It's another crisp spring day in the Johto reigon, when a familiar commercial begins to play on a nearby television...
"Hey there trainers! Are you wanting to take the GYM CHALLENGE this spring? Well the Pokémon League has a deal for YOU! The champion himself has decided to re-take the gym challenge, and a handful of lucky trainers will get to travel with him, learning from the best of the best! Call now or enter online to..."
It was no secret at this point that the Pokémon League was unhappy with their current champion. He used to be a battling prodigy all those years ago, but the years have not been kind to him. They say he hasn't lost a single battle in nearly a decade, and that he's spent a fortune perfecting his team, importing rare and powerful Pokémon, buying special vitamins and training equipment, and breeding them to perfection. After all this time, the champion has become somewhat jaded, and has lost his passion for battling. He sees battling as more of a chore than a sport now, and his personality is said to have completely shifted. What was once a fiery young man who loved the sport has become bitter, apathetic, and depressed after losing his passion. He's stated before that he doesn't even want to be champion anymore, but his pride won't let him throw away his title to the next random challenger.
The Pokémon League and Johto Elite Four have decided that just getting rid of him would likely cause all sort of legal and press issues, but with how low the challenger rate is for the Johto League, they're left with few choices. Eventually, they settled on the plan of having him re-take the gym challenge. This way, he would start fresh, with a different perspective. They hoped it would help spark his lost passion for the sport, seeing what has changed during his time as champion, and that traveling with young, up-and-coming trainers might help him connect with his past self. So, the drawing was held, and a certain few lucky trainers would get to learn under his belt.
The champion, of course, was not happy in the slightest. But evem after much protesting, it was apparent he wasn't going to get his way. He was either going to stay sitting in the champion's room all day, or finally get some vacation time, albeit a working vacation. And so he went to New Bark Town, a place famous for being a starting point for the gym challenge. There he'd wait for the lucky (or unlucky) trainers he be getting dragged along by. What awaits our champion and the new trainers? What has changed in the past years for our champion? Can you help him find his lost passion for battling? Will he remain a mopey dickhead, or become the fiery young man he used to be? Why am I asking so many questions? So yeah, TL;DR Champion is big sad because he's too good at his job, league puts him on mandatory fun time with a handful of children to make him not sad.
Heads up, it's been a hot minute since I've had to make a character sheet, so forgive me if I forgot something.
Character name: What is your character's name? Do they have a nickname?
Sex: Self-explanatory. If you answer with "Yes" I'm going to hit you.
Age: I don't mind if you're a little young or past your teens, but reminder that these are supposed to be up-and-coming new trainers. A 50 year old man would be out of place, and so would an 11 year old child.
Appearance: An image can only show so much. Is your character shorter than average? Do they have any scars or tattoos? Any accessories that might be somewhat hidden or not in your image?
Personality: How does your character act around others? Are there any particular traits that stand out?
Bio: Your backstory and motivation. Are you a native to Johto? Where did you get your starter? Why choose to enter the drawing? Are you familiar with the champion and his exploits, or do you not pay much attention to League stuff?
Inventory: What kind of items are you carrying with you?
Trivia: Is there anything else we need to know about your character? Their speech color hexcode? Do they dislike rock types? An insatiable lust for certain types of food?
Also, you guys want a discord, or keep this Localized?
I think a discord would be beneficial for this, especially when it comes to battling. Battles in Pokémon RPs tend to drag things down when you're just going post by post in my experience; collabing over discord is quicker.
Any restrictions on what we can pick for starters?

I'd ask that you start with one or maybe two Pokémon. And I'd prefer if they were either in their first forms, or if they were a single stage Pokémon.
Appearance: Katsu is around 5'9 and has a small scar on the left side of his face from an unfortunate encounter with a Rattata he had when he was 12.
Personality: Katsu is a bit quiet when first meeting new people but if you can get him to start talking about Pokemon you'll have a difficult time shutting him up. If he loses a battle, he usually tries to think up a counter strategy for the next time to beat the opposing trainer.
