Destiny Knight’s Castle was a virtual reality fantasy MMORPG set within the medieval world of Lancelot, where players could draw sword, set forth on an adventure and chase their destiny as a knight. It was highly acclaimed for its immersive graphics and grand scale, celebrated as the number one game of the year at its time of release. Its vibrant locations, eclectic character roster and adaptive skill tree had players returning daily to grind levels and explore Lancelot.

Despite their product's status as a pop-culture phenomenon, the game’s developers intentionally left no safeguards in place to prevent cyber attacks. It was as if they had announced an open invitation to hackers - a welcome to all. Out of place entities such as vehicles had begun appearing in the world of Lancelot. Had the developers anticipated these additions to their game? Strangely, the program itself embraced new code; assimilating and even replicating it. A digital city was erected where a dragon’s den had once pulled players on quests. Gradually the facade of Destiny Knights Castle was modded innumerable times, creating something entirely new.

Dead Kid Club is the futuristic wild west of the virtual age. A collaborative effort in programming to create a bastion of hacking. It's a place where childhood dies and young hackers enter a training ground to test their skills against their global peers. The goblins of the original game continue to roam Lancelot searching for knights, although now they’re joined by a myriad of genre spanning enemies.

When a player dies in Lancelot, their account is erased and their ID is banned from the servers. It’s common practice for criminals conducting business in Lancelot to use accounts connected to the identification documents of deceased children. News outlets termed the game, the Dead Kid Club due to the number of apparent ghosts actively playing - thus public perception of Destiny Knights Castle had plummeted with still no statement from the developers.

New players begin the game as medieval knights with the skill, ‘Slash’ and seven empty skill slots. The Skill Tree reacts to how players interact with the environment of Lancelot, granting them new skills based on what it observes; including modded content. For example, a player interested in shooting will develop skills associated with gunslinging such as, ‘Aim Assist’ or ‘Ricochet’. You can create any type of character you can imagine with unique skills unlike any other player in Lancelot.

As a hacker,

• You can alter your appearance.

• You can edit your skills.

• You can import items.

• You can manipulate the world itself.

Your proficiency with these tasks will depend on your level. Immediately as you enter the game, you'll have the ability to change your avatar to look however you like. You'll have already hacked the 'Slash' skill and arrived in Lancelot with something more suited to your play style. If you rely on an item, you'll have the know-how to import a small weapon or device into the world. In terms of effecting the environment, your level is too low.

With every post, you'll gain one level.

For every five posts you'll learn a new skill.

At increments of ten, your hacking proficiency improves.

A level 10 hacker will have improved skills, be able to import more complex objects and be able to create a doorway where there once wasn't or something on par with that. A level 100 hacker will have a full hot bar of advanced, modded skills, be able to import complex machinery or vehicles and be able to distort reality to a greater extent. For example, they could recreate real world buildings in cyber space.

Looks interesting, only thing I can see being a slight issue is that posting directly impacts your power level. It'd encourage me to split a longer post into 2 smaller ones

It's OK, don't take it too seriously. Most people will only post once anyway, hahaha.

@Vlad Tepes Aw great, maybe we could make the leveling system more complicated. I'll wait to see if there's anymore interest.

I have some tentative interest, though I feel like tying narrative power into something meta like post count might be a bit weird for the story.

I like the theme though, sounds like it could be a lot of fun to play.

@Crowvette I understand what you mean. I have a feeling it wont be a big deal since most people post once a week here, haha. I think just trust each other, it's really a way to encourage people to post more.
