Oh, hello. It appears I've shown up quite late to this party. I want to join, so I'll make a character over the course of the day (since I'm in school) and edit it into this post.
Name: Rina Lowell

Alias: Rave

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Personality: Rina prefers silence in her off hours, often reading or on the computer when not sleeping or working. When she is working at the club near her house, she is loud and has a huge stage presence, whipping up the crowd into a frenzy with a few songs. She prefers to have a separation between her super hero life and her personal one, often times not even revealing her identity to other supers. Rina doesn't have a clear cut and dry morality. She likes stopping people from doing awful things, as well as getting money and credit for it. She refuses to explain why she sends a vast majority of her pay checks to a hospital that she regularly visits. Rina is usually sarcastic and enjoys dry humor, but when not on the job she likes not having too much attention.

Persona: Rave is sarcastic and witty, often bantering with the bad guys for hours on end just to annoy them. Rave likes to tease them, drawing out short battles into long ones in public. However, she will quickly end any battles that will not receive any public attention. It all depends in wether or not she thinks a battle is going to be on the news in a day or two. Rave only fights supervillians, and never dabbles in climbing a tree to save a cat or doing any other small deeds of kindness. She always says she never has time for mundane tasks any idiot with a hood and a pair of brass knuckles can fix.

Appearance: Standing at about 5'5'', Rina has short but spiky blue hair that sticks up just about everywhere. She wears large purple shades when doing her regular day job and a large set of headphones around her neck. She wears a purple and black striped shirt with a red tie over it, often times the tie will be crooked and loose. She wears long black slacks she has splattered with several dark colors, and some special paint that only shows under black light. Most of the paint is concentrated at the bottom. Green converse and plain black socks are the rest of her outfit for her regular day.

Costume: Large, purple goggles cover her eyes when fighting, and she usually wears a loose hoodie jacket with a large music note on the back. The designs rotate as she changes jackets, but they are usually music related. She wears a specially fitted black catsuit under the hoodie, and the catsuit comes up her neck. Her sleeves are often rolled up and pinned there by elbow pads. The catsuit ends at her wrists, and she wears fingerless and tattered gloves on each hand that are wired up her back. These gloves have a uniquely designed speaker on each palm. She keeps her usual green converse shoes on, as well as a pair of baggy black cargo pants that store everything from gum to her cell phone.

Powers/Skills and how they came about:
The reactor that she'd snuck off to see apart from her regular tour group overloaded and shooting off a piece of junk her way. She didn't have much time to react, and when she did, the energy released from the generator kick started her powers. The CEO who had just so happened to visit on the same day saw the rise of the best mercenary money could hire.
Rina's powers include:
-The ability to stick to walls, provided nothing is coating the surface like oil or grease. Her power doesn't work on humans for obvious reasons.
-Gloves that act as a sort of 'Sonic Cannon' blasting out concentrated sound waves that can easily knock an average sized human back. These often blast her favorite tunes at enemies or more often than not, dub step.
-Kinetic absorption, which can then be used in one of three ways. The first is enhancing her strength and allowing her return the energy she has stored up in a punch or kick. The second is using the energy to make herself faster, using the stored energy to give herself super speed as long as her stores allow. And finally, if she builds up enough kinetic energy, she can fire it through her gloves as laser beam, but this burns through more energy quicker than the other techniques. The downside to kinetic absorption is that she has to be prepared to store the energy, should Rave not be prepared for a punch, instead of absorbing it she will be hurt like the average human. She can still be cut, mangled, or slightly bruised if the punch if strong enough; even while absorbing kinetic energy.

Rise to Fame:
Rave had been assigned a 'difficult' task. Taking down a supervillian named 'Rhino'. Well, it wouldn't be difficult if she was careful, and she was almost always careful. Not to mention the idiot had clearly ripped off Spiderman for the name and outfit. The loser.
Naturally, Rave strode into the headquarters of the nefarious 'Rhino' only to find more than the one supervillian. In fact, it had been one of the few rare team ups for the group, and her blind luck had her stumbling on some of the more irritating troublemakers for the city.
One choked on his coffee.
"Don't just stand there, stop her you idiots!" as Rave never kept tabs on any of the up and coming supervillians, she only called the one that spoke the Pharmacist due to his gear.
Rhino, the unoriginal grunt, charged at her, and Rave held him back with just a pinky, prepared for his moronic charge. "Geez, I would have hoped that something more exciting was going to happen when I finally took down a supervillian. You guys are just chumps." when she finished, she used some of her stored energy to kick Rhino across the room, having him land on the table where the supervillians were plotting. "Next up?" she asked, flexing her pinky for emphasis.
The rest of the supervillians gave up, surrendering on the spot. Rave turned the six -including Rhino who later received a C&D from Marvel- into the police station who investigated the hideout to find dirty bomb plans and strategic locations around the city where they would be placed. Her accidental run in quickly turned into a huge thing, with a parade and a key to the city for her efforts. Since then, the company she works for has made sure to exploit and enlarge her fame to the wider public.

