~Intro~

Soleil arrived at her destination, Jump City. Great, she was where she needed to be. She looked around. It looked different. That was not great. She should have landed just a few hours prior to her parents being slain, and this didn't look like home. Soleil lifted her arm, checking the communicator on her wrist. Her comm wasn't working, searching for signal. "Great, I guess I won't be able to use this while I'm here. I just hope it doesn't interfere with me getting back.." She placed her hands on her hips and surveyed her surroundings. Titan Tower was just off in the distance. "I only have a few hours.. I wonder when they left. I need to check the tower and see if I can catch them." Soleil made her way to the tower.

She reached the front of the tower and tried to buzz herself in. It wouldn't work. "Weird. I wonder if Dad was running maintenance this morning..." She tried again, but it wouldn't budge. She'd have to find another way in. She couldn't necessarily sneak in through her room, in case her other self spotted her. She checked her comm, at least it was still showing the time. It looked like her other self would still be sleeping. She might have a shot at sneaking in. She made her way to her bedroom window, and slowly pushed it up. She had made sure to grease it up real good so that she could sneak out. It was sticking. That struck her weird. She made sure to go as easily as she could, and got the window open. Then, she hoisted herself into her room. She looked around. It was decorated differently.

"I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore..." She whispered to herself.

Wednesday was for organizing. Alrick prided himself on the neatness of his room. Everything had a place. The walls were bare and furniture didn't match, but he didn’t care. This was his quiet little spot in an otherwise chaotic home. Things never got lost and he never stubbed his toes here.

The microfiber towel swiped over every surface carefully. He worked in a grid pattern, sure to not miss a spot. Alrick hummed along to the soft music playing from his phone as he worked. Nothing could break his Wednesday cleaning frenzy focus now...

Well, almost nothing.

The sound of his window being pried open sure did get his attention fast. Alrick never used that window, why would he?

"Uh...no, I don't think we're in Kansas," He chirped, turning to face the strange but not malicious voice. "Pretty far away, actually. Can I help you? Do you need directions? A door, maybe?"

Soleil stared like a deer in headlights, processing what was happening, but only for a brief moment. "I'm sorry, I thought I had the right room.. I was looking for mine.." She trailed off as she looked around the room, curious and confused. Everything looked... ancient. "I'm sorry for intruding." She paused a second, and then "What year is it?" She asked. "I, uh, had an accident on the way here and hit my head pretty good. Might be why I crawled in through the wrong window.." She put her hand up to cup the back of her head, selling her very paper thin theory.

She had to tread carefully. She knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she had crawled in through the correct window. All her years of sneaking out made sure of that. Soleil had to come up with a plan if she wasn't in the correct timeline - if anyone found out who she was, she risked losing everything.

Alrick tilted his head in confusion. He knew everyone who lived in the tower. He knew their voices, the sound of their footsteps, their very heartbeats. This person was a stranger, he was sure of it. She must have been confused. A head injury explained a little but...how do you forget that you don't live inside a giant letter?

"Well, you're in some luck. I'm the resident healer here and I can help you if you've hurt your head. Why don't you sit down and I'll see what I can do?"

He was very good at picking up on one's intentions. This confused girl didn't seem to mean any harm. She was nervous, though...and almost certainly lying. Alrick gave her a reassuring smile, his sightless eyes not quite meeting her own.

"It's 2023. Why don't you tell me what really happened."

Soleil took a seat where he was gesturing to sit. "It's 2023." Echoed in her mind. "Shit."She thought. She was in the wrong time. She was only supposed to go back a few hours prior to their death. Now it seemed like she ended up 28 years in the past. Which meant her parents were teenagers.

"Why don't you tell me what really happened?" Finally his words got through to her, and she realized she needed to explain herself. How was she going to do this without blowing her cover? "I, uh, well." How should she even begin? I'm from the future and my parents are Starfire and Robin and I'm here to prevent their death. She thought silently. "I'm from the future, the year 2055.. I was supposed to only go back a few hours, but I ended up here. In the future, this is my room which is why I crawled in through the window. I have to say... We have very different decorating styles."

"I need to find Starfire and Robin - so they can help me get back. My communicator is busted, and I'm not sure I can get back without it. I'm hoping maybe they could help me.."

Approaching the Titan Tower, 'Gracer' wasn't used to wearing his outfit, mask included, in the daytime, leave alone in the open like this. Then again, it would make a bad impression on his inviters if he snuck his way in. Didn't wanna aggravate his hosts now, especially such well-known and powerful group of people as the Titans.

