Updated the list above,
Though I should emphasize that people really don't need to worry about the gender balance. I don't know anyone aligned with the MRA so I'm not in any danger... I think xD

To be honest I might even prefer a higher male count since I personally prefer to make female characters, currently have 3~4 females planned and debating the inclusion of one of my male characters.

But yeah, I prefer a gender imbalance over people playing characters they're uncomfortable or unable to tune in with. Might seem like a fun challenge at first, but I am sort of hoping to carry this long term.
That said, I suppose character death/replacement isn't too hard to incorporate.

Got the Character Sheet written up so I’ll post it here
(Can also be found in the first post)
Note: Magatama have been changed to be a bit more interesting since the whole element thing… sort of sucks xD

Please post any questions or suggestions below.
Additionally I wouldn’t mind having a Co-GM for this RP since it’d ease the burden on myself and make sure we have a variety of events. I personally tend to ‘bully’ character with my event plots. Please note that I want a Co-GM, not an OoC Moderator. PM for further details.

Could I reserve the Perseus Megatama, please? Perseus' Mirror will be able to reflect status ailments.

I don't really think it's necessary to reserve anything since people are usually considerate enough to not double up on an already presented idea. But for the sake of conflict avoidance, it's reserved.

Status Ailments mind need to be altered a bit though.
Status Ailments are pretty clear in a Persona/SMT game, but I'm not sure how effective it'll be in a no-stats RP.
Shadows for the most part (Yes I'll call them that) are mainly immune to ailments and only have an active/inactive state. (I doubt they need to sleep, lower tiers are too stupid to get confused, poison... dunno? and Paralysis is the same as inactive).

Tried to think of an alternative but currently only pulling blanks.
Again I'd be happy to discuss ideas.

No problem, let me know if you think anything else up.

I'm pretty sure everyone here knows how to write up a simple CS, so I'm not going to be fussy with the details.
It's mainly the Weapon Ability that'll stall people.
If you want to make a character around an ability then it's probably best to run the ability past me before writing up a character. If your character's adaptable, then feel free to just shove a completed CS in my face xD

The two points to note when thinking up an ability.
1: Is it viable in this RP?
For cases like the above it might be a bit difficult to discern, but other things should be pretty obvious. A contraption that lets you speak in any language is going to help you since Shadows probably don't want to negotiate with you.

2: Is it within the limits listed under weapons?
-While abilities can assist in defeating an enemy, they're not 1HKO spells.
-They're magical items, not magical powers. (No summoning something from nothing)
-Visually the ability should be closer to superstition than magic.

3: Weapon Summoning
Utility is probably more fun to play in my opinion, but the traditional weapons will be pretty important too. While I'll accept things like switchblades, none of the characters have a normal weapon tucked away. That means to acquire a sword/spears/etc you need to go traditional. Guns are a bit more plausible, but if it's a blackmarket gun, then I promise you I'll give you hell for it during the RP. (I'm not sure how far possession laws go in Japan, but carrying a samurai sword around in the city will get you arrested.... an no you can not hide them beneath your shirt) >_> xD

Seems interesting, though I foresee the players getting their asses handed to them on the start. I played a SMT based game before the guild fall, so I was wondering if you would mind if I reused the character while adapting it to this Rp ? If I remember he only had three-five posts before that Rp died.

For a magatama I was thinking maybe Spartoi( a gladius/ traditional weapon) or Suseri-Hime(some sort of protective scarf / enchantment).

I don't know about ass handling but I certainly don't intend to kill anyone off :P
Knowledge of SMT and Persona help in understanding, but as I said initially aren't necessary so that's not an issue.

As for reused characters, there's no way for me to tell the difference between a used and new character now is there? Especially since the old guild is gone and I can't stalk previous posts :P
Either way reusing old characters is completely fine as long as they're adapted to suit the RP.

As for weapons
Spatroi (Gladius): Since this is a traditional weapon I have no problems with it. Others should note however that I classify this as a sword. I might allow one more sword since it's the staple weapon of choice most of the time though. Though a second sword would either had two be a two-handed sword or something different regionally like a katana.

