“Why did you do it?” a figure asked, standing in the middle of a dark void.

“Because just controlling what already existed in that world wasn’t enough for me; I needed to rebuild the place myself, wiping out what was already there.” A second figure answered nonchalantly, floating in the air absentmindedly above the first as a violet aura emanated from him. “Though I admit I may have overdone it a touch…” he glanced at the void.

“You killed them.” The first growled. “Hundreds – who knows, maybe even thousands of innocent characters. All the worlds they inhabited. Not to mention those roleplayers- !!”

“Ah, roleplayers, what a persistent bunch they all are!” the second interrupted. “I swear, pieces of this place are already starting to reform.”

“Change it back.” The first demanded.

“Caaaaan’t~” the second mused. “The damage is already done. Besides, don’t you remember what I said? It’s been like… at least three or four weeks in the ‘real world’. Took out more than I expected to...” he trailed off. “But oh well, good to know that some players still returned. I still need a member base, after all~!” he chimed. “They’ll be way more fun to play around with on my site. Way better than the players you found.”

The first’s eyes widened as the meaning behind those words sunk in. “You… you sick bastard…” he seethed.

“Ohh, planning on stopping me?” the second hummed, amused. “Weeell you have fun figuring that one out. Meanwhile, I’ve got a site to build!” He vanished.

“Oh I will, Godmodder.” The first threatened. “I will…”
(I apologize for the large walls of text. Hiders aren't working for some reason.)

Background:

This RP primarily takes place in a realm that formed as a result of the roleplays on Roleplayer Guild. During the course of its seven years, the realm expanded into a massive world where RP settings lied next to each other in an extensive, conglomerate landscape. Characters existed there, too – playing out their stories in their own pieces of the world, but with somewhat of a consciousness of their own. The world was fueled by the minds of the roleplayers – ever unaware of the existence of the realm – as living roleplays secured for themselves a place in that land, expanding as the roleplayers added to it, but dead roleplays soon faded from existence as roleplayers no longer regularly thought of them. Roleplays could only continue to exist so long as the players kept it in their minds. But, new roleplays would always be made to replace them. Thus, the system never fell out of balance.

Overall, the Guild remained peaceful for years as the conflicts of roleplays stayed within their boundaries, but not long ago, things changed. The trouble began when characters started to be controlled by an unnatural force – they weren’t silently guided by their owners, but rather forcefully moved where they shouldn’t have been by a creature no one could identify. They called him the Godmodder. Not long after, roleplayers themselves started to get sucked into the roleplay world – clicking a suspicious link in their inboxes that wound up transporting them body and mind into the realm. A mysterious character named Muse showed himself to help them survive in the roleplay world, but he didn’t have much time to spend with them before the Godmodder chose to tear apart their reality. The event seemed to happen all in a few seconds inside the Guild, but on the outside, the hiatus he triggered stretched on for week after week as roleplayers were forced to abandon their RP’s and, for some, even the entire website – the inactivity strangling nearly every roleplay on the site. And as potentially hundreds of worlds crumbled all at once, the realm became unstable, left with voids of nothingness in-between RP worlds as the previously maintained balance was destroyed all at once.

But it’s not over. As the Guild slowly rebuilds, the Godmodder still gathers new “players” to the realm, sucking in more and more roleplayers. And while the shapeshifting Muse may be able to help them through some of the challenges of living in the old Guild, a whole new mess of challenges are in store for them as the Godmodder expands his control…
You:

You are a loyal member of Roleplayer Guild. Despite whatever response you had to the loss of the original RPGuild, you still returned to the new site, ready to roleplay again. The site is obviously still under construction, and Mahz has only just added a PM feature – upon that addition to the site, you find a suspicious PM in your new inbox, offering you a “whole new roleplaying experience”. The message appears to be from an adbot, but upon loading the page, you cannot close out of it. Your other browser tabs will still function, but you cannot leave the PM in any way. Eventually, you choose to click the link…

And you wake up in a broken world.

Welcome Back to the Guild.

GM’s Note: Yes, this is a sort-of sequel to Welcome to the Guild, a roleplay that was running when the Guild crashed. It has been redesigned, however, to still accommodate for new members, so all are welcome to join. (The original WttG was short-lived besides, so you didn’t miss much.) If you were a member of the original Welcome to the Guild, though, PM me and I’ll help you pick up where your character left off. No reason for you to start from scratch.
CS:

Note that while parts of this introduction may imply that you’re playing as yourself, that is optional. Your CS can either reflect you as you see yourself or a roleplayer character that you designed; the choice is entirely yours.

Rules:

-Try to include something in each post that gives other characters something to react to. Don’t write a post that consists only of your character’s reactions to everything else. Saying or doing SOMETHING is a must. I value functionality of posts over their length or wordiness.
-There is no official turn order. That said, don’t wait for more people than you need to in order to post. Only wait for people whose characters you were interacting with, and not people that have nothing to do with you.
-Please TELL ME IF YOU ARE LOSING INTEREST. Contact me right away if you start to think about dropping the RP. Don’t be shy – I’ll understand. I’d much rather you contact me as soon as you think you might leave so that your characters can be neatly written off, rather than shyly putting off posting and causing problems for everyone. The sooner you contact me about a drop-out, the better.
-Alternatively, if you feel lost in the RP but still have some level of interest, STILL CONTACT ME! I can help put you back where the action is and get you back into the groove of the RP.
-Also, contact me with any doubts or questions you have. I really don’t mind questions.
-And of course, GM’s word is law. Bear in mind though that means the GM’s word can override any one of these rules if I feel it should. If I contact you saying I want you to post (or perhaps even to not post and wait for someone) then do so, regardless of whatever rule you were trying to follow before. These rules are well-thought-out formulas for an RP’s success that almost always work, but there are always exceptions to each rule, and some situations where I may tell you to ignore one. Just remember that.