It had been a few days since he received the unknown suspicious letter on the doorstep of Flint's apartment after another outing as Gracer. It was immediately clear to him that it wasn't his mailman that posted this mail, but that it was delivered by hand. After deducing it wasn't harmful in any way aside from the possibility of a papercut, he opened it, and found it was an invitation from the Teen Titans. Although they didn't mention it directly, he could clearly make out they wanted some kind of alliance with him, either to draw him into their group of heroes, or to support each other some other way. And seeing as they clearly knew where he lived, it would've been hard for him to decline, even if they were 'the good guys'.

While approaching the tower, he spotted something unusual. A woman, having features of Starfire but not quite being her, entering through a window. As he didn't notice any alarms going off and her doing it with the ease of someone who knew her way around the place, as well as it seeming unlikely to be a test of sorts, he just memorized it and continued.

Finally arriving at the giant T-shaped tower, and not seeing anyone waiting for him, he decided to do the most expected thing someone invited would do, and knock, or as in the case of his technological generation: Ring the doorbell, and wait for the door to either open, or give him an answer.

Oh no, was this a time shenanigans thing? Alrick hated those. They always get way too complicated way too fast! His typical policy was to stay as far away from these things as he could but...if what she was saying was true, she was a fellow Titan in need.

"Wait, don't the usual time travel rules include staying as far away from your past parents as possible? What if you do something that prevents your future parents from getting together? Or is that just in the movies...I dunno', I think we should play this safe."

He sat down on the edge of his bed, brow scrunched in thought. "We've done time travel BS before. There was this one villain that had a time machine watch and a grudge. It was a lot, honestly. But I think Robin stowed the watch parts in the basement somewhere. Maybe you could use that to get back?"

Robin would lose his shit if he knew anyone touched that thing, but this was an emergency, right? Surely he'd understand.

Soleil's eyes widened. She shouldn't have mentioned Starfire and Robin. He picked up on it too quickly. He was right, though. She had forgotten the cardinal rules in her haste. "The-, they're not." She stumbled on her words. "They're not my parents, I just thought they could help me get back. I know Robin's dealt with this kind of thing and I knew he'd be able to help me."

She sighed and looked down at her feet, choosing her next words carefully. He was able to see right through her immediately, but that didn't mean that she couldn't continue with her mission. He was a healer, and part of the Titans. Maybe if she explained everything, he could help her and help them and she could come out of this without screwing everything up.

"Okay, look.."She dropped her voice so as to prevent anyone else from hearing, just in case the other Titans were about. "They are my parents. Slade got them. I woke up to start my training with Da- uh, Robin, and he wasn't there. I tracked them to Slade's lair and when I found them.. It was too late. I vowed to stop Slade no matter the cost. I was hoping to go back just a few hours before, track them before they left, and stop them somehow. I don't know how long they had been gone by the time I had gotten up, so it was just a guess to go back a few hours. I don't know what happened, but I ended up here, 28 years prior." She stood up, and started pacing.

"It wasn't my intentions to actually run into them. I was hoping I could sneak past myself sleeping, and be able to stop them without really interfering. Now I don't know how I'm going to get back.. Dad, I mean Robin, would most certainly kick my ass if he knew I had gotten myself in this situation but I couldn't just let them be slain." She finally stopped rambling and looked at Alrick. "I didn't catch your name, and I'm sorry for spewing all this on you, but maybe you could help me? I still need to save them, but I obviously can't do this on my own." She hoped he would, but would have to figure something else out if he declined. "I'll leave, if you think that's best."

The tower's doorbell rang, breaking the silence she felt was growing longer as she waited for Alrick to process and answer her request. "Is someone going to get that?" She asked, pointing towards the sound of the doorbell ringing again.

"Oh, sorry, I just kinda' assumed. It went along with the story, you know?" Alrick didn't exactly believe her. Who else would be desperate enough to use time travel to save the couple? It wasn't like Robin and Starfire hid their feelings for each other particularly well. In 28 years, he could only imagine that they'd- oh, wait. Yeah, okay, he was right.

"Wow. Sorry, that sounds awful. It's a lot for one person to deal with alone. I'm Alrick, by the way. I guess I could have lead with that." To be fair, she had just broken into his window and introductions seemed less important at the time.

"Yeah, I think this is gonna be a "tread lightly" situation for sure. We probably shouldn't tell the others about the whole "future" thing. That might mess up timeline things and stuff."

He paused as the doorbell rang again. Was everyone else on vacation today? "You know, I was hoping they would. I guess not, though. Do you want to check out that watch thing?"

