Kim knew there was no way she was going to be able to pursue the van. Right now, it was just best to end the recording and head out. With a few taps on the smartphone, the recording finished, and she put her smartphone away in her purse.

Realizing there were cameras here, she knew that directly leaving wasn't a good idea. So, she made her way into the nearby Bed, Bath, and Beyond. After a little bit of window shopping, she left the store and made her way back to her car.

Once she makes it to the car, she drives away from her workplace and drives back to her apartment. She needed to process this and decide who to send the video to.

She trusts Kendra and she seems to know the workings of the Supernatural world better than she does. It might be good to ask her for advice. There was also January...he has agents helping her out. She might have to send the recording to him too..

Recognising both the woman's distress and her grandmother's name, Kendra realises they're going to have to bite the bullet and invite her in if they didn't want her to run for the hills. While she didn't feel comfortable letting this stranger into the apartment, she also knew if this woman was in genuine trouble and she didn't help her, she'd never be able to forgive herself.

"Alright," Kendra says, surpressing a sigh as she holds the door open to let Lian in. She gestures down the hallway. "Living room is at the end of corridor." Before she closes the door behind Lian, she takes a moment to check that there is no one else lurking around.

"Are you being followed by the Militia?" Vicky asked Dashel, watching the police as they came across the park towards the group. She was vaugley cognisant that this was a bad thing. The city was very rich to have so many Milita. She had avoided them for the most part, though once she had been forced to assume her stone form to avoid them.

"Have you not been paying your tithes?" she scolded.

Lian comes inside and breathes a sigh of relief as she crosses the threshold. She sets the Chinese take out down on the living room table and collapses onto the couch.

"I'm sorry to burst in, but... well every day before I go out for delievereis my Grand Mother tells me something that will happen. Sometimes it is that I will get a great tip or meet a cute girl, but today... today she said if anything happened I should find you."

"Shit," Dashel mutters, looking everywhere but at the cops. As they close you see them reaching for weapons. One seems to be drawing a hand gun, the other a tazer. Dashel walks off keeping his head down and avoiding eye contact. THe cops let him go, arrowing in on you with increasing obviousness.

What do you do?

"It's fine," Kendra grumbles in response to Lian's apology. While they were still wary of this whole situation, a feeling of guilt was starting to come over them as they considered how rude they must be coming across to this likely distressed woman. They were about to open their mouth to offer Lian a drink of anything when their phone suddenly went off.

Originally, Kendra's main ringtone, set for everyone who wasn't her father's side of the family or a roommate, was the song "I've No More F***s To Give" by Thomas Benjamin, an idea which Kendra had found extremely hilarious at the time. However, the joke became much less funny when her phone had gone off in the middle of a work shift, prompting a very stern talking to by her manager. Since then, Kendra had set it to a standard ringtone instead. "Sorry, sorry," Kendra mutters to Lian as they fish the phone out of their pockets. Seeing Kim's name on the screen, they mouth "Sorry" again to Lian before turning away to answer the phone.

"Please, pleeeease tell me this is just a social call," Kendra says into the phone. "I don't think I can handle many more surprises this evening."

Kim's voice can be heard on the other side of the phone,

"Sorry, Kendra. I'm afraid it's not a social call. I witnessed a kidnapping and I don't really know what to do about it. I have it recorded, but I'm guessing there isn't some sort of...supernatural police force to report this to,"

Kendra gives a very loud, exaggerated sigh. Of course. "I mean, in this city, I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone on the police who was in the know," they say. "Look, where are you right now?"

"I'm at my apartment right now. The door's locked for now. I should be okay here,"

The dwarf hopped out of the pick up, parking at the edge of the street and stomping through the grass. He ignored the dog that stomped out and started yowling, and he made it to the front door. He knocked on the wooden frame, hard. Eventually a young man answered, tan skinned and dark of hair.

"Who are you?" Ǫlni asked.

"Uh, Fred?" He asked by way of question, wondering what this short man who had not even introduced himself yet was doing at the front door.

"Get me Harald. Tell him Ǫlni needs him. Time is of the essence."

He gave an incredulous look, but he went back in and a minute later, Harald walked out with a natural bud lite in his hand. He looked a bit spooked to see the dwarf. "What are you doing here?" He asked, almost conspiratorially.

"I have a patient for ye. Come with me." He said, and began walking back to his truck. After a moment of protest, Harald cursed in norwegian and hurried inside to grab his supplies before hustling over to get in the truck. Ǫlni put the pedal to the metal and they arrived back at his shop minutes later, having filled him in on the situation. Harald walked into the shop with wide eyes, placing his bag down and gaping at the wings on the woman, still bleeding. Ǫlni knew she was too tough to bleed out so quickly, but Harald needed to work fast.

"See that she lives. Oh and see if ye can wake her up." The dwarf ordered.

"That is uh, not how this works." Harald said, sweating.

