I’m cool with having Nyarlathotep be a representative for the other Elder beings, basically their small window into what is going on on Earth. Also I’m totally down for you playing a weaker Avatar as it would mean that you are closer in power scale to the other members of the Council of Night.

So, you’ve convinced me, Kitsunes are monsters. So I was thinking perhaps we tone down the whole time and space bending, and focus more on the madness inducing and feeding on human’s energy. Also if you want, you could make your character the representative for all Yokai, as no one else seems to want to play a Yokai.

While having a character like Jason Voorhees would be interesting, I have to ask why he would care about being on the Council of Night? Like Jason mostly just goes about killing people without saying a world, so I doubt he cares much for the politics of all monsters.

However, if you just want to keep the undead serial killer angle, but drop Jason’s personality, you could have someone, maybe Freddy Krueger like, who has a big personality and maybe runs something like a serial killer organization. Like if all the various supernatural serial killers from movies formed a union, you would be head of the union.

Or if you want to try your other two ideas, we could do that. Like I said earlier, a mummy would be perfectly fine as the original premise for this RP was the classic monsters in modern day. I was also hoping someone would play an alien, hence why I added the sci-fi tag to the thread. So the Thing could work, if we tweak it a little. Perhaps they are on the Council waiting until there is a way to get off Earth. Or maybe it’s just settled into a feeding pattern and is on the Council just to maintain its share of the human stock.

Hopefully that makes sense to you.

On that last note, I hope someone does pick an alien cause I'd love to see their interaction with ye olde eldritch messenger boy.

I would be good with playing an ancient Mummy that is on the council. Even funding the council with varies investments.

I believe someone wanted to play Nyarlathotep, so my character could be connected to them somehow.

I could also have a second character that is the leader of some anicnet Martian or interdimensional race of aliens on the council.

That would be me, the person who wants to play Nyarlathotep. Just let me know what kind of ideas you've got and maybe we can brainstorm something.

Would you like for me to DM you so we brainstorm some ideas? I'm thinking of my mummy character being in contact with Nyarlathotep. And or achieving his powers with the help of Nyarlathotep or the curse placed on him like in the movie.

So either the Mummy or the alien would work. However, at this time I am limiting each player to one character, so you’ll need to decide which concept you like more.

Also, since we have a lot of interested players, I’m going to start working on the OOC thread. So expect that in the next few days.

While I'm still keen on playing Nyarlathotep, I have just realized that a figure such as Lucifer/Satan or Samael might have more of a reason to be on the council in the first place. That being human souls. Now I'm not sure what they'd do with them, maybe they eat them, maybe they use them as building material, or maybe they corrupt them to make more demons or just to spite whatever celestial powers that be, but nevertheless the devil would have a stronger motivation to make sure the council remains as it was before Dracula disappeared.

Plus he could have history with the old vampire given some interpretations of where Dracula got his powers from. Or, barring that, common ground in their hatred of God (who I imagine wouldn't be omnipotent in this and more just a powerful deity). I know there are issues with this power scaling wise and such, and we only get one character so I'd need to decide which idea to pursue more, but I just thought I'd mention it since Nyarlathotep's only real motivation is to start shit and cause chaos.

I am iffy about having Satan himself as a member of the Council of Night. The power scaling is just way off. But if you wished to play a different demon, who could be an emissary for Satan, that might work better. Or you could stay with your first choice. You don't need to make up your mind this second as it will be a few days before I post the OOC thread.