He stood, about to head down to the front door to see who was visiting this time of day. Hopefully not someone ordering DoorDash and forgetting about it again.

Soleil let out a sigh of relief. "Joy!" She let out a squeal of happiness akin to Starfire's gleeful burst. She was happy to have someone willing to help, and that she didn't land herself in a mess she couldn't get out of. "Yes, please." She was ready to follow him out of their room.

Tread lightly he said. Of course she was going to tread lightly. The only reason she told him was because he seemed to pick up on it immediately. In his defense, she shouldn't have asked straight out for them. Should she have just sought out Robin, as the leader? Would that have been less, or more suspicious? She had to play it cool from here on out, though, especially if she ran into either Starfire and Robin.

Lio had been working his regular shift at S.T.A.R. labs when the alert came in. Still tired from the all night overtime of the previous day, Lio had already made his way through three cups of coffee. At the very least his mind was alert, jacked up on caffeine. As such he was actually making progress on the cybernetic arm that had been giving him trouble. But then an alert sounded in a nearby room. Lio attempted to ignore it, but it was very loud.

Lio would be forced to deal with it when a technician rushed in, announcing there had been a temporal distortion. Great, thought Lio, time travel shenanigans. He knew has the labs resident superhero, he was expected to go check it out. With a sigh, Lio left his workstation and headed for the boss’s office.

“So where exactly was the epicenter of this event?” asked Lio, skipping over all pleasantries.

“Just outside Titans Tower,” stated Lio’s supervisor.

“I guess that really makes it my problem,” sighed Lio.

The young scientist would then head to his personal locker and change into his Pulse outfit. Comprised of advanced synthetic material and super durable plating, Lio’s hero outfit was designed to take a beating. He then stepped out of S.T.A.R. labs and lifted off into the air, ignoring the usual rules about using his pseudo-ring on company property. He figured that there were extraneous circumstances as a time rift was a big deal. For all Lio knew, this could be another warlord from thousands of years into the future come to conquer the past.

Luckily, Lio knew the route from S.T.A.R. labs to Titans Tower by heart, as he had been flying back and forth from them these past few weeks. While in transit, Lio wondered if the Titans had been made aware of the temporal event, as surely Cyborg had the technology for it, or maybe even Robin did given how prepared he was for everything.

And yet, Lio didn’t see anyone outside when he arrived next to the tower. His pseudo-ring still faintly detected tachyons, remnants of a temporal passage, but they were quickly fading as the time line recovered. Still, Lio scanned the area with his eyes and pseudo-ring, looking for any signs of danger. But all he found was someone standing at the tower’s front door.

The man was in some kind of costume, apparently a hero as he had come straight to the front door instead of breaking in. Figuring that it was worth figuring out why this guy was here, Lio descended slowly to the front of the tower. Landing gracefully behind the apparent hero, Lio cleared his throat to announce himself.

“Can I help you?” Lio asked, “Do you have an appointment with the Teen Titans?”

Lio had heard word of Robin potentially recruiting another member of the team, but didn’t think he would do it so fast. Lio himself had only been made a probationary member a few weeks ago, so this did seem fast. But at least if that happened he would no longer be the newbie. That was a small plus.

A tall, slender, red-haired girl floated through the tower effortlessly. Her time amongst these halls not nearly as long as the time spent back on her home planet of Tamaran, but the giant T-shaped tower was still home to her. "Come along Silkie! We are heading to the kitchen to get a small bit of nourishment, or what everyone refers to as a 'snack'." As the two alien creatures made their way down to the kitchen, they passed Alrick's room. The door was cracked, and Starfire did her best not to intrude on other's privacy, so she didn't look. Though, the door was cracked, it was cracked just enough to block Soleil standing just on the other side of it. Starfire stopped just on the other side of Alrick's door and called to him. "Alrick, Silkie and I are going down to the kitchen for a snack if you would like to join us." She offered.

The doorbell rang, diverting Starfire's snack plans. "Oh, a visitor. How wonderful. I will greet them!" Starfire floated off to the tower's front entrance. She made her way to the door, and opened it to two gentlemen standing at the door. "Greetings, friends! How may I help you?"

Gracer looked back at the one approaching him. Although he didn't hear him coming, the massive reflective windows of the tower were enough to alert the vigilante-hero of the floater's approach. Barely had the hero who had something similar about him as a Green Lantern asked his question, or Gracer noticed movement from inside the building. "I do." He simply responded, before turning back to the door. It was clear that Gracer did not feel the need to explain himself to the superpowered one who he didn't recognize, even if he didn't seem to be an enemy at the moment.