Vicky did not want to be taken into custody by the militia. She didn't have one of those cool pieces of paper that flashed in the sun. Nor did she have one of those numbers that they used to somehow get security. Hopping to her feet she walked across to the fountain and pressed her palms to the fountain, feeling the familiar touch of stone.

"Sisters," she whispered, "can you assist me in evading these angry militia?"

Kendra considered her options for a moment. "Right, stay there," they say. "I've got my own..." They pause as they look over their shoulder at Lian. "Conumdrum going on, but either me or Trinity will come to see you when we can. Just... don't answer the door until we get there. Worst comes to worst and someone tries to force their way in, call the police."

Harald pulled his medical bag open and knelt beside the Valkyrie. She was still breathing, though shallow and rasping. Golden liquid stained her lips and pulled beneath her armor. It was spreading slowly, glittering in the overhead light.

"Ok, what the fuck," Harald muttered, hands hovering indecicevly, darting between the patient and his medical bag.

"Ok," he repeated, "Look you are going to need to help me get this armor off, I cant do... Jesus christ you think they teach us what to do when someone has been shot through fucking golden plate mail?"

"You got it. I'll send you the recording I took, just in case. Thanks, Kendra,"

After that, Kim ends the phone conversation. After a moment, there would be another sound of Kendra's ringtone, as the recording Kim took earlier is sent to Kendra via text.

Once Kendra was off the phone, she quickly sent a text to Trinity telling her the situation before turning back to Lian. "Sorry 'bout that," they say. "Apparently, there are a lot of crises going on around Corvus Bay tonight." They put their phone back in their pocket and sat themself down on an armchair opposite Lian. "So your grandmother knows about me... and knows where I live, apparently, and told you to seek me out should something happen today," they said, trying to get the conversation back on track.

You feel the statues stir beneath your touch. One of the water nymphs opens her eyes, marble lids sliding back to reveal eyes of a deep lambent green. She smiles down at you and you sense she is pleased to be awake. If you promise to waken her when you can, she will do as you wish.

Lian slumps into the couch, looking like a woman who can relax for the first time in hours. She runs her fingers through her short black hair and lets out a sigh.

"My Grandmother gave me your address," Lian explains.

"As you can imagine I was a little wierded out by that, but she is like...." she stumbles and then looks at you with embarassment.

"Well she has always been a little odd. I was out doing a delievery, and ... well at first I thought it was because I was on edge, but I swore I saw things moving on the roof tops." She draws a shuddering breath and closed her eyes.

"I bailed on deliveries and ran back to my Grandmother's reasturant, when I got there they had firetrucks blocking the street. I felt this... well this sense of dread, and I knew I would be in danger if I tried to get close. All I could think to do was run here."

"You have my word sister," Vicky breathed and then stepped back. The police were only a few feet away now. With shocking suddenness the nymphs jets of water spray down into the faces of the approaching humans, dousing them and a half dozen onlookers in a deluge of icy water. Men and women shouted and jostled in alarm.

Vicky turned and bolted for the exit. A hefty woman crashed into her from the side and sent her spinning to the ground. She let out an inarticulate screech but it was too late, the militia were on top of her.

Kendra listens to Lian's story, their face growing grimmer as the woman continued. It wasn't just the fact that Madam Chang had known about them that bugged them, it was that this woman who likely had connections throughout the Power community had decided to entrust her own granddaughter's safety to a complete stranger. What did she even expect her to do? If Madam Chang knew as much about them as she seemed to, she must have known Kendra was just another Oracle, like her, but with far less connections and less experience. "And that's all she told you?" they say. "Just to find me in case of an emergency? Nothing else?" Surely there had to be something, anything else. Some kind of hint or clue to make sure Kendra had something to go on, so she could actually do... whatever it was that Madam Chang expected of them.

Ǫlni grumbled, kneeling down beside the Valkyrie. His fingers were thick, but they were dexterous. He began to peel the armor off, speaking of the make as he did so, as if it were second nature.

"The Choosers of the Slain are the handmaidens of Odin. Their armor is of the finest quality. Dwarf make, actually. Though I never made any myself. This was something my grandfather worked on..." He undid her glimmering golden pauldrons, sharp edged and wide, in the likeness of great wings. "The plates aid her in gliding, and the cuirass is ten thousand thousand links of gilded steel. She wears no coif, as ye can see. But her helm, shaped like an eagle, you see? It can survive any blow save a strike from Thor's hammer himself. Here lad, grab the lower bits-"

"What?" Harald asked, too focused on staunching the blood to be bewildered, but still confused.

"Oh, right." It was just easier for him to pull the cuirass off with two men, but he raised her arms and yanked the plate gauntlets off all the same, pulling off the cuirass as Harald helped lift her body. Soon she had on naught but a linen top and a simple skirt. "How is she, lad? Ye don't want to be failing now. Odin is vengeful you see..."

"I'm helping though!" He breathed.

"Yes, but he's a fickle god. Where do ye think Loki gets it from?"
