Name: Rachel Roth
Nickname: Rae (She generally doesn't like this)
Alias: Raven
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species/Race: Cambion (Human-Daemon hybrid)
Powers/Abilities:The specific limitations of Raven's power are often hard to pin down, due to the powerful magic of her bloodline and subsequent training, she is often more limited by her own concerns of what drawing on her power could cause than she is by a lack of power.
Her magic has been known to be make the following possible:
- Tele-Empath
- Scry-Detection
- Physical Healing
- Precognition (So far this has never happened deliverately)
- Soul Projection
- Telekensis
- Energy Projection
- Levitation and True-flight
- Teleportation
- Fear Manifestation and Manipulation
- Temporal Stasis
In addition to the effects of her magic, her Cambion biology gives her superhuman durability, if not as extensively as some other members of the Titans.
Description:Cutting a somewhat shorter (some might say stouter) figure than the alien elegance that is Stafire, Raven is no less striking than the other members of the Titans. Her alabaster white skin gives way to the dark black of her hair and demonic red of her iris, a colouration that can extend to even the whites of her eyes when she is wielding her power. Perhaps the most obiously defining aspect of her appearance is the ruby gemstone set at the centre of her forehead, an unusual trait that is often covered by the cowl of her hood.
Backstory:Angela Roth, a woman down on her luck in the notoriously troubled city of Gotham, found support and solace only among the manipulative members of a small underground cult. In exchange for food and shelter, she agreed to take part in a ritual which brough the demon, Trigon, to the mortal plane. Once complete, the pair were charmed by each other (the later in his human disguise) and so this demonic being took Angela to be his human bride. Angela, however, was not prepared for Trigon's true visage, nor the full extent of his evil design for the Earth. She fled both him and the cult, although continued escape would have likely been impossible if not for the intervention of the peaceful, but sorcerous, Azarathians, who offered her shelter in the pocket dimension they had forged into their home.
Once among them, Angela took the name Arella, and eventually gave birth to her daughter, a half-demonic being she would name Rachel. Unable to provide much care for her daughter, Arella instead allowed the Azathian, Azar, to raise her. Azar would instruct Rachel in the ways of sorcery and meditation as she grew, able to wield both the magic of the Azathian's and the untapped power of her bloodline. Rachel's past was not hidden from her, for the importance in teaching her the abilit to control her emotions, to not draw the attention of Trigon, was paramount. After the ancient Azar passed away, Rachel was plagued with visions of Trigon and his plans for her, discovering the name the demon knew her by, Raven.
These visions would grow worse over the years, until eventually Rachel, now largely using the name Raven as a self reminder of the danger she presented, left the Azarathians to confront her father in the demonic realm of Limbo. To her suprise, Trigon seemed pleased to see her, and at the efforts the Azarathians had made to train her, seeing her eventual fall to his will as inevitable. He did not seek to stop her fleeing back out of Limbo, promising only that they would see each other again, where she would willingly join him. Instead of returning home, Raven instead fled to Earth, arriving in Jump City where she first encountered the Titans at their early formation.
While she may still be distant from many on Earth, she values the companionship of her fellow Titans greatly, a development she fears will one day onlu ensure their demise at the hand of her father.
Fandom origin: Teen Titans
Personality:Raven, especially when she first came to Earth, is of a dour and reserved nature. Taught from a young age to control and surpress her emotions, she often comes across as cold and unwelcoming. In truth, she cares a great deal for both her friends and the world in general, which only makes her task of controlling herself all the more important. Those who know her well, however, have no doubt experienced Raven's dry with, an often sarcastic sense of humour that makes itself known eventually, and a sign that she is not quite the emotionless being she will often pretend to be.
She tends towards being fatalistic and pessimistic, due to the pressure that has always been placed upon her, but increasingly her friends have begun to teach her that perhaps life is worth living to the full, and that her fate is not yet written.
