"Had they waited, they would meet some gym challengers," Shiranui commented.

“That is true,” Jen said as she noticed Liam hopped up maybe they should finish this conversation somewhere warmer.

There was a splash sound followed by a cry of a creature in pain. Liam looked toward the source, and saw a Pokemon that he had never seen before. It had a light blue top and a white underbelly. It was visibly shivering, and looked injured too boot.

"Finizen, the Dolphin Pokemon. A Water-type. Native to the Paldea Region, Finizen likes playing with others of its kind using the water ring on its tail. It uses ultrasonic waves to sense the emotions of other living creatures."

"Paldea?" Liam thought aloud. "Poor thing is far from home. judging by these scrapes it has been having a rough time lately. this cold water can't be good for it if it is native to the oceans around Paldea."
"Rotomdex said it can sense emotions of living creatures, I wonder..." Liam thought to himself. he easily reached out his hand toward the dolphin, and gently stroked its head.
"Who hurt you?" Liam thought.
"Hey, punk get away from my pay day!" Growled a voice. A Avalug-themed ship approached, breaking the ice out of its way. A man dressed in generic pirate garb, with a Chatot perched on his tri corner hat was standing on the deck.
"That is me prize, netted it off the shores of Paldea."
"How could you be so cruel to a Pokemon?" Liam yelled. "Pokemon are living, breathing creatures. They have wants and needs." Liam stood up while keeping eye contact on the pirate. "People and Pokemon alike, share this one plant. To treat Pokemon like tools, or possessions. That is inexcusable."

"Argh, like you can stop us." The pirate mocked.
"All hands on deck!" the Chatot squawked.
Thirty deck hands all rushed out tossing out two Pokemon each. A small army of fighting-types, Particularly of the Machop and Makuhita lines, along with a pair of Medicham were sent out. The Pirate Captain sent out the only Machamp and a Bisharp.

"Sixty-two Pokemon, huh?" Liam thought to himself. Liam called out in his mind and Sherlock appeared. "Sherlock, protect Finizen please."
Sherlock nodded in understanding and used Confusion to left Finizen out of the cold waters and over to him so he could protect him better. At the same time, Sherlock telepathically asked Shiranui to send a message to Officer Jenny not only to deal with these pirates, but to arrange transport for Finizen back to its home.

"Charge!" The captain called as the army of fighting-types swarmed the heroes. "Claim Their Pokemon for our army!"
"Everyone! It's time to shine!" Beckham the Raboot, Drakloak, Smaug the Charizard, Goodra, a shiny Flapple, and Toxel emerged.
"Beckham, Bounce! Drakloak use Agility!" Beckham soared up into the air and Drakloak began to swiftly move around the oncoming fluries of punches.

"Smaug, Flapple, take to the sky! Tearful look! Goodra, Dragon Pulse!" The rest of Liam's pokemon did as requested, with Goodra getting between Toxel and the enemies after the debuff took affect. Flapple and Smaug tag teamed to try and corral as many of the enemies into as big of a cluster as possible, Liam used the time to swap out the Dragnium Z for Electrium Z, giving his friends a chance to hop in to help, Hoping they would see Beckham's bounce would land at an angle to splash a lot of the enemies with cold water.

Aura hits some of the Pokémon with blast of aura, she captured some of the Pokémon in an aura cage. Kalama Kirara pops out of her ball, “lightning Fang,p.” Jen said as her Pyroar attacks some of Pokémon with a mouthful of lightning. Jen hopes the snow covers some of Pyroar as the pirates migh May think what the heck.

"Titania, Nekomata, Saisei, I choose you!" Shiranui sent out his Gardevoir, Meowstic and Mewtwo respectively. "Titania, mega evolve and use Hyper Voice; Nekomata, open your ears and use Psychic; Saisei, use Psystrike!" Titania let off a bright pink glow, her dress morphing to a 16th Century crinoline dress and her chest horn splitting into two. She had become a Mega Gardevoir and an angry one at that as she vented her rage into a powerful Fairy-type Hyper Voice souped up through her Pixilate ability. Nekomata charged her psychic powers and released them through her uncovered ear spots while Saisei floated up and unleashed their signature move. All of Shiranui's attackers aimed their attacks at the cluster of Pokémon being formed by Liam's attackers. "Bend it, Beckham!" Nekomata cheered, foreseeing the results of the Raboot's Bounce attack.

While Shiranui's Pokémon did their attacks, Shiranui called 999 on his phone and requested the Circhester Officer Jenny and the Coast Guards of Galar, Kalos and Paldea. He informed them of the pirates' antics at Circhester Bay and requested they keep a lookout for an Avalugg-themed pirate ship. "The local Jenny and the Coast Guards of three regions are being informed as we battle," Shiranui stated, seeing the pirates' Pokémon get blasted away by the attacks of three strong psychics. "Master, Liam, Jen, I sense wormholes opening in their hold," Titania informed, "A rescue of their Pokémon hostages is being conducted as we battle."

Beckham landed, splashing the the clustered pokemon and the pirates, save the captain with the icy water.
"OK, lets's wrap this up, I'm sure you guys will get a jolt out of this." Liam activated the Z-Ring and did the electric poses.
"Now, Drakloak use Gigavolt Havoc!" The electric move was fired off, shocking the soaked individuals, launching them onto the boat and shocking the Captain as well.

