((Sorry about this being so long! I kinda got a bit too into it, to be honest.

Also, please alert me if you want anything to be changed! I'll fix it if you do!))

Both of you are good, go ahead and move it over. I also wanted to get everyone's opinion, I'm remaking my character to be a barbarian. Should I make an npc healer we could all control, or do you guys think we'll be fine without one?

I mean we're not running this with stats or hitpoints, so there's no mechanical need for a party member to be a healer. I think we'll be fine without one.

I intended for my character to have some healing powers anyway, along with some buffs he can put on people. We can cover with rest with potions or something.

I'm somewhat interested in this idea, but I'd like to create a character that doesn't have too much overlap with the other present characters. I do like the idea of making a character that has a less than positive opinion on Octavia for some variety. Any party composition roles we're notably missing in the already submitted characters? I'm leaning towards something like either a monk, cleric, or ranger atm.

Loosely categorizing and irreverently summarizing below are my thoughts on the party, atm, so apologies to everyone in advance...

A knight/paladin fueled by fairy prophecies and currently holding a position as a guild master.

An evocation/abjuration mage, burning less cultists these days, serving as a court wizard in a big prosperous city instead of returning to magical academia and a cloistered life.

A very angry and bitter necromancer, mad at himself, mad at the rest of the party, and mad at the world for failing Octavia (letting her die). Probably doing or thinking about doing some very bad things to bring Octavia back.

A washed up (sounds like alcoholic) battle monk (who used to channel calm and monk powers in battle to strike down baddies) struggling with the trauma of war and choices she made.

A stealth archer/ranger returning to the wilds and living his best wandering life (assuming a bit here, lol).

An artificer, your friendly neighborhood Tabaxi magical inventor with a sweet metal bird and thematic bird outfit.

GM seems to be mulling a healer or barbarian.

I think it's fine for you to write what you think is most fun.

Like Kassarock said, we aren't necessarily mechanically bound by any rules (if you really wanted I'm sure a barbarian could have a gift for healing).

Worst case I would imagine many people in the setting learn some healing if they can manage (even if they aren't experts per say, sort of like how in some professions everyone is trained in the basics of first aid and/or emergency medicine).

Like the others said, do whatever you think would be fun to create, dude! And thanks, by the way! Will probably move Crow over soon!

It sounds like you like my character; thanks if you do!

I feel like it's a bit ironic that the plague doctor guy, of all people, seems like they're the most/one of the more well adjusted people in the party. Like, everyone else are either in important positions of power(doesn't mean that they're less well adjusted, really; just thought this was interesting), shut out the outside world entirely and only listen to the thoughts in their head, or just became an washed up alcoholic, and Crow's just over there in their own corner of the world, still traveling/adventuring and helping people.

Like, despite me imagining them also being a workaholic and having a fear of failure(both probably stem from the party's previous big adventure where they stopped the dragon guy, to be honest), they're pretty chill and still love helping people regardless. I can only imagine them in that one meme where the one guy(Crow) runs into a room with pizza and everyone in that room(the rest of the party) look like they just participated in some sort of sheer chaos, lol!

But yeah, I didn't even know about Octavia being dead in Kassarock's character's CS, before Abstract Proxy talked about it in their post. Will probably change Crow's relationship with her a bit in the actual IC, then. Nothing much, just them knowing that Octavia's dead(was also thinking that maybe they could maybe visit Octavia's grave at some point in the RP, but will probably just gonna make them visit their parents' graves and put flowers on them in Crow's opening post instead, since Crow wasn't as close to Octavia as Kassrock's character was).

I do! I thought every character so far has been very fun and interesting in different ways.

I had a similar thought to what you just described, in that it's interesting that Crow seems very well adjusted and overall seem to have dealt with some pretty tragic things well (honestly this is great, some characters will respond less well to big events and that is fun/great, but it's also fun to see a character that seems to be doing fine).

Related, in my head I sort of see Naivara having a similar path to Crow (maybe not as cheerfully, lol), where instead of returning to her past (going back to being a wizard in a library fortress), her time with Octavia and the party really pushed her out into the world, to the point that she ended up a court wizard involved in politics.

My aim was to write a "sheltered/isolated character learns to live in the wide world thanks to the main character/party" sort of background. Also, I like the idea of going against the grain of an arrogant and purely magic focused wizard (e.g., wizard in their tower finding mundane things a bother).

If anything, in a narrative game, it’s better not to have major healing magic. It muddies the stakes because it takes away our ability to concretely understand how bad of a state the characters are in. Some minor healing ability from Gideon, to reduce the downtime of injured characters without significantly altering the stakes, seems ideal.

And for the record, if @Imbion joins, we’ll have eight players, which @Hyyde322 said would be the maximum.

That's pretty cool! Honestly, why I wrote Crow was because I wanted to do something different than my initial character for this RP(a Tabaxi tiger Barbarian), with the initial one feeling a bit standard/him overall not working out for me in terms of his personality. Crow, meanwhile, fit like a glove for some reason, and I felt so inspired writing them that their CS ended up being eight pages long in Google Docs, LOL! xD

I think I'm honing on playing a rouge character, since that appears to be untouched by the other party members. With the personality I'm developing, a character based slightly on the inquisitive archetype seems appropriate - explains how/why they're so suspicious of Octavia, since the class role itself lends to not really trusting anyone.

I'll see if I can post the character sheet today, but if not, I'll be posting it tomorrow.

Once I've done that and gotten the character approved, I'd like to get things like relationships with the rest of the party figured out.

Alright, it's done. Let me know if I need to make any adjustments, or if I missed anything. Basic premise is that they're effectively an evolved version of a thrill seeker rouge, one now with heroic tendencies and a slight religious inclination. Little bit of sherlock homes inspiration in there (needing to do something intellectually stimulating or otherwise bad things happen) with a paranoiac streak. Trying to live their best life, but not really being able to enjoy it due to the state of things.

Yeah, rl and professional responsibilities always come first.

Finally updated my character sheet and posted it, hopefully it's not too much of a slog to read (it was fun to write at least).

I’ve added relationship information about Gideon, Eskel, and Abraham to my sheet. Gideon’s we discussed in PMs, the other two are just my estimation of how it would be. Let me know if anyone wants those relationships to be different than described. I’ll do the rest later.