The door opened, his emotionless gaze being met with that of the alien hero of the Teen Titans. "Greetings. I have been invited by your group." He showed Starfire the opened enveloped with the letter neatly folded back in. "As for this person, I don't know him." He said pre-emptively, not wanting to bring about confusion about the two coming here together. His hands were constantly near the holsters on his hips, hands seemingly relaxed but ready to pick at least one of his pistols if necessary. He wasn't the fastest with his reflexes, even if he saw danger coming from afar, so being close to his weapons was a good way for him to be ready at all times.

He had his hunting rifle as well, worn with a strap over his thick leather jacket as well, as black as his mask. The rifle was his preferred weapon of choice, but in short to medium range, the pistols would have a better advantage with maneuverability as well as fire rate. Cover your grounds, limit your weaknesses. As contrary to those superpowered ones, he was still human, and any regular weakness he had as well. One wrong hit and he was done for. Always made him be a bit on edge. Not out of fear, but out of caution. The latter he practiced, the former he never experienced.

Starfire smiled, and clapped her hands together. "Ah, yes, Robin has been expecting you, Gracer! Please, come in. I am sure Robin is here, but at this moment I am not sure where he is." She stepped aside so that Gracer and Pulse could step in. "Do you have business with Robin as well?" She asked Pulse. "Robin only told me of one arrival." Perhaps Robin just hadn't had a chance to tell her yet.

"I was heading to the kitchen for some light nourishment if you both would like to join me. I am not sure where Robin is off to at the moment, so it might be a while." She offered, trying to be hospitable. "Are you of thirst or hunger?"

Starfire's appearance outside his door caused Alrick to startle slightly. He was usually pretty good at picking up on footsteps approaching, but this whole time travel situation had his full attention. "Oh, thanks, but no thanks, Star. I've got some other stuff I gotta' take care of."

Fortunately, the doorbell called the alien girl away before she could pry into what "stuff" could be. Alrick didn't have a fib ready at all. He should probably work on that, though. A new girl in the tower was bound to draw attention.

Alrick listened at the doorway for a moment, making sure the hall was good and empty.
"Okay, if anyone asks, you're my cousin from out of town." Was that a bad cover? They almost certainly didn't look anything alike. At least the albinism could explain that away on his part. Still, Alrick had never really talked about his family before. Would the others question a random cousin visit too much?

He just had to hope for the best. Alrick led the way down the hall and to the elevator. They could take this one to the main floor, but then they would have to cross a massive shared living space to reach the elevator to the basement. Alrick was sure he could play it cool, but what about his new guest?

Soleil froze hearing Starfire's younger self. They were probably about the same age at this point in time. A mix of emotions boiled within her, but she took a deep breath and steadied herself. Alrick's voice penetrated her thoughts, snapping her back to reality. They were going to head down the basement, likely crossing paths with the rest of the Titans.

"You got it, fam." She said, nodding to him. "Now, are you going to show your cousin around, or are we going to sit here in your room all day?" She asked, selling it just in case anyone else still happened to be around. "I can't wait to see this place." Soleil grinned, winking at Alrick. She lowered her voice so just Alrick could hear. "Thank you."

To be serious for a moment, she had to come up with a quick backstory. She was from...? Seattle. She'd just say she was from Seattle. She had just finished watching Grey's Anatomy reruns. She loved old classic medical dramas like that. Marathons of it were broadcasted on the Oldies Channel. Okay, she was from Seattle and she was here to see Alrick. It had been quite some time since they last saw each other, and he promised to show her around the tower and Jump City. That she be believable enough.

Alrick visited the basement fairly often. A decent sized section of it was dedicated to supplies for the recovery ward. Superheroes went through a lot of gauze. At least that meant he was fairly familiar with the space and could navigate it with confidence. Assuming someone hadn't gone down there and rearranged.

Once down on the main level, Alrick could hear some conversation with an unfamiliar voice. Guess it wasn't DoorDash after all. Were they getting a new guy? By all means, no one tell the medic. Alrick made a mental note to get all the usual information he needed, preferably before the guy was dumped onto a gurney half dead. Allergies, past medical history, any presence of weird reanimation powers...

Oof. Now that he thought about it, didn't Ghost like to do his meditation stuff in the basement? "Darkest part of the tower, good for shadow powers" or something like that. That could be a problem. If anyone in this tower had any hang-ups with reversing someone's ill fated demise, it would probably be that guy. He was filled to the brim with death related angst and resurrection trauma. This was completely different, though...right?