Bio: Katsu is a native to the Kanto region and is fairly new to Johto, having only moved to the region three weeks ago. As such, he has no idea where many of the towns are. Katsu was born on Saffron City back in the Kanto region and although his mother left shortly after he was born, his father was determined to make sure his son grew up wanting for nothing. His father did everything he could to make sure Katsu had a wonderful childhood and early on saw his son's love for the Pokemon he saw in the city. The only thing he wasn't sure about was if Katsu would ever want to take the gym challenge as each time he asked him if that was what he wanted, he would always get a different answer.
That situation changed when Katsu was fourteen as one cold and snowy night, Katsu was walking home from a friend's house near the limits of Saffron City when he heart a faint whimpering coming from the side of an old building. Despite not having a Pokemon of his own yet, he investigated the sound and saw a Squirtle. The poor thing was shivering violently and as Katsu approached it, the Pokemon looked up at him with sad, lonely eyes. Next to it was an empty box that that had a sign on it with the words "Useless Pokemon."
Katsu, upon seeing what was written on the box, without hesitation reached down and carefully picked up the shivering Pokemon and immediately went home. Once the situation was explained to his father, the Squirtle was wrapped in blankets and brought over to the Pokemon Center. It took a while but eventually the Pokemon fully recovered and Katsu and his Squirtle formed an inseparable bond. Shortly after Katsu's fifteen birthday, his father was transferred to the Pokemart in Cherrygrove city. On the way to the Johto region, they had a long talk about what both Katsu and his Squirtle wanted to do. Katsu was somewhat intimidated by the idea of taking the gym challenge as he knew pretty much nothing about the Johto region when a commercial came on the radio.
Katsu listened with growing excitement as the commercial announced that the Champion was once again taking the gym challenge and that a group of trainers would be allowed to travel with him. This sounded like the perfect opportunity! Learn about the region, learn from the champion and watch him take on the gym challenge?! It sounded like the perfect opportunity. After speaking with his father and making sure Squirtle was okay with the idea of going on an adventure, the three of them briefly settled into their home in Cherrygrove City where Katsu entered into the competition online and eagerly waited to see if he had won.
Inventory: Five unoccupied Pokeballs, three potions and an antidote.
Trivia: Katsu's father has promised not to interfere if his son wins and is able to join the champion. No discounts at the Pokemart for anything. He has to stand on his own two feet if he wins.

She is wearing her academy uniform as technically she is on a school assignment as this journey is her treasure hunt, though she has opted out of her assigned shoes for more comfortable red, black, and white cross-fit shoes that are water resistant. Lucia also has a brown canvas messenger bag and a hip bag strapped around her waist filled with things she would need for taking care of her pokemon, such as potions and other cures, along with pokeballs to catch new pokemon.
Personality: Lucia is a geeky girl who is very into Pokemon and fantasy and who loves to draw and write. She likes to keep the mood around her light perfecting keeping a smile even if she is in turmoil, to the point where Lucia comes off fake to people who catch on you her facade. Lucia is generally a kind and accepting person but will stand up to bullies when the time calls for it, and is a strong-willed girl who will fight for what they believe in until enough evidence is shown to prove her wrong, this is also a weakness as her strong will turns into stubbornness that will come back to bite her.
Bio: Lucia is originally from the Paldea region, having attended Naranja Academy for a few years. Though they have some experience raising, training, and battling pokemon, she had no pokemon of her own until recently catching Ralts, who she lovingly named La Fey.
While Lucia was younger, her mother left a pokemon journey to relive the journey she took as a kid in Johto with her beloved pokemon. Her mother was only supposed to be gone for a few months, however, after not getting their regular calls they decided something went wrong. Her father traveled to Johto while Lucia was in living in the dorms at the academy in order to search for her. Years passed and there was no sign of Lucia’s mother and she and her father were forced to move on.
Hearing about the chance to not only go on an adventure with Isaac Skye, the long-reigning champion of Jhoto but to travel around Jhoto itself, Lucia eagerly signed up for the opportunity having been selected she ready herself for her first pokemon journey and a chance to find her mom.

Appearance: Danny has two Pokeball holders, each capable of holding three 'balls, on either side of his belt.
Personality: While Danny isn't lazy or cowardly he very much prefers to take the easy way when possible, even if he knows it isn't always the best choice. He can take a while to warm to others, both people and pokemon, but he tries to be at least pleasant with everyone.
