Background: Elizabeth was born in a poor town in Germany during the early 20th century. During a young age, Elizabeth excelled in the arts. At a young age, she was skilled in drawing and painting exquisite works of art. Being called the Mozart of the art world. As she grew up she moved to Berlin to attend a well-known art school. During this time her artistic skills flourished and she also made connections with other artists. However, her studies were halted as the Nazi regime started growing. She was Jewish and was soon placed in a concentration camp. Being tortured and put through horrible work conditions. Surviving by working and making clothes for the Nazis.

Seeing death and suffering all around her, she was certain that she would be the next one to die. These thoughts ran through her head the entire time she was in the concentration camp. She did her best to help her fellow prisoners during this time. Drawing everything that was going on in the camp. Drawing starving prisoners, the camp, and the Nazis tormenting her. After a few years, the camp she was in was liberated and she joined a resistance group. Making propaganda for the group, as well as helping free other camps. After the war, she moved to France where she went back to painting and drawing. Becoming the protege of a well-known art dealer.

This art dealer unknown to Elizabeth was a Tzimisce vampire. She was turned into a ghoul and her painting was sold, and her name is known in the art world of Europe.Being manipulated by the dealer thinking he loved her. A few years later she was embraced by the art dealer. Not knowing that the art dealer was embellishing money from her. Finding this out from another artist friend. Obviously being furious by the betrayal she left France and moved to America.

Here she got a small apartment in New York and eventually met Edwina Adamson. The older vampire helped support Elizabeth while also teaching her the vampiric laws. Working as a tattoo artist and getting into the hardcore body modification scene.

Ian presents himself as a level-headed Kindred, who enjoys discussion and playing the devil's advocate if needed, challenging the view of people around him to 'ensure they truly believe what they believe'. He is also rather affable if approached for advice. Beneath the surface, however, Ian is still a Brujah, one who thrives on convincing people of his worldview and is angered when people are unable to properly defend or articulate what they profess, revealing a shallow understanding of their loudly proclaimed worldview. The louder people shout their beliefs with ignorance, the greater his anger is roused, and woe is to them who roused his anger far enough that his fists are raised. Though Ian is slow to anger and for him, succumbing to the beast is the most disastrous mistake a Kindred can make.

Rather than the punk rebels that are common to Brujah in the modern nights, Ian is a somewhat rare breed who embraces their past as a philosopher king. Though in his case, he sees himself as more of a 'philosopher kingmaker'.

Background
Born in 1875, amid the Second Industrial Revolution, Ian’s family was one of the people affected by the sweeping mechanization across the country. His father being a blue-collar labourer, the revolution drove his father to unemployment, and Ian’s family into poverty. With little option, Ian fell in bed with the local crime ring, doing odd jobs as his family’s breadwinner. Eventually, after beating up some people, he caught the eyes of the owner of an underground fighting ring, offering Ian a quick way to make money. Ian took the offer and trained in—then fairly new contact sport—boxing, before dominating the ring. Ian uplifted his family with money, investing in various local businesses, before enrolling in the Sage School of Philosophy at Cornell University.

He eventually graduated, and after pursuing further education, became tenured as a philosophy professor at his alma mater in 1905. During his lifetime, Ian Twain was known to his colleagues and students to be a somewhat controversial figure, backing various progressive movements at the time. As a professor, he made a reputation by mentoring several students who eventually became activists, philosophers, or even politicians.

One of Ian’s former students was Angelica Shields. Enrolling in 1907, Angelica was among Ian’s first students and one of the rare women pursuing education at the time, Angelica Shields was a charismatic bright young woman—an almost larger-than-life figure, as noted by her friends and professors. Seeing a bright future in Angelica, Ian had high hopes for his best student. After graduating, Angelica became a prominent activist of First Wave Feminism, before abruptly disappearing after a few years. Ian finally encountered his former student again in the 5th of September 1930. In a political rally protesting the American status quo of the Great Depression that had gone wrong, a dying Ian was turned into Kindred by his former student, Angelica Shields. It was later he found out that the riot broke out due to the secret machination of the local Anarch baron, attempting to discredit the politician behind the rally who was backed by the Camarilla.

