And by YONDER WEEKEND I mean TOMORROW. Huzzah! Every obligation under the sun struck and I squared away all my other hobby tasks besides this particular thread, so this is top priority going into Monday.

Apologies. My workplace and mental state can be described as ‘contemplating becoming a serial killer as a means of achieving catharsis’. Comedy aside, not a good week for my brain due to work tomfoolery. This is on my mind just haven’t had a chance to put fingers to work. Not ghosting y’all just tired lol.

What Rush said. I kind of assumed something like that was going on, so it's cool. Don't stress yourself out too much, and get some rest.

Here are some interactions between my characters, courtesy of the Incorrect Quote Generator.

Sigismund: We need a way to lure in new customers.
Fedya: Maybe we could have some fun, interactive events!
Bartholomew: Serafina bath water.
Serafina: ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Serafina: What are the hardest things to say?
Sigismund: I was wrong.
Fedya: I need help.
Bartholomew: Worcestershire sauce.

Sigismund, setting down a card: Ace of spades.
Serafina, pulling out an Uno card: +4.
Bartholomew, pulling out a Pokémon card: Jolteon, I choose you!
Fedya, trembling: What are we playing?!

D'Arcy having a moment of nerves: This day couldn't possibly get any worse.

@rush99999 I believe this one is simple enough a task that a Society+Eloquence test would be all that is necessary. He is willing to offer a reward for successful assistance as is, but a Critical success will get you a notable mechanical reward rather than a narrative handwavium reward.

Least, near as I’ve double checked, that’d be the more correct way to handle this. D’arcy has limited access to funds and has a pretty cut and dry scenario; a more intense scenario or risk would be necessary to delve into the proper ‘Duel’ rules.

This is of course merely a suggestion for polite conversing or haggling. As always you could reframe it more physically or cunningly to try and use other Fields. Just the difficulty of certain things may be easier or harder etc. Trying to physically intimidate him for example would be quite hard, he’s a lieutenant in basically his base with his soldiers, etc. just establishing a vibe with these explanations.

What would you suggest for impolite haggling? Currently, Bartholomew is trying to leverage the fact that there is an angry mob at D'Arcy's door and that Bartholomew is the only one willing to supply the Lieutenant's demand for help to drive up the payout he'll get from this job.

I’ll give +2 die for leveraging advantageous circumstances :)

1 for the typical ‘help’ advantage of a situation or tool, and an additional 1 because that specifically pressures D’arcy and I’m feeling benevolent.

I rolled two basic successes. I then attempted to re-roll for a critical, but lost one of the basic successes instead.

The system encourages a 'failing forward' mentality, and I think it'd be fitting for a failed negotiation to result in this offer;

D'arcy will sign a negotiated contract for the upcharge deal, if Bartholomew gives his word to assist D'arcy to the best of his ability. These are, of course, the relevant binding contracts of their respective Little-types.

I don't mind handling the specific negitation-haggle speak OOC like this in this situation one bit lmao.

Bartholomew would deem those terms acceptable. But before giving his word to do anything, he would insist on reading the contract that D'Arcy signs to ensure that the Lieutenant hasn't snuck any changes to the deal into the fine print. He will be very thorough in his reading. Very thorough. It will be quite the time consuming process.

Of course, if Lieutenant D'Arcy was to offer a little something extra up front as a show of good faith, that would assuage enough of Bartholomew's doubts to move things along.

That boop haunts my memories. There was a point in time when my wife and I played Overwatch fervently. I'm talking, maxed out battlepasses free-to-play levels of daily play. Heck we got started when it was still Overwatch 1, but late in its lifespan. So 'Boop' and 'And Dey Say' echo in my mind.