Bio: Danny has lived his entire life in Violet City, where both his parents work as teachers for the Pokemon school. Despite his parents'jobs and the fact that he lived in a town with a Gym Danny never had much interest in pokemon for most of his life. He didn't hate them or anything they just weren't his cup of tea, his parents also know better than to try and force their passion onto him, both because they wanted him to live his life and because they knew it was likely to backfire.
This lack of interest lasted until he was about thirteen and the egg of his neighbor's Houndoom hatched. His neighbor wanted to introduce the newborn Pokemon to anyone he might come across on a regular basis in a controlled environment and the puppy took an immediate liking to Danny. It didn't take long until Danny returned the Houndour's affections and when Hades was old enough Danny parents and neighbor arranged for him to become Hades' trainer.
Even with Hades it took Danny some time to warm up to the idea of going on a Pokemon journey but when he heard about the champion taking along new trainers he figured that was an once in a life time chance that should both make his parents happy that he is getting more into Pokemon and make the journey much easier.

Held item: Black Glasses Trivia: Hades is the puppy of a Houndoom owned by Danny's neighbor
Here's my hat into this metaphorical ring; hope Ginger and her little brat baby are up to snuff :3
"Th' names' Ginger, 'n don't ya EVER forget it!"
Character name: Ginger Lockhearte
Sex: Female
Age: 17
Appearance: Ginger stands fairly tall at 5'9 (175 CM), but her build is lanky and unkempt, notably unathletic despite her choice of attire showing herself off. Her hair is...Obviously not natural. What gave it away, the six different colors? She uses plenty of dyes, and often too, though in the rare instances where she forgets or simply hasn't had time to keep up with her demanding hairstyle, her brown roots can start to tear through.
She wears a heavily cropped black tank-top that she rarely ever changes, even in extreme temperatures (much to her regret at times), and her thick cargo pants that share the same coloration, complete with a sortie of pockets she uses to hold all sorts of things, from berries, to medicine, to anything else a trainer could need...Or she would, if she were at all prepared for this. She also wears striped gloves and stockings, reminiscent of a Galarian Zigzagoon in a sense, and a belt that packs the same color combination, if not anywhere near the same sort of pattern. Lastly would be her muddy-brown boots, more than a little worn, as if she's already been on a few little adventures of her own.
Or maybe they're just old.
...Oh, and we probably shouldn't forget about her guitar, which ranks as her most important object on her person (....Okay, it's behind her partner's Pokeball. Barely.), and she can and will enact violence both physical and verbal upon anyone who so much as touches it without her express permission, of which she will never give...Probably.
Personality: Ginger is certainly...Rough around the edges. Having fallen in with the wrong crowd back in her homeland of Galar, this punk-rock gal has a bite to her that most aren't eager to bear with. She's quick to aggression, whether in or out of a Pokémon battle, and isn't afraid to get up in people's faces when she feels slighted or wronged in any way. Underneath the crass exterior, however, is a sweet girl whose just too upset with herself to get out of the funk she's been in for years, and her previous company didn't help in that matter. As such, while she's got an exterior rockier than an Onix, if you're willing to bear through with it, and if she can actually let some friendly advice reach through her thick skull, perhaps she can open up and be the kind gal she used to be.
Bio: Ginger's story begins in the region of Galar, raised by a single mother. She never knew her father, and frankly, as she grew up, without anything else to really think of the man, she just believed he was some asshole bum who left her greater-than-Arceus mum behind like a real class-act arse. Her mum was a Pokémon nurse, working in a subsidiary of the Pokémon Centers everyone knows and loves, so she made a more than acceptable living, and that reflected in that younger Ginger. She never had to want for much in life, and with her doting and kind mum by her side, she grew to be a kind and reliable little lady. Really, the only thing she ever 'wanted' was to take on the Galar Pokémon League, having grown up watching all kinds of exciting battles in stadiums region-wide, given the nature of her mum's work took them to and fro.