For a while, Angelica Shields brought Ian into the Anarch movement as her childe. However, after a few years, Ian became disillusioned with the Anarch movement. He saw the movement as little else but short-sighted rabbles who rebelled for the sake of rebelling with no concrete goal in mind. A movement whose foolish idealism would threaten all of them and the masquerade, forcing a conflict between the mortals and Kindred. In a political rally with similar circumstances to the one in which he was embraced, Ian betrayed the Anarch Baron to his Camarilla rival, seeing it as nothing but a waste of resources with no clear goal that only serves to threaten the masquerade. Disappointed in her former teacher, Angelica and Ian parted ways on bad terms. At the time, with only three years as a Kindred and unwilling to join the Ivory Tower, Ian was fortunate to be found by Ludwig Strauss and Edwina Adamson.

In recent years, after being the secret founder of a startup called Speechcraft Oratoria, Ian spent his days managing the company from behind the scenes, with the current CEO as his ghoul. Speechcraft Oratoria is a consulting firm that offers services as ghostwriters for speeches and various other rhetorics. Though it had a slow start, as of today, various politicians, CEOs, and socialites count themselves as its client, with Ian secretly handling the high-profile clients.

Though parting with his sire and former student on bad terms, Ian still holds hope that Angelica would abandon the foolishness that is the Anarch movement. In the post-beckoning world of 2023, Ian sees great potential more than ever in the bright and charismatic 10th-generation Kindred that is Angelica. To Ian, Angelica represents the possibility of a new ‘3rd path’ for Kindred.

A “tweenage” youth of an ambiguous 12 or 13 years of age, Enzo has a mop of raven black hair and nondescript brown eyes. His original Italian complexion has paled slightly in undeath, though the alabaster quality of his resulting condition renders him an appearance some regard as “cute.” A small boy, standing about four-and-a-half feet tall (54 inches), Enzo has an overall impish appearance that is only heightened by his permanent fangs. Often mistaken for a child that is cosplaying, in recent nights he has dipped into the “Hot Topic Goth” trend to hide in plain sight when he must venture out around mortals.

Outwardly, Enzo appears as a happy, even cheerful boy. In truth, he’s a frightened child who knows well just what might be peering back from the Shroud. A love of music has become an enduring vice and personal luxury that has helped him to cope through the Long Night. Those who have heard him sing have been known to remark that he would have made a better Toreador, had he any other last name. A ghoul from a young age, he was brought up in Kindred society as a servant beholden to a strict patriarchal hierarchy that would make a Ventrue sweat, making him adept at reading the room to know when to be entertaining, or seen and not heard, or neither seen nor heard. In truth, he much prefers the latter, being better with ghosts and numbers than he is with either the living or the undead.

Background
Enzo was doomed to the Curse of Caine by the accident of his birth. Born into the incestuous family of necromancers, as a child he demonstrated a natural talent for mathematics and was ghouled at a young age to help with the family finances – just one of many ghouls serving as clerks servicing the family’s many legitimate and illegitimate transactions. From the view of the traditionalists within the Family, this wasn’t seen as either cruel or capricious, but followed the old practice of a child becoming apprenticed to the trade that he would be expected to follow into as a career for the remainder of his life. Except, in the case of Enzo, that fate was an eternity of child labor as a bookkeeper.

It was a task he attended to for over a half century. Then, forty years ago, the Sabbat-Camarilla conflict around Milan had proven too tempting for several up-and-coming middle management Giovanni, who sold information, blood, and weapons to both sides. Externally, the sectarian response was to attack the Giovanni as if they had taken sides, while internally the elders of Clan Giovanni eliminated two of the ring leaders and sent their heads each to the Sabbat and Camarilla in order to reassert their neutrality and independence from the conflict.

The vacancies within the Embraced middle management of the family business necessitated the accelerated promotion of ghouls that could take over their boss’ portfolios. Seen as both competent and loyal, Enzo was “promoted” with the Embrace during one of the Giovanni’s Fourth of April ceremonies, and then transferred from overseeing currency exchanges to more oversight over the Family’s distribution of funds across currency markets, eventually moving up to managing a portfolio of the Family’s investments. It was a position he managed for more than two decades, before he made the “mistake” of catching an accounting error that led to the revelation that one of the elder Giovanni nonni was stealing from the family. Before the evidence could be brought before the Anziani, the books were altered to make it appear as though Enzo had been siphoning off the accounts.

