Hey, sleepwalker, don't you miss the way
Wildflowers paint the western hills?
Or the first autumn whisper mid-September brings
And the glowy excitement that it builds?

I used to be a frequent user here going on like 10 years ago. However, it's been a very long time since I've put pen to paper in order to write something other than my name; and the fact that I've sat here for 20 minutes and struggled just to type an introduction is a clear indicator that I'm rustier than I thought.

Where to begin?

Truth is, I lost my passion for writing about as long ago, after losing someone very close to me. A less creative and much more cliche writer would say that she was my muse, but the reality is that she was a lot more than that. I went into a lingering, deep depression and quite literally gave up on everything I loved. In recent years, though... I've found myself itching for a creative outlet and I've been tossing around this idea where I combine my love for music with my passion for writing.

I don't want to get into it too much here, but therapy is expensive so I figured I would just take music I love and find ways to relate the lyrics to stories from my life and/or any fictional tales I might want to tell.

Anyway, I look forward to joining the community and if you think you'd be interested in reading whiny trash, be on the lookout for my future thread 'Love, Loss and Reflection through Music'.

@Duckie I really don't have any preference, so long as the story being told is powerful. I've mostly dabbled in Fantasy and Sci-Fi, but I've also done some horror and crime related stuff too. Before my ex died, I wrote a manuscript for a book and was in the process of editing. For previously stated reasons, I gave up on the project though.

Other than that, I went to school for Journalism and used to write for a reality TV website.

@Sleep Walker That's really awesome that you worked with reality TV in some way! And I say that with time and healing, I'm sure you'll be able to finish that process of editing; I believe in you. Journalism is also really interesting, I used to be part of the school newspaper and took journalism as an elective. It didn't last long, due to some life issues, but that's okay!

Story is very important, quantity over quality but I sometimes forget that, personally. Fantasy is one of my favorites, others being romance and a few others that I've only slightly dabbled in. I'd call myself a newbie and I write poetry every once in a while.

Hopefully, you can find some topics that interest you in searching. Good luck to you, friend!

To be clear: It is not a recent loss. The only reason I brought it up was because it was the catalyst or the crux that caused me to lose interest in writing. I have done my fair share of grieving, but because of other things in my life that have happened in the years since, including more loss, I've recently found myself reflecting more and more and that is why I feel like I need the... release of a creative outlet.

Never to that degree, but I also associated my passion in writing with loss and couldn't bring myself to it in earnest for quite some time. You have my condolences in all regards.

But take your time and find something to iterate on with writing, there's plenty of welcoming places here to do so if you look. I hope you find people that lets you feel comfortable to indulge again. Just take your time and feel it out, don't force it.

Hope your stay is a positive one.

@Lithfangel Thanks, mate. I also hope you're doing well in regards to your loss. As far as writing goes, I don't plan on doing much RPing, probably just a thread of standalone pieces. I'll post a link here when I get it started in the next day or so.