Her mother gave her the chance to eventually pursue this dream when she was around 14; while the staff never figured out who exactly had left it behind, a Pokémon egg was found in her mum's workplace, and when no one could be found to claim it as their own, she chose to bring it home to her sweet daughter, letting her raise the mystery Pokémon from its egg. When it hatched, color them surprised when a Toxel was what greeted their eyes; native to Galar, certainly, but far from a common Pokémon. It was exciting, certainly, but...Well, even raised from an egg, Ginger and the Toxel never seemed to be able to meet eye-to-eye. Regardless, after enough time had managed to make it at least vaguely agreeable in a battle scenario, she excitedly took her opportunity to journey through her home region.
However, her adventure was far from excellent. Toxel, while it always remained by her side, was a constant toxic thorn in her side with its needy, selfish behavior that the clueless young lass was completely unequipped to manage, and for whatever reason, she never quite seemed to get other Pokémon to be all too happy with her either. It was...Demoralizing, but far from the end of the world. She was confident that if she could prove herself in a Gym Battle, perhaps they would find her more approachable and enticing as a potential trainer. So, Ginger boldly went forth to the city of Turffield to face off against Milo, and...
Lost. Spectacularly.
She couldn't understand why; sure, Toxel was being as aggravating as ever, but she thought she had trained him as best she could, and they had a Type advantage, too! What had she done wrong?! While she was politely ushered off the field and to the Pokémon Center after her defeat, it clung to her like the Curse of a Ghost-Type. She was demoralized, and though she attempted the challenge a few times afterwards, they ended up about the same. Too ashamed to go running back with her proverbial tail between her legs to her mum, she half-heartedly wandered the region, and managed to end up in Spikemuth. In most circumstances, not much would've likely happened here, but as it turned out, her partner was quite the popular Pokémon around there. Unexpectedly, she got tied up with some punks in the dingy alleys of the town, and she found that...She kinda vibed with their style. Maybe it was because of how downtrodden and low she was, or maybe she just really needed to let loose, but she took to their reckless and bordering criminal at times activities straight to her heart. Whether it was spray-painting darkened walls or letting loose in big rock sessions, Ginger took to the energy of Spikemuth like a Ducklett to water. Which...Made things extremely awkward when her mom came to find out where her baby girl had gone off to.
See, her mum had apparently gotten a new job offer abroad in Johto, and had, at least initially, declined; she wanted to tell her sweet child about this before she made any decisions, especially since they were off on their all-important Gym Challenge! She was certain her brave young girl was already well on her way to qualifying for the big Tournament to become a champion! But, imagine her surprise when, for the first time in her life, Ginger didn't pick up her Rotom Phone! She tried a few times, but having given up after a week of missed calls, resolved to find her daughter herself, come Distortion World or high waters! It had taken her quite some time, but talking her way through a chain of folks who had seen her girl, mum had found herself in Spikemuth, with a rambunctious and uncouth lass who was almost unrecognizable to the demure and sweet girl who had left the apartment that faithful day.
...But it was still her daughter, and she recognized her instantly, in spite of everything.
While it made for a very awkward scene to have in front of her cool new mates, Ginger was eventually shuffled off by her sweet mum and told the news. At first, she vehemently denied the proposition, though told her mum that she could go if she wanted; that she could look after herself, now, and she had pals she didn't want to leave behind. Ever patient and understanding, her mum agreed, but offered to stick around for the next few weeks in case she changed her mind, also wishing to take the chance to catch up with her little girl. When she told her fellow punks and thugs, however, she got...A surprising response. They told her she should take the shot. They spoke of the kind of gal she was when they'd all first met her, and while they were happy to help her find something new to find strength in, they also knew she was just burnin' her wheels in circles here. She needed to get out there and do something, not just spend her life chumming out in the dark corners of a town that wasn't even her own. At first rightly pissed at their seeming turn, in the self-imposed isolation thereafter, she contemplated...And caved. They were prolly right. With a heavy heart, she gave her goodbyes to her good mates of Spikemuth, and beside her mum, made her way to the new Johto region, a chance at a new life...
And man, did it stink!