Alrick push those thoughts aside for the time being. He needed to look as if nothing was amiss as they crossed the main floor, past the others engaged in conversation.

As the two newcomers and Starfire stood in the kitchen, she noticed Alrick and someone who looked familiar to her crossing the living room, seemingly headed down to the basement. Was she hurt? Alrick usually headed to the basement for medical supplies. Her head cocked to the side in curiosity, she called out to Alrick. "Alrick, you did not tell us you were expecting a friend today. Please, who is your guest?" She asked, gesturing to Soleil.

Soleil froze when Starfire spoke. Remember why you're here. Remember your story. You're Alrick's cousin. She thought to herself. Soleil became aware of the frozen look on her face and she fixed it quickly. "My name is Soleil." She said with a smile. "I'm Alrick's cousin. I'm visiting from Seattle. It's been a few years at least since we've last seen each other, and I surprised him with a visit. He didn't know I was coming today. My apologies for intruding if I am, I was hoping if it was a low crime day that maybe he and I would have a chance to catch up, hang out.." She wondered if what she was saying was believable enough.

Starfire's eyes closed as a huge smile spread across her face. "Welcome then, friend! Your cousin is of great help to us, and we are pleased to have him as part of the team. Alrick, please enjoy your time with Soleil. We will call on you if you are needed." She told him. She continued to study the girl, however. Something about her seemed familiar and she couldn't place it. She looked a bit like... Robin. But with a similar color hair to that of her own. Who was Soleil, and why was she really here?

Lio was a little put off when the man in the mask simply answered I do. If Robin was testing him as a potential member of the Titans, then he would score low in friendliness. Still, he did seem to be a fellow hero, so Lio gave him a pass. Seeing that no one was answering the door, Lio pulled out his key card, given to him by Robin only about a week ago. Lio guessed that meant he might be moving past the probationary stage of his membership.

But before he could swipe his pass, the door opened to reveal Starfire, the bubbly orange-skinned alien Titan. However her greeting showed no awareness of who Lio was. The young scientist sighed. Was he really such a minor member of the team that the others didn’t even remember him? Granted he didn’t think he had even had a conversation with Starfire herself before. Most of his time at the tower was talking to Robin about the team or with Cyborg about technology. Still he smiled, and tried to make it look like he belonged here.

The other hero who had the appointment stated that he didn’t know Lio, which was far as Lio also had no idea who this other man was. Still they entered the tower together, following behind Starfire. The alien warrior stated that Robin was expecting this man, apparently called Grazer. So they might actually might be getting another new team member. Starfire then turned to Lio and asked if he also had business with Robin.

“Not exactly,” replied Lio, “I guess you don’t recognize me. I’m Pulse. Green Lantern made me join you guys as a probationary member a few weeks ago. I know I haven’t been around here much, since I decided to stay at my apartment then move in. But I am a Titan, or at least a probationary one.”

By now they were in the kitchen, Starfire offering food and drink. Lio politely turned her down, still a little miffed about her forgetting that he existed. Just then a Titan named Alrick and another unknown woman emerged into the kitchen. The woman introduced herself as Alrick’s cousin from Seattle. While they didn’t look anything a like, Lio couldn’t question it as we a lot paler than the rest of his family and tribe.

Remembering why he came to the area, Lio asked, “So has anyone seen anything weird around here. I was tracking some kind of temporal event that originated near here. So has anyone seen any cavemen running around or older versions of people trying to change the past?”

It was an outlandish question, but the data at S.T.A.R. labs backed it up. Something had pulled open time and space for a few seconds within a mile of Titans Tower. Lio really wanted to talk to Robin about it, but it seemed that Grazer had first dibs on meeting with the Titans’ team leader.

He wasn't exactly surprised when Starfire took note of his "cousin". "Sure thing, Starfire. I was just taking her downstairs to show her my stash in case she needs anything." His calm outward demeanor came in handy yet again. He was about to quietly nudge Soleil along when Lio's words momentarily rooted him to the spot.

Oh shit. The feds were onto them.

"Huh, weird. Well, if Fred Flintstone shows up, I'll let you know."

He didn't linger to take any more part in that conversation. Alrick started up his path to the basement elevator yet again.

"So, full disclosure, I don't know where the light switch is down here," He said once the elevator doors closed, "I've never actually needed to use it before. Also, there might be a spooky ghost guy lurking around down there. Just uh...heads up."