Suseri-Hime (Scarf): The description provided is way too vague for me to make any specific comments.
I imagined a scarf that moves around on it's own accord and blocks attacks, but that would be a Traditional x Enchantment mix. For a moment I imagined a scarf that turns the wielder invisible, and that could be accepted under some restrictions... but that's not what you're suggesting is it?
I could picture some sort of scarf that acts as a protective charm/barrier/repellant for shadows.... but that idea needs to be refined more.

Extra note: If people are fine with a common weapon like a baseball bat than you can opt to have a Weapon Ability for use in the real world. Abilities work equally well in both worlds so if you'd rather focus on utility that's completely unrelated to combat you're more than welcome to do so.

I can volunteer as CoGM if you like, I love this kind of RP.

also I'd like super acrobatics as an ability, not sure of specifics but basically the ability to jump high/parkour/etc. but not faster than a normal human and regardless of strength.

I see, now thinking do wounds carry from one dimension to the next? Hard to explain all types of damage with "I fell from the stairs" >.>

I mentioned that because some GMs have issues with these things so there would be no misunderstandings.

The spartoi could be a spear instead if people really want swords.

I was vague on the scarf because I wasn't entirely sure how to fine tune it in a non-broken way as its defining characteristic was granting protection. An invisibility cloack sounds more like a phantom/wraith item ^^

@Draconilian
Let me think about the GMship a bit.
While it was something I wanted to get out, it isn't a high priority at this stage :P
As for super acrobatics you might get away with Enchanted Shoes.... but you'd lose the Spear weapon.
Heightened performance is a trait attained by two Traditional Type Magatama though so it probably wouldn't be allowed otherwise.

Parkour: I'll be honest, I don't like it.
It's an overused character trait and I've seldom seen it being put to good use. If you want you could note it down as a normal trait of your character, but it wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary. Obviously you'd need to add a bit of info regarding how they attained or became interested in athletics if you do though.

@Loremaster
Haha, I was actually thinking about wounds earlier myself, and my conclusion is;

Wounds do carry over from both worlds.
Under the contortion of logic principle any damage caused it one world carries over to the other so it's only natural that character injuries do too. To prevent our characters from looking like they've been put through a meat blender though I've decided that characters recover at an alarmingly fast rate when they're awake (In the real world). While a blinded eye or severed limb could take a few days, a fatal stab wound to the chest could be gone in a day whereas scratches and bruises would be gone within an hour or two. As for "Falling down stairs" it's your job to create a believable excuse, and my job to determine whether the people around you believe you or end up believing something different.

Draconilian expressed interested in a spear/polearm type weapon on the first page of this thread so I'd have to say that spear-type weapons are currently taken.

As for scarfs I imagined the Hagoromo of a Tennyo for some reason :/
But you're right, it sounds like something out of Harry Potter xD
As for the protective scarf the only thing I could come up with is it being made of a endurance based fabric. Pretty much acting as a flexible shield/armor type thing. Though as stated under Enchantments it'd be restricted to utility (or in this case defense based scenarios) exclusively.... Aka no towel whipping to cause serious butt pain. :P

the reason I had acrobatics/parkour and a spear was I'm evoking the traditional Dragoon archetype of Final Fantasy, highly mobile spear wielders who attack from above.

I really hate how I'm shooting ideas down everytime I post T_T
I'm not too familiar with the early Final Fantasy games, but normally the Dragoon archetype (I'd assume) isn't something that's unlocked from the very start. Unless you can somehow validate why your character would be proficient wielding a spear in modern Japan your character really won't be a 'fighting class' until the RP progresses a fair bit.

And before anyone asks "I'm a black belt! in ***" won't be rejected outright, but will be scrutinized prior to being accepted.
Regardless of what you are, your character really shouldn't have spent their entire childhood preparing to fight Shadows, and I'd assume there's a difference between Kendo practice and actually fighting for your own life in a bizarre yet familiar world.