The nonno might have had more friends in higher places, but Enzo was fortunate to have had enough allies of his own that he was able to disappear before he could be brought to Venice. Some speculated that the nonni had been involved in order to silence the only witness, which created enough disbelief in Enzo’s continued existence that his “early retirement” from the Family has caused less controversy than is typical for these (all too common) situations. Enzo left the European continent, arriving in America where the Giovanni’s influence was largely that of the Milliner family, who were often left in the dark as to the internal politics of the Clan’s “pure blood.”

As there are no Giovanni antitribu, Enzo didn’t see that he had any prospects for finding shelter with either the Anarchs or the Camarilla. However, neither of them were looking for him, whereas his family was. At the start of his “coming to America” journey, he moved around as often as he could manage. With his knowledge of accounting, he managed to eek by doing contract work mostly for Anarchs, primarily Caitiff, Brujah, Toreador, and even the occasional Ventrue who needed some off-shore accounts tied up away from the eyes of his own Clan. Eventually, he found his way to New York and fell into work Ludwig Strauss and Edwina Adamson, settling into their coterie as a surrogate family for the one that he’d lost.

Of course, to those who know the real Enzo, finding someone to care for him was always the excuse to stop running that he’d been searching for.

In terms of the Giovanni family's internal blood politics, while a member of the main family, Enzo is considered a "half-blood." That is, his father is a descendant of Augustus Giovanni, but his mother hails from the Rosalini family. He was ghouled by his second great aunt, who became his sire.

Appearance: Harvey's facial features are distinctly Eastern European with some high cheekbones and deep eyes but most would hardly be looking at Harvey's facial features when first meeting him. His outfits are a blast, harkening back to when leather pants were all the rage and big hair wasn't just an eyesore. Standing at a modest 5'9" at 160 lbs, Harvey's hardly an adonis but he's managed eek out his own timeless (to him) style. His wardrobe usually consists of darker colours, playing into the his MO that's heavily inspired by KISS (his band's sets are predominantly made up of KISS covers), with the only real main-stay is his aviator sunglasses and black headband that he wears at most times.

Personality: Steele is lazy but on the surface he doesn't really seem to do much. Spending most of his time soaking in the admiration of those that like him and blowing off those that don't is a typical night for Steele. He's very decisive amongst the local music scene and he wouldn't have it any other way. He's hardly a shut book, spouting off just about anything that comes to mind in a smug but cheerful manner. While he likes to pretend he's hot-stuff, in recent years he's been getting more worried about his dwindling humanity. His close proximity to humans every night acts as a mirror to show Steele just how cold he's gotten in comparison. While he wouldn't admit it outright, Steele still wishes he could dump the vamparism but that's one tune he'll need to forget.

Background: Born sometime during the second Word War in America to a loving mother and father who wasn't his mother's husband, Harvey Kowalski had a rough but not impossible lot in life. The shame his mother endured after her subsequent marriage to her affair partner after her husband never came home trickled down to the Harvey who had no idea what he did to deserve people's ire. He had some trouble making friends and when meeting new people he would down play or lie about his home life or the specifics of him coming to be. Like the ugly duckling, Harvey would grow to be a handsome and silver tongued young man with a blossoming skill for the guitar. Taking some inspiration from the Monkees with his guitar work catapulted Harvey into the land of Rock and Roll and into the loving grasp of his first band.

The band became pretty locally famous when the lot of them moved to down to LA in the hopes of making it big, however it wasn't just mortal eyes focused on the group. One night after a relatively big show, Harvey was approached by a woman introducing herself as Sarah. Usually being the one to lay on the charm, Harvey was pleasantly surprised to be the one serenaded by smooth words and sweet nothings. These eventually lead to the duo breaking away from the crowd and heading off into the night. The night is a blur to Harvey but he remembers the sting in his neck, his life and blood leaving his body and something else returning.

In the years following his Embrace, Harvey would try to track down a cure for his affliction but his undead heart was drawn back into the world of music as the age of glam-rock and hair-metal came to be. The style spoke to him and music was violent enough to reflect his feelings on his life as he knew it but soft in spots that reminded him of who he once was. He didn't mean to get into the music industry again but going under the moniker of Steele, Harvey began playing for various random bands on electric guitar before his touring brought him back to New York where he finally settled in with Mrs.Adamson and Mr.Strauss' family.

Raph stands just shy of 6 feet tall, at about 165lbs. He has a narrow face with inquisitive hazel eyes, prominent bone structure, long and wide ears, a slightly hooked nose and a wide, protruding chin. His black hair has subtle curls streaked with grey, but he prefers to have them slicked back with hair gel. He has a two day-old stubble for facial hair. His body is slender and athletic, almost as much as it was during his professional cycling days.