Having spent the last year in Cherrygrove City nearly drove her off her rocker. There were so few people her age there, all just a buncha old geezers who didn't get her vibes. Sweet Arceus, most of them hadn't even heard of Roxie! Could ya believe it?! It was bloody miserable. And as far as getting back into the swing of being a Pokémon Trainer? Forget it! There were so few in the area, and they were all novices, the lot of them! Worse yet, after she'd cooked most of their keisters, most of 'em wanted her advice! She couldn't bear all the little tweens and tots tryin' to pry her brain for a cookie crumb of information, so it led to her sticking to their rent-out house most days, and spending her time at night when the brats were put to bed. Still, there wasn't much to do even when a bunch of snot-nosed kids weren't shoved upon her, and, well....She knew she could try the Johto League challenge, but her time in Galar's League still weighed on her. She didn't feel ready...Didn't know if she'd ever feel ready again. So, she stuck to herself, messing about on forums with the home's computer and posting to her mates through her ever-reliable Rotom Phone.
...Things changed very recently. When she got home after a rare morning walk (as Toxel had gotten really pouty, so she relented and scrounged about the nearby route for a few Oren Berries for the ever-needy little lady), her mum had a weird smile on her face. When she asked what was up, it was like a torrent of information. Most prudently, that Ginger had been apparently signed up to some kind of lotto by her mum, unbeknownst to her. No biggie; not like they'd win anything. Except they did. Huh. So, she asked what they won. And it was...A journey through the region's Pokémon League with the Arceus-forsaken Champion of the bloody region?! She could feel her whole body growing cold at the prospect, and she screamed at her mum to do something, like, revoke the reward or something! But, sweet and patient as ever, she simply remarked that she'd already accepted it for her sweet girl, certain that this journey would go much better for her! And she'd have friends to travel with this time, too!
...Ginger was crushed. Absolutely crushed. But...Perhaps some very small part of her held hope, that this might be just what she needed. Or maybe she was just mortified at the prospect of ignoring her reward, as if it would scorn the champion; that's the last thing she'd want! She kept up on the internet, the bloke was a menace! Er, on the battlefield, at least. As a person, from all the talk shows and stuff he just seemed kinda dead on the inside. Which she could relate to a bit. And, well, she did think he looked kinda cool, and even if most of his matches online were absolute stomps, they were a heckuva watch...
...Okay, maybe she'd bite. But only because the champion was involved!
Inventory: Having been caught completely unawares by this prospect, nothing, really. Though she always keeps a few Oran Berries handy for when Toxel gets her munchies to avoid becoming her shock outlet, and mum was on the ball for her, giving her five Pokéballs to work with...Not that she expected any Pokémon to actually be willing to shack up with her, if her experience in Galar and with her partner had taught her anythin'.
Trivia: Ginger will be using the hexcode c4df9b. She's also absolutely horrified of most Bug-Type Pokémon, to the point where it even shatters her rough-and-tumble punk exterior for brief moments when caught unawares. She's also a massive Roxie fan, and if she finds out you aren't, she'll certainly try and make you one.
Name: Chili Pepper (occasionally shortened to 'Cheepy')
Species: Toxel
Ability: Rattled - Bug, Ghost, and Dark-Type Moves scare her and raise her Speed.
Moves: Acid, Belch, Nuzzle, and Tearful Look
Nature/Personality: Naughty Nature. A Pokémon that seems to understand its standing as a 'Baby Pokémon', and abuses it maliciously to get what it wants. The only one who doesn't fall for her antics is Ginger herself, which might be why their relationship is as toxic (heh) as it is. Still, they get along well enough; definitely better than back in Galar, at least.
Held Item: Oran Berry. She gets very moody without consistent snacks, much to Ginger's chagrin.
Trivia: Does everything in her power to get Ginger's attention, which often includes things that also get Ginger in serious trouble, like briefly paralyzing random bystanders or sneaking random items out of a Pokémart.
@Ravyn of Light A literal school girl, always gotta have one of those. Motivation is a little weird, but I suppose it works. Toss her in.
@Duthguy Ah, somebody else who doesn't really want to be here. This should be interesting. If you could also fix the blank "character name" at the top of your sheet that'd be great. Otherwise, once that's fixed, toss him in.
@Mintz Make that two people who don't want to be here. Also, that guitar is 100% not making it through this journey. And boy is she going to love fighting Bugsy. Toss her in.
