Hmm, I WAS gonna be a werewolf, but then I realized that I can't use my own personal brand of werewolves... sooo... hmm. Question for the GM then, can I be a skinwalker? Basically they are humans, kind of, that can transform into animals. Not quite as badass as a werewolf, but not quite as... umm... murdery when they transform. Also, if I were allowed to be a skinwalker, would I still be allowed to use magic? Or is that a human thing only/would that be too much? If I were to use magic, I'd keep it limited, more for simple utility than anything else.

I've asked the GM about something similar. As a sort of "temporal response", I'll give you her answer:

hmmmm. The idea of the RP is that magical people want to keep magical stuff quiet so a talking tiger would be very strange but not impossible maybe a better animal that shows less suspicion (dog cat etc) animal traits are fine infact a race of humans gifted with animal traits seems like a good idea. (Human with wings) Humans turning into animals can be adept magic as well. simply tell me which one you like and than PM me you cs when its done.

Of course it's up to the GM whether she's still ok with it, and this response doesn't give an answer to your last question, whether you'd still be allowed to use any other form of magic. I was about to ask that question as well, actually. :3

Okay lets answer some of these posts.

@ KillamriX88 Skinwalker can be an adept ability of being able to turn into animals. i've already discussed this with another person and said it was okay. so yes an adept could have the ability to change their form.

@ TheBeggar Your going to need to go over your cs sheet again. everyone except sorcerers (cannot be one) are limited to one magic type. also adepts can only learn one maybe two powers if they are weak. adepts cannot learn any of the other types of magic though as they can do other things that i described in the magic list. please make the changes to your cs.

Name: Vanya

Age: 122 (looks 28-30)

Gender: Female

Race: Half-elf

Magic: Druidic Charm (can call upon dire animals to fight alongside her as companions)

Equipment: Longbow, runic quiver, poison-tipped arrows, smoke bombs, various traps, an armor-clad cloak with a wolf sigil adorning the metalwork, throwing knives, spike traps

Personality: A polite woman with just intentions, Vanya is a strong warrior who often feels most alive in the thick of a battle for a noble cause. She isn't one to part with many words and can often be short and to the point; however, isn't that how most warriors go about living? A solitary creature, the woman looks to animals for companionship and shies away from human-like warmth. While she may fight for the fleshy race that is human, she feels no attachment towards them. Many would say that her skill in speech leaves much to be desired--why should she be adept in the way of words when she has need for none? Vehlenya, her favored dire wolf, is all she needs for comfort. He is powerful, trustworthy -- and, most importantly -- does not contain the flaw that is humanity. You see, most people are greedy, selfish creatures. Animals have no such attachment to such egocentric thinking.

History: Born of human and elf, Vanya grew up in a world of confusion and without a sense of identity. Her human mother often tried to disguise her elvish descent while her father tried to teach her the ways of her birthright. Clashing ideals made for a troubled childhood, and so it was inevitable that her parents should split. She had been given a choice: Humans or Elves? Fire or ice? Humans were warm, altruistic creatures whom often loved others unconditionally...however, there were also many feverish, heartless humans whose blood boiled for wealth, glory, and bloodshed. A race of many wants, but not many needs--and then there was ice. The elves. A race of discipline, masters of passing glances but never conversation. Elves looked to skilled trades rather than lining their pockets or seeking trivial matters of love. Vanya had chosen ice. And so her human mother slipped away, torn by her only child's permanent choice. Intensive training commenced that day--a regimen of steel, wood, and sweat. After many years of honing her skills, Vanya had chosen to seek out her human mother and succeeded in finding her -- in the ground. She had learned that she had suffered a horrible, horrible fate that none deserved. The human side of her mourned for her mother and vowed for vengeance, the elvish side sought to bring peace to the wretched world through poison-tipped arrows.

Sorry, this is rather wordy. I try to make my character sheets sound much like a story. I hope this is acceptable.

wow, thanks for asking me before creating a new race, really like that heads up. If you first give me a description of the race and any special attributes about elves that would be good. i did say on the front page to contact me either via PMs or OOC if you want a new type of magic or a new race. also druids control nature so plants not animals.

