Hello! I'm Goggy, a writer who has struggled with running games in the past before and will always continue doing so. But I wanted to get back into the swing of things by attempting to write a Pokémon RP, as I have always wanted to make them work. Unfortunately, throughout the years I have developed two specific settings that I want to do, and since I love both of them, I cannot reasonably choose between them. Thus, I come here with an interest check to decide on which setting folks would be interested in.
The first is set in the ancient region of Teohu, ruled by the Tetsuo Shogunate after the "War of Order". Inspired by Pokémon Conquest and Legends: Arceus, the PCs would likely begin as a small group of warriors, either 'bandits' or simply low renown samurai. Pokeballs are not an established invention yet, so teams would be limited, but this would also focus on the exploration of an ancient land, as well as dealing with the potential of another war on the horizon as tensions between warlords grows. There are some villainous elements also at play in the background, but they will not make themselves known immediately, though facing criminals who want to take advantage of the turmoil is expected.
The other concept is set in the region of Ossaya, based on Australia and is far more modern. Ossaya is a newly established region, just getting its start as a largely populated area, and is largely known as a "land of opportunity". PCs would be individuals from the region itself or from somewhere else, selected by the Pokémon League to undergo the Gym Challenge that had been set up in the region to see if Ossaya is up to standards. This would be a far more traditional story that takes more cues from the Manga and Anime than the games, and characters would be able to either go for the gym challenge or explore other avenues to see how the region functions. You would also have to deal with the existence of an evil team based off of cowboys, who feature an abnormally intelligent Tinkaton as one of their leaders.
I'm fully willing to go with either of these options since I love both of them, but I wanted to know what folks actually would be interested in. Thus, I come here. If you're interested, let me know!