"You know, sometimes it feels like Pokémon understand me better than people do. They don’t judge me, and they bring out the best in me. I’m grateful to have such wonderful friends.”
Character name: Timothy “Tim” Wolfe
Sex: Male
Age: 15
Appearance: Tim is noticeably short. It's not something he likes people bringing up. Despite seeming weak and fragile based on his personality, he is actually stronger than he looks. He has a slender, but still toned build and is physically fit due to having spent a lot of time running around outside chasing his Rockruff. He spends a good amount of time in the sun so his skin is lightly tanned as a result, not pale but not bronzed either. He has a mop of black hair on top of his head, and his bangs go to his eyebrows. He has big brown eyes, a small nose, and a round "Babyface", which give him a youthful appearance. His face is clean-shaven, and his upper body is free of any hair except the top of his head and eyebrows. A lot of people consider him cute, but Tim finds getting that kind of attention embarrassing.
Tim prefers to dress simply and casually. He doesn't want to have to fuss with his clothes, or worry about ruining them, as well as being comfortable in them. His usual outfit usually consists of a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers. His favorite shirt is a loose-fitting light blue T-shirt with a white silhouette of a bird on it. He wears a pair of white cargo shorts on the bottom that are held up by a black leather belt. His footwear of choice are a pair of comfortable blue and white sneakers and short white socks. He also wears a light blue knit hat on top of his head that his mom knitted for him. He carries a blue backpack to store whatever essential items he might need to have at the moment.
Personality: Tim is a shy and quiet individual by nature. He was always this way, and being bullied as a kid didn't help. He is very sensitive and emotional, and has an easy time showing empathy and compassion for others. He can easily be driven to tears when he's sad. He fears being bullied. He usually speaks with a quiet voice, and occasionally a stutter when he's nervous. He also becomes very apologetic when someone shows any hint of being upset. He likes Pokemon of all kinds. From the cute ones to the not so cute ones, he can find something to love about every species. He usually prefers being with Pokemon than with people. Pokemon will listen without judgement, and only expect a little kindness in return. He is gentle and softspoken, which seems to be the reason why he has such an easy time with Pokémon. He gets scared easily, his worst phobia being stage fright. He gets really nervous when there are a lot of people watching him do anything. He's scared that he'll mess up, and that he'll be laughed at. He has self confidence issues, and he dislikes being the center of attention, in a good or bad way. He really wants to be brave, but it's harder than it looks.
Despite being shy, he is by no means antisocial. If you talk to him, you'll find he's quite friendly, and polite. He can laugh and make jokes like any other kid. He is always happy to have to new friends, because his shyness makes it difficult to make them. He is very affectionate and loyal to those he likes. He hates it when people are angry around him, so he tries his best to keep the peace. In conversations, he is usually more of a listener than a talker, and he has no problems being a sounding board when someone wants to vent (As long as they don't hurt him.) Tim is very kind to others, often to a fault. He is very trusting of people, and is willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Tim is usually very difficult to anger, and is very quick to forgive someone when he does get mad. He is more likely to start crying when he is upset. He doesn't want to burden others with his problems, and he fears being made fun of, so he keeps them to himself. This causes him personal frustration, and he occasionally acts passive agressive towards those he disagrees with. When it gets to be too much, he'll lash out at the target, and let out his pent up rage. He dislikes bullying (towards himself or others,) as well as people being needlessly cruel to Pokemon. Doing one of those things is the best way to get him upset.
Tim is very careful and calculating. He always thinks before he speaks, and prefers not to wrecklessly jump into danger. However, due to his insecurity he is often uncertain if the choices he makes are the right ones. He can easily be convinced to change his mind. This leaves him with some anger when the plan fails and he knew his original idea would have worked. He also doesn't like violence all that much, having been a victim of it. He will participate in Pokemon battles, but only because his Pokemon want to participate.
Although he doesn't look like it, Tim has a big appetite. He likes eating many different kinds of foods, and has the cooking skills to match.