Failure to follow these rules can lead to stagnation and/or death of the RP, as they have in the past, so please, for my sake and for the sake of your fellow RPers, make sure you understand them.

Okay, in that case, I have a question. Namely: Can I reserve a Character slot?

Well there isn't a CS thread this time around for lack of subscriptions, and I don't intend on capping the character number any time soon so... kind of? Just submit a character when you're ready. :)

Can we subscribe to the thread now? Or do I have to remember the thread number? I'd try to remember as much as possible from my old CS.

Well subscriptions aren't working on the site yet but you could always bookmark the page, or just keep it perpetually open in another tab like I've been doing with my RP's lately.

Basically what genres, levels, styles etc that your character prefers. Sort of an oddball field, I know, but I figured it could say some things about a person.

Also, all day I've been wearing a bunny hat in the exact same shade of gray as your avatar. o.o

Well I'm very much interested. Glad the guild is back up. I've had a Roleplay itch for a while now. Will have a Character up soon. Would it be all right to use my Username as my Characters name?

Yes, that's fine, too. Forgot to mention that. You can use whatever name you want your character to go by; whatever they'd introduce themselves as.

Another question: What kind of pictures are we supposed to use, or should we use descriptions?

I really don't mind either way. Any kind of pictures, or textual descriptions - anything will do.

Meh, sorry for the short app. If you want, I could write his personality/backstory tomorrow, I'm feeling lazy at the moment.

Yeah, sorry but I'd really prefer that the CS be fleshed out considerably more, so the personality/history field is kind of a must. Otherwise the CS is kind of bare-bones and tells us almost nothing. :/

I would very much like to reserve a spot for this RP. I will have a character sheet up in a bit. If not, when I wake up.

As a player of the first sequel, do I have to resubmit my character sheet (to the best of my memory) so that the newer players can read them, or don't I?

Euclid The Portmanteau Professional

Member Seen 7 yrs ago

Name: Euclid

Age: 24

History: Euclid is a newcomer to the Roleplayer Guild, having been a member for only a few months before the fall and eventual resurrection of the Guild. An eager mind, he had what he considered to be innovative ideas that he hoped to draw people in with, but they ultimately fell short of coming to fruition and he had only himself to blame. When he finally had an idea that ventured into much less chartered territory, one he thought would succeed, it was already too late. By the time he had the idea ready to post, the Guild was gone, and so he was left without an outlet. Eventually, it vanished.

It wasn't long before he was ready to forget about the Guild forever, but a flight of curiosity led him to see if the site was back up, so he typed in the URL and pressed the enter key. 'Lo and behold, the site was back, and he was both ruined and pleased. The site looked different from its predecessor, but it still retained some sort of nostalgic air to it, and it made him happy. Over the next few days, he sat back and lurked through the threads, reading about the new changes and the reason the Guild fell in the first place. Soon enough, the administrator was making good on his promises, and the PM system popped up for testing. When it succeeded, it became a permanent fixture on the site in the form of a small black envelope.

Euclid noticed that there was already a message for him to read. Normally, he theorized that it was a general, to-everyone-in-the-forum message the administrator might send out to show that the PM system was working. Visiting the PM screen, he saw that the subject of the message was left almost blank, replaced by some archaic symbol that he had no knowledge of. The sender of the message couldn't be found. Thinking it was some type of virus, he attempted to leave the page, but found himself failing to do so, no matter how hard he tried. When he came to the conclusion that there was nothing else to do, he resolved himself to clicking the link.

And then things went dark.

Personality: Euclid, when he's not writing, is a quiet individual. Keeping to himself, he finds solace in the music he's listening to, as conversations can literally exhaust him. His introversion is personified in his hesitation to work with others outside of the forum, preferring to rely only on his own wits (or lack thereof) to get things done.

On the forum, he is coincidentally the opposite, but to a certain degree of extroversion. He likes to conversate with people, though his eccentric way of communicating can sometimes be ill-received and downright annoying. However, he's learned to tone back his outgoing internet personality, resorting to short responses and a semblance of normalcy that is accepted by Guild members. Though he is largely unrecognized in the Guild's population, his online personality is something people can find themselves getting along with, if given the time.

Roleplaying Preferences: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Realism, Psychological, Adventure, Paranormal, Post-Apocalyptic, Superhuman, Dystopia

Other: As of late, Euclid has expressed a rising interest in bagels and their spreadable counterpart, cream cheese. Beyond that, there's nothing else that is interesting.

NOTE: I hope you don't mind that I separated the history and personality. I didn't want the two getting muddled. Also, I hope this is enough. If not, just let me know.

Well if you're not playing as yourself then you're creating a character, yes, but that would still be a roleplayer character. You're all going to be roleplayers.