Nyte,

1) Apologies, I did not read that in the post. I skimmed right through it.
2) If you want people to join your RP, you don't need to be rude about it if someone makes a simple mistake. I sense your sarcasm and hostility in your reply and I do not take kindly to it. If that is how you treat people who take interest in your ideas, then I'd rather go elsewhere.
3) Druids are a fictitious race that many have adapted for their own needs/wants, much like demons and other races. I have both seen them control plants as well as animals.

Well, I'll be going then. I wish you luck for your search for people on your thread. Good bye.

For someone who has a problem with rudeness, you're sure not setting an example. You took this to the extreme, way too fast.

I don't like it when people skim through things i have written so my hostility was because you couldn't be bothered to read through what i had wrote. as for druids what i wrote is what they can do. period

(Well, I'm gonna make me a skin-walker, and you can tell me if I've gone too far or not. The whole "adept" thing isn't quite what I had in mind, but I'll try to work with it.)

Name: Kaden "Kai" Greer
(Kai is his Navajo name)
Age: 26

Gender: Male

Race: Human (technically)

Magic: Adept
Skin-walker: A skin-walker is a sort of witch, who uses dark magic, charms, rituals and can transform into animals. It also makes him a bit harder to kill than a normal human. For a normal wound to be fatal, silver or white ash is necessary, but otherwise a shot to the heart or decapitation will suffice.

Transformation: By performing a short ritual while wearing the pelt of an animal, he permanently gains the ability to shift into it, even without the pelt. He currently can transform into a crow, a cat, a dog, and a wolf.

Consciousness shift: Part of the skin-walker legend is that one can absorb themselves into another person, or paralyze them by looking into their eyes. Kaden cannot do this, but he can transfer his consciousness into another animal. He cannot control it, but he can see what it sees and hear what it hears, so long as it stays somewhat nearby.

Equipment:
Ritual bag: A bag of bones and dust that he can use for dark charms.
Bone darts: Darts that inflict a strong sense of fear upon the victim and leaves barely perceptible wounds.
Corpse dust: Bone dust that can poison the victim to varying degrees. Usually not fatal.
Blow gun: A simple wooden pipe for shooting darts.
Skinning knife: Just a knife for when he needs a new pelt. Also kills people fairly well if needed. Has a deer horn hilt.
Hatchet/Tomahawk: Just an axe for when he's in the woods, or needs something bigger than his knife. He can throw it with decent accuracy.

Personality:
He has a very dead-pan personality, often making very dry jokes without laughing himself. He is very laid back and slow to anger, and in a tense situation is usually the last to lose his cool. However, he is sorely lacking in empathy and while he usually can play nice, he doesn't win friends easily either. At best, he has "acquaintances." At worst, he's terribly insensitive at the wrong moment.

History:
When he turned twelve, he learned of his heritage. He was part native, and was from a lineage of skin-walkers. The dark ritual to become one was forced upon him, and his pet cat was killed in front of him, to test to see if he would be able to successfully absorb its essence and transform, and also to begin slowly twisting his emotions from being a normal, happy child to being a practitioner of darker magic. He was taught all about the rituals and dark things that native witches did... and he became quite good at it. However, he had a spark of independent thought. He swore to himself that he would commit one, great sin -- and then never again.

He killed his entire family, using the dark magic they'd taught him. In a way, it back-fired. In removing their darkness from the world, he took it upon himself, twisting himself further. He became more cold on the inside than his family had ever been. However, he ran on autopilot, continuing to work toward something better as he'd promised himself he would. He would use his horrid magic for something good, even if it isn't what he really wants anymore. Then again, he didn't know what he wanted anymore.

However, after some years passed, he found a little direction when he stumbled across certain bar filled with an entire community of people not too different from himself. Other people who had magic, weren't human, and dark pasts. He chose to stick around, hide what he was from the rest of the world, and wait until a path opened itself up for him. Maybe his chance to do good would come.

(OK, that's what I came up with. I can dumb it down to be just "an adept magic user who turns into animals" if that's what you'd prefer. I tried to keep it more in line with the original Navajo skin-walker legends though. Just let me know if anything isn't acceptable and I'll go fix it.)