Bio: Tim was born in Olivine City. His parents had a hard time concieving a child, and when Tim's mother did finally get pregnant, the pregnancy was very difficult on her. When they finally had their son, he was their miracle baby. Tim's parents weren't rich, but they did all they could to give their son a good life, and give him every advantage. While they expressed having high hopes for their son's success, they tried not to put too much pressure on the boy. For the most part, his life was normal. Tim was often a target of bullying because of his shyness, tendency to get scared easily, and because he was clumsy. No matter what he did to get them to stop it, it always failed or they found something else to give him crap about. It gave him self-esteem issues, resulting in him becoming even more timid. As a result, he had very few friends growing up. He didn't tell anyone about the bullying, lest it become worse. He saw other kids get beaten up much worse after they snitched, and he didn't want that to happen. So he kept it all inside and let his resentment build.
From an early age, he always had a special talent for caring for Pokemon. His mother was a Pokemon doctor, while his father was a professional Pokemon Breeder, Tim often volunteered taking care of the Pokemon at his mother's office, or his dad would bring home some of the Pokemon he was looking after, so he practically grew up around Pokemon. They seem to be fond of him due to his softspoken nature. He often finds sick, or injured Pokemon and cares for, plays with, and feeds them when no one else will. Around Pokemon, Tim felt much more like himself. He found relief from the stresses of life, and he's found they are the best friends he could ask for. He always knew he wanted to do something with Pokemon when he gets older. He just wasn't sure what.
Tim was very excited when he received a Pokemon Egg on his tenth birthday, and more excited when it hatched into a Rockruff. Life continued as normal for the boy. The bullying he went through still had an effect on him, which is why he doesn’t talk to others all that much. After he finished school, Tim knew what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to raise and care for Pokemon just like his parents do.
It was his mother’s idea to send him off to enter him in the drawing. She felt being in a group of other kids, guided by the champion will give him more confidence, and give him the opportunity to make new friends. Tim wasn’t sure about the idea, and doesn’t really pay much attention to league stuff, but seeing as his mother already made up her mind, Tim didn’t have any choice in the matter.

Moves: Tackle, Leer, Sand Attack, Rock Throw
Nature and Personality: Jolly Nature Rocky is very friendly and full of energy. He loves meeting new people, and Pokemon, and can be seen chatting them up, as well as acting cute to charm others. He is very affectionate with his trainer, and often licks his face, or nuzzles his ankles. Unlike his trainer, Rocky actually likes taking part in Pokemon Battles, which is the only reason Tim does them in the first place. He is out of the Pokeball more often than not, and is usually being carried in Tim's arms, or walking alongside him. He has also very energetic, and likes running around and playing a lot.
Nature and Personality: Calm Nature. Flora is a calm and gentle Pokemon. She is just as sweet and shy as Tim is. She isn’t comfortable with battles, but participates when necessary.
"Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision, starting out the way I did. But whenever I get a win, and I feel like I earned it? That feeling lets me know I chose right."
Character name: Thomas Thorne
Sex: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: Thomas is a little on the short side at only 5’ 6” but makes up for that with an abundance of energy instead. He is physically fit, believing that a trainer must work as hard as their Pokémon and lead by example to succeed. His pale skin is contrasted by his black hair and equally dark eyes; brown, but a shade so dark they appear black at a glance. In terms of clothing he prefers things that are touch and durable, so as to last a while on the road; the only exception to this is his muffler, a red and black scarf given to him by someone important.
Personality: In a nutshell, you could describe Thomas as a hot-headed youth with a chip on his shoulder; energetic and boisterous, he is someone with a lot of passion whose quick temper can often get the better of him. His passion serves him well when it drives him to put effort into a task or when he needs to overcome setbacks, but has also served to alienate him from his peers due to the number of fights he has gotten into with them.
This has led him to become intensely loyal to those who have stuck by him in turn, which for the most part is just his Pokémon; should he make other friends they too will be able to always count on him to take their side, right or wrong.
Bio: Like many young boys, Thomas wanted to become a trainer when he was a kid. Unlike most, he grew up in New Bark town, home to the lab of a genuine Professor of Pokémon and as such had a small chance of being one of those lucky folks chosen to be some kind of research assistant and given a Pokémon to give him a head start on his journey. It was something that he saw happen every now and then, when some kid a few years older than him would go into the lab and come out a few minutes later with a shiny new Pokéball in hand and a determined look on their face as they ran off down the path that led out of town.