Arch Nemesis: Peregrine. Code name for the old super mercenary that Rave replaced. Can shapeshift and use super speed. Not much is known about him outside of his vast network of supervillians at his disposal. He won't stop until he replaces Rave in the spotlight. They are similar and height and mannerisms, but Rave has denied any relation to Peregrine.

Personal Arc: Rave will have to reveal her identity to the world and deal with the sudden surge of attention. It's what she wanted, but the villains from her own past will make what she wished for a quick and clean way out of the life of a superhero. Her tie to the hospital will be revealed during this arc.

I was thinking the base is just an HQ that we meet up at, unles you want to go for a teen titans type of approach and have them live there

EDIT: And alright, pretty sure we aren't that many at this point anyways.

There we go. Sorry for any errors, I'm working against Autocorrect which believes her name is Tina.

Hrm, I'd always imagined our characters living at their base, Teen Titan's esque. I mean, won't most of the action and interaction take place or be launched from there? Or were you intending to have everyone post about what they do during their own time, too? I guess that could be pretty interesting and lead to good character development. If it doesn't work out, you could always just have someone bring up the idea to move into the base later, would make much more sense than doing the reverse.

I'm not opposed to living in the base or making it happen later, I'll let everyone vote. By the way, everyone accepted is

-Dancepants
-cunfuzzler
-shard
-lookie
-raindash

and that's it, so once we decide if they live in the base or not at the start, I'll work on the first IC post.

Woohoo! Accepterated! Gosh it feels like forever since the interest check, I'm so excited to get this going!

As for the living arrangements. Although I feel like it may be awkward to write at first, I vote for NOT living at the base. It will give us the opportunity to write about our character's private lives and it's not like superhero level threats would be going on often enough to warrant a 24 hour staff, is it? Or am I underestimating the 'evil never sleeps' thing?

I thought that, being a character driven Rp, we'd want downtime at the base so our characters weren't only interacting during crisis situations but that can come later if they move into the base further into the Rp.

At the very least we can just post something like 'okay, the crisis is over, everyone go home to bed' and then pick up the next time there's a disaster. I just think it'll be an interesting dynamic, separating the heroes from the people behind them.

So yes, to reiterate, I vote for not living at the base.

To me it doesn't matter much. It would be fun to live together, but at the same time it's fun working to that point. My vote for not living at the base at first, but I would like to get to that point.

I personally like the idea of us not living at the base, at least not first. If the RP happens to go to living together at some point, it's all cool, but I agree with DancePants. Being able to separate the hero persona from the person behind the mask sounds like the best idea.

Not only that, my guy really isn't the kind of person to rush into sharing living quarters with anyone.

Hugs? Sure thing. Just don't be surprised if Elijah uses some hand sanitizer afterwards. He really is silly stupid with this cleanliness thing.

Maybe Elijah should be the one sealed inside a robot? No germs in there.

I'm sure he'd love it. Next arc for Elijah: he builds a giant robot suit. No! Not just a suit. I will make himself into a robot!

... or not. I'm not sure if that'd really fit in, no matter how much he'd like it, heh.

I imagine that he'd be upset if he realized that when you build stuff, it doesn't start out very sanitary to begin with. Maybe he needs some sort of hand sanitizer hose that he can spray at people before he has to hug them or something.

I'm sure Elijah will get used to any possible hugs as time goes on. I can't see him reacting all too well to any surprise surprise though, haha. All and any possible awkward situations should be fun to play out.

The hand sanitizer hose sounds like a great idea. Thank you for the idea, RainDash!

alright, so we're agreed that we'll start out using the base solely as an HQ, and later on as a living quarters. Now, second question, the order of arcs.

I intend to have it so that the first set of events will be focusing on basically just a villain that gets our heroes to work together for the first time to stop him, but after that, how do you want to tackle this? Do you want to leave this for later, or setup the order in which our characters get their personal stories now?