Personality:
Raph is mostly an easygoing, diplomatic character, content (for the moment) to be a part of the society of the Damned while having a job and a lifestyle that are all too human (apart from his pet being a ghoul). He thrives in social situations and is often regarded by others as amenable and friendly despite his naturally cold, serious expression; nevertheless, he is most at home on the seat of a bike, alone and pushing himself well beyond the limitations of his former, mortal self. He often keeps a very small number of genuine strong connections, most notably the one he has for his Anatolian Shepard. In the face of conflict, Raph is often seen as a conciliatory voice who prefers to “talk it out” and reach a compromise that benefits both parties, or that at least buys him enough time to come up with a new course of action. Raph becomes a LOT more intense whenever the topic is athletics – particularly cycling – or whenever a given situation might turn into a challenge.

As a Ravnos with a past of doping in sports, Raph loves to cheat in order to get an edge on the competition – whether it’s playing poker, doing push-ups or running for Governor – and although most times he can smooth it over with excuses like “you know me” and “it’s all in good fun,” Raph’s tricks can exhaust the patience of those around him and ultimately generate needless strife and distrust.

Background:
Raphaël Auguste Cassagne, known in modern nights as “Raph” (like the TMNT character), was born in 1949, in the city of Besançon, eastern France. Growing up in a humble family, Raph had no interest in studies or his father’s shoemaking business, instead pursuing a career in cycling. His professional debut came in 1968 for a local team in the regional circuits – the level of competition where he would remain for most of the following fourteen years.

In this time he started a family with Melanie Ritter, the cousin of a teammate; they had three children: Jean-Luc (1973), Mathilde (1975) and Aurora (1980). Although he was often away for long periods of time during the cycling season, Raph loved his wife and kids, and only his love for them could rival his love for cycling.

Raph retired in 1982, after a long yet unremarkable career. However, Raph shone bright when he stepped in as team director for the 1983 season. Introducing practices he learned in his short spell at elite cycling – including altitude training, a strict diet and blood transfusions – Raph turned a small local team into a regional powerhouse.

And then, of course, everything went sideways. Because that’s what happens when you cheat vampires get involved.

Long story short: a Setite ghouled Raph to be his gateway for a distribution monopoly of PED’s in French cycling. Two weeks later, a Ravnos that felt he had been wronged by the Setite embraced Raph as payback. This Deceiver only told Raph the basics to survive before vanishing that same night.

The 1980s and ‘90s were rough times for Raph, who spent most of these years as a drifter in southern France, sleeping and feeding where he could. After exhausting the patience and goodwill of a dozen princes in the French Riviera, Raph left for the United States in 1998. After a couple more years of urban nomadism, Raph ended up in NYC under the care of Ludwig and Edwina’s “family.” Though at first suspicious of their kindness, Raph was grateful for their help and tried his best to fit in with the others.

Raph spent all of the 2000s with his new “family,” coming to see them as real brothers and sisters. This, however, created a burden of guilt and resentment that grew heavier as time passed. After all, the French Ravnos already had a family – a mortal one, which he had to abandon and hide from, though he longed to see them again. It eventually became too much for Raph to bear, and he left the house in 2013. He has since been living a modest life in a small, cozy apartment in Bath Beach, Brooklyn.

Notes:
Flaw – Enemy: The mysterious French Setite who once made Raphaël his ghoul did not take kindly to having his plan foiled. Even though Raph was not to blame, he was a target of the Setite’s wrath for years. It’s true that time and distance have rendered the Setite both powerless and disinterested in his pursuit of revenge, but the Followers of Set can be a tightly-knit bunch, and Raph is wary of crossing paths with one of the Serpents.

Retainer: Djobi, a massive Anatolian Shepherd dog, made even larger and stronger by the blood bond - standing almost as tall as a Great Dane and built like an English Mastiff. Apart from her uncommon size, Djobi has a very characteristic fawn coat and the breed's trademark black mask at the muzzle. Doting, loyal and extremely protective, Djobi has accompanied Raph in his night-to-night life since he's arrived in the US and she rarely leaves his side. However, Djobi's strong affection for her owner and regnant does not extend to his friends, and like most other animals, Djobi feels uncomfortable with the mere presence of other vampires, although she has warmed up slightly to the other members of the "family."