“”Flame thrower Kalama Kirara,” Jen said as her Pyroar shoots flames at the Pokémon sending them flying onto the ship. Aura picks up the aura cage with aura and throws those Pokémon onto the ship. Jen hears a sirean in the distance as she sense her aunt Jenny is on a fast boat. Jen quickly recall Kalama Kirara back into her ball.

One lone pirate managed to avoid the combo attack and grabbed Beckham, ready to use him for a bargaining chip, Beckham kicked the guy in the gut, making him drop the rabbit Pokemon. Beckham began to glow with the white light that signaled evolution, becoming a Cinderace. He then used Pyro Ball to knock the pirate onto the ship with the rest of his crew as various Jennys pulled up, alongside other officers. The Poachers were handcuffed, and the Jennies saluted the heroes, thanking them for the help. A coast guard named "Stern" approached the heroes and asked the heroes to get the Finizen into a tank of warm water so it could be taken back to Paldea.
Liam instructed Sherlock to do such. Finizen came over to the edge of the tank and gave Liam and Sherlock a look of gratitude. Liam gave Finizen a few Orren Berries.
"Here you go, Take care Finizen." Liam said. Stern loaded the tank onto his speeder boat, and promised Liam that he'd get Finizen to a Joy to patch him up before heading back to Paldea.
One Jenny offered a lift to the heroes to the next town while the others were dealing with the pirates.

"That would be appreciated," Shiranui accepted, recalling his Pokémon, "I should warn you that we're going to Spikemuth and I heard that Team Yell is holed up there."

Liam thanked her as well, recalling his Pokemon, and having Sherlock teleport back to where it was. Jenny mentioned she could at least get them to the gate. As Liam climbed in, he looked back at the truck Finizen was loaded into. "I hope it will get back home safely,"

Jen and Aura thank Jenny as they got into the boat, “I have a feeling that the Finzen will get home safely.”

"I'm certain the local coast guard knows what they're doing," Shiranui agreed.

His Rotom phone pinged a message notification and Shiranui checked it out. It was an audio message from his cyber operative.
"M-m-m-m-message from Majin;" the recording played. Shiranui had forgotten that his Porygon-Z gained a stutter as a result of their evolution. The recording continued in his Hoopa's voice. "Master, your feline couple is adopting one of the rescues I plucked from the pirate ship. Expect a surprise addition to your Pokédex soon."
"That sneaky little djinn," Shiranui commented before his phone pinged the aforementioned surprise notification.
"Sprigatito has been registered to your Pokédex."
"Spriga-what now? Rotom, analysis," he commanded.
"Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon. A Grass type. The sweet scent its body gives off mesmerises those around it. The scent grows stronger when this Pokémon is in the sun," Rotom recited. With a raised eyebrow, Shiranui checked the Pokémon Storage app and looked up his new friend's summary. It stated the nickname was Tejinashi, the gender was female and it had Protean as an ability. He had a feeling that the scent was a factor. With those factors he was not surprised the pirates thought they could make a quick Pokédollar with a female Sprigatito with a hidden ability.

A random idea popped into Liam's head. "You guys think Stern is going to be another situation like the Joys and the Jennys?" Liam asked. He disembarked the boat where Jenny anchored the boat to let the heroes off. She saluted the heroes as they disembarked.



"That is great news," Liam said.

“It depends on how aggressive they are,” Jen said as she and Aura get off the boat. Jen and Aura sense trouble ahead of them.

"Our experience with the Nihilego species was far from stellar," Shiranui commented, "It took the three of us to free her from Nihilego's control."

"The Aether Foundation are the most knowledgebale on the Ultra Beasts, I trust that they will know the best way to deal with it." Liam said. His Rotomphone chirped informing him of a nearby particiapent in the World Coronation. It was a young boy who was hopelessly wandering around, looking for the entrance to Spikemouth. He saw that his Rotomphone was indicating toward Liam and pressed "Accept" without looking at the name or picture on his phone. He then sent out a Galarian Lineoon before realizing who he was facing. Liam sent out Beckham who once the battle started, oneshot the opposing Pokemon, pushing Liam up to 101. The kid ran away in tears over his blunder as he saw his number plumit to the mid 500's.

"I almost feel sorry for the kid," Shiranui commented, "That does put you one battle away from the Ultra Ball Rank."

“Don’t give up, you still have time to gain those points back,” Jen told the kid as she did not want him to give up on his dream.

sadly, Jen's words of encouragement went unheard by the person she was talking too as they had already ran too far away and would have been unable to hear them over the sobbing anyhow.

Liam also felt bad for the kid, but there wasn't much he could do. They just had to deal with getting into Cerchester for the next badge. Liam noticed the gate was down on the town. "Reminds me of Po Town in Alola, Liam commented." He saw Marnie sneaking through nearby grass and silently pointed her out to his friends.

Shiranui nodded in acknowledgement, seeing Marnie. "We should tail her," he whispered, "She'll lead us right into the Obstagoons' nest."
