Jenks, the goblin, had suggested a race. She was definitely, 100%, NOT going to be doing that. "If you intend to run off at least wait until you are sure where we are going." She wasn't going to stop them though. Let them have their fun.

It was Haibram that suggested the race, not Jenk.

Hey all!

Update this Friday morning:

We're swapping out Tylo the Lowly for Thornharp Whistlewind!

We'll retcon that this Leshy Bard has been with the group since the beginning instead of the tall human, Tylo. I've also updated the first post in the OOC to reflect our current waitlist and the characters tab to include Thornharp!

Please feel free to introduce yourself and your character @apheline!

I couldn't manage to make one that reflected how I imagine Vasimiri's human form, so spider it is! Plus, I figure it'll be more distinct on the combat map lol

Also, welcome @apheline! Love to see the Leshy rep :)

@meri Awesome! I can come up with a stand-in human form pawn for when Vasimiri is not in spider form.

Also, just to let everyone know, I've relaxed the rule:

1. Touch the "IC" board at least twice a week.

To:

1. Touch the "IC" board at least once a week.

Twice seems a little too much, but once a week seems logical, given there will be at least three Storyteller posts for characters to respond to.

Of course, if you're going to be out of town or traveling or can't post up for some reason, please let me know that way I know you're not MIA. If you let me know ahead of time when you have an absence coming up for a week, I think we can hold your spot for at least another week before swapping in someone off the waiting list.

Hi all!

Thornharp Whistlewind is a wandering bard with a knack for storytelling and song. Growing up in a bustling household as one of many children, she often found herself overlooked, which led her to seek solace in the woods surrounding her small hometown. There, she spent countless hours exploring and honing her skills on the harp, creating melodies that echoed through the rustling leaves and flowing streams.

Driven by a yearning for something more, Thornharp left her quiet town behind, setting her sights on bard college. However, the structured life of academia didn’t suit her free spirit, and she soon dropped out, choosing instead to join a band of traveling minstrels. With them, she learned the art of performance, picking up stories, songs, and skills from the road. Once she felt ready, Thornharp decided it was time to carve her own path and set out to find the adventure she had always dreamed of.

@apheline Welcome! Feel free to post up. The group is deciding whether or not to chase Haibram in order to get to their destination the fastest way! (If they beat him there are rewards, but they don't know that!).

Question: how do I roll a die here in the Dice section? I may be stupid. 😅

Welcome to Digizel the Bui's RPG Dice Tutorial™

So first you need to go to RPG's Dice Section here and create your own Campaign; you actually can't roll in a "campaign" created by someone else. So make a new one and call it whatever you like as long as you make it clear that it's for this game.

Once you do, it'll show you your stuff above the other public channels so you never lose it. Like this:

And then in your own campaign, you can roll whatever dice you want to as you would in any other dice roller ("1d20+3" for instance), and you can describe what it's for in the other box for clarity if you want.

Then it'll roll those dice for you, and add that roll to the top of the list. You can see the results of your roll right there on the table if that's all you care about. The leftmost column will be the direct link to your roll results. You can click on it to see more in-depth results (like what each die landed on, important if you're looking specifically for a higher or lower result and taking that one). If you copy that link, you can paste it into chat here so that we can all see the result.

It's easiest if you embed that link into a URL tag and just have it show us the number like this:

12. Clicking that link, you can see I rolled a 3, 1, 3, and 5. So if I were using these to generate a character, this stat would be 11 since I remove the lowest result of 1. But if I were just rolling, like...4d6 damage, then I wouldn't need to know more than the ultimate result.

It's the part labeled "1d6+4" that has me confused. I understand that 1d6 means "1 six sided die", but what's the +4 in that?

The +4 or +3 would be any given modifier. Like if my weapon does 1d6 damage PLUS damage equal to my Strength Modifier, and my Str Mod was "+4" then I would write "1d6+4". The dice roller just adds that number onto the end automatically and gives it to you in the result.

Or if I wanted to make a skill check, I would put in "1d20+[skill check modifier]" like if I wanted to roll Stealth, and my Stealth skill is at +7, I would write "1d20+7"

If I wanted to roll at advantage, I would roll "2d20+7" but could not rely on the total result; because that will just add both d20's together. You have to look at the results page and figure out which result is the higher number and then add the +7 manually.

EDIT: Although I suppose in that last example, if you were rolling at advantage, there's no reason to include the modifier at all since you'll have to add them manually in the end anyway xD

EDIT 2 Extra Example: Looking at your character sheet, let's say Alwin wants to attack a target with his Clan Dagger. You need to roll to hit first, so you would roll "1d20+5" since your weapon's "to hit" modifier is +5.

Then if the GM tells you that that roll hits, you roll the weapon's damage. In this case, the Clan Dagger's damage roll is "1d4+2" so that's what you would roll. And the damage type is labeled as piercing or can be bludgeoning. For this level 1 adventure, damage type probably isn't all that important, but if you play higher levels, that will probably be progressively more important to keep in mind as enemies might resist or be vulnerable to certain damage types.

Just so everyone is aligned, players have until this evening PDT (the last post was on Friday evening PDT) to post up and roll for athletics!

So far we have:
Jenk rolled 14 for diplomacy. If Jenk wants to make it there on time, he's going to have to come up with something to persuade the taxi to get there faster! Once you choose something, I'll have you roll that several times, if it makes sense, to get you there on time, or early if you surprise me.

Fleur rolled 16 for diplomacy. For this check, if you want to be on time, I'm going to require you to continue to roll diplomacy (as if Fleur was asking several people for directions down the line) for the rest of this scene in order to ascertain whether or not you're going to make it to Alandri's on time!

Thornharp rolled a 10 in athletics (poor little flower).

Yet to roll:
Vasimiri @meri
Alwin @cleveraptor