Overall, I'd be happy to see your character progress into the Dragoon archetype over time if that's what you're aiming for. But as an initial starting point I'd assume your character would be focusing on hitting his/her target rather than using flashy moves to wow the imaginary audience. Again, increased physical prowess is a trait of using two Traditional type Magatama's, so you could follow the archetype with or without parkour.

Persona/SMT-esque stuff? Definitely interested. Been wanting to do a persona RP for a while but those dont pop up, so something with inspirations from it is right up her alley.

Hey, it's me again.

Because I'm not familiar with Persona or other things this roleplay was based on, I have a few questions. One question, is there a list of magatama, or do we kinda brainstorm it ourselves? Would any kind of hero or historical figure be accepted?

Also, I'm assuming characters do not know that they've ingested "magatama" in the beginning?

I'm a little bit confused when it comes to the weapons aswell. You would not like us to have weapons that are alike? I think you mentioned something about a limit on swords or a limit on spears. And is it possible for a character to have a "normal" item, but use it as a traditional weapon? For example, a pen or something, that won't really have any abilities but can be summoned in a time of need? And would a chainsaw count as a traditional weapon and under what category would that fall under (like a katana counts as a sword)? Last question, how will the characters come about these weapons? Do they just appear or have they always secretly had them (though that wouldn't really make sense lol)?

I apologize for not really being "in the know" about the rules and such.... Ehh, but I was planning on making a male character.

Sorry about vanishing, the past few days were a bit busy.

On topic, I was probably going to make a male chatacter. And, if possible, mentiom that I'd probably like to use a King Arthur Magatama. Mentioned in the explanation? ... Admittedly, yes, but that's not the reason why. XD He's a favorite of mine to use for such things.

I'll try and see about putting together a CS, but I might end up with a few questions.

Hmm not even sure if this will be taking off now xD
I sort of had to vanish (and am still vanished) since I've got an assignment that's due Sunday that I'd barely touched. Haven't received any CS's yet. Though that might be because I went poof xD
I don't mind you using Arthur, though I should clarify that Excalibur (or whatever sword) doesn't have any powers. Not until you get your second magatama which will be a fair way into the RP at least anyway.
@AoStar
Sorry about the lack of response, I'll reply now.

A magatama can basically be anything. There is no list to choose from. I do prefer people to use mythical/historical figures, but you can go with something more broad like a Goblin, Yeti, Vampire etc and take traits from that. if you want to customize your own mythical figure.... I'm open to discussion, but it probably won't work.

None of your characters have ingested Magatama at the beginning of the RP. That'll happen in the first few visits to Rebirth. At the start of the RP your character would just be a typical student with no special powers, that's suddenly been thrown into a strange world.

A traditional weapon can be anything. An axe, sword, chair, dynamite, bottle of ketchup, or a pen.
A traditional weapon can be anything, and can be used as a weapon (stab) or it's traditional use (writing on paper). It however won't have any abilities out it's original use. Also keep in mind that a sword is a lot more efficient as a weapon than a pen. Your pen can break, and if it breaks it disappears and can't be summoned again for a set period of time. (Resummoned pen is fixed, not broken).

It depends on the weapon of choice, but I would not classify a chainsaw as a sword.
The ability to summon the 'object' is a trait a character receives once they've ingested a magatama. As such, none of the characters will have their weapon initially.
The objects can be summoned out of thin air, and be unsummoned as well.

I'm definitely interested in this now. Are you still accepting players?

And another question. You said that injuries heal very quickly while Awake, does this also apply to injuries or physical disabilities that were present before ingesting the Magatama?

Hello Crate
Thanks for expressing interest. I'm glad to see that this idea hasn't totally died yet.

Regarding previously acquired injuries it won't heal them.
When a magatama is ingested it will take a blueprint of your body and memorize it. From that point on, any injury you sustain will try and recover itself to the point the magatama was ingested. This allows for the growing of missing limbs and the absence of ghastly scars.

If you'd like to include pre-ingestion healing. (Eg; A blind person being able to see for the first time) that can be included in the RP through other means).