It should have been his dream to be like them. If he wanted to be a trainer then he should have wanted to be called into that lab too some day; to stare at that building from his bedroom window with starry eyes. But instead, whenever he saw one of those kids leave town with a rare and powerful Pokémon that no other trainer starting their journey had access to he couldn’t but think that it felt… cheap. Unfair. Like the victories you would get afterwards would feel unearned, somehow. Thomas said as much as to some of the other kids in town and quickly found out that this was an unpopular opinion, since he wasn’t the only one who wanted to become a trainer but was apparently the only one who thought getting a strong Pokémon from the professor was somehow ‘cheating’.
He got into a lot of arguments when he was younger and more than a few fights, because kids will argue about anything they think is important and Thomas was always someone to let his temper get the better of him. His opinions about the right way to become a trainer were a common reason for these fights, but hardly the only one. Each fight only drove his opinions deeper, gave him more reason to cling to them and turn them into convictions, to stubbornly claim that he didn’t need any help to become a trainer and boldly state that he wouldn’t take one of the Professor’s rare Pokémon even if he was offered one.
Years later, when he was at about the right age to become a trainer himself, Thomas took the money he had been saving up and bought a bunch of Pokéballs and without even glancing at the building the Professor called his lab set off into the woods to catch a Pokémon of his own. It was harder than he had expected and took all of the Pokéballs he had, but he managed to do it and soon found himself running down the same path out of town that he had watched many trainers before him run down; the Pokéball in his hand decidedly less shiny and the look on his face more stubborn than determined. He would challenge the eight gyms and beat them; he would tackle the Elite Four and even the Champion if he wanted to. And he would do it all without any help or hand-outs and with nothing but the hard work of him and his Pokémon to thank for it.
It didn’t go well.
As it turned out, being a trainer was kind of difficult and Thomas didn’t seem to have any particular talent for it. Despite leaving home a full year ago, he has to begrudgingly admit he’s barely in the same league as most trainers just starting their journey and has only managed to catch a single other Pokémon so far. He has yet to challenge the first overseer and currently doesn’t feel like he would stand much of a chance against them even if he did. Sometimes he’ll see another trainer come along with their shiny Pokéball and bad filled with items and watch as they just overtake him in an instant.
It was right when he was thinking of giving in and crawling back home when he saw the announcement about the Champion retaking the gym challenge and the lottery for trainers to join him on that journey. Entering that lottery would mean going back on what he’d said as a kid; sure, it wasn’t quite the same as having the Professor set you up to become a trainer, but it was definitely a huge helping hand for someone like him to tag along with the Champion. It would still mostly be up to him if he won or lost, but he wouldn’t be able to say he did it entirely on his own or say for sure that he could have done it without the Champion’s help. It was… a harder decision than it should have been, submitting his name to the competition and he couldn’t help but think he was betraying something when he did. But hey, it wasn’t like he was even going to win, so what did it matter? Right?
Now he doesn’t know what to think.
Inventory: Food mostly, a basic first aid kit and a sleeping bag.

Name: Storm
Species: Yamper
Ability: Ball Fetch
Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Nuzzle
Nature and Personality: Jolly. Energetic, friendly and with a positive attitude that can’t be dampened no matter what. They say that a Pokémon’s personality changes to match the owner, but if anything Storm’s good cheer is changing Thomas rather than the other way around.
Held item: None
Name: Night
Species: Poochyena
Ability: Quick Feet
Moves: Tackle, Howl
Nature and Personality: Naughty. Wilful and stubborn, Night doesn’t like to listen to his trainer most of the time and finds it amusing to cause him problems. He is more subdued around people and Pokémon he doesn’t know and being disobedient seems to be a sign that he is comfortable enough with you to do so.
@King Cosmos I find it somewhat fitting that the rebel guy looks like a dollar store persona protagonist. I'm sure you and the wannabe rockstar totally won't butt heads and fight constantly. Send him over.

It's also likely he will clash with Danny as he is known to prefer the easy way and thus disagree with Thomas' philosophy
