I am still accepting applications! Right now we have a good amount of combat specialists but no strong biotics or tech experts, so if you are looking to make a character that's going to be fighting a lot, it would be great if you could bring that variety. I'd also like to have another non-combat-based crew member too, such as an engineer or quartermaster.ABOUT:This is a Mass Effect-based role play that takes place during the events of Mass Effect 3. A consortium of wealthy and connected individuals have pooled their resources together to sponsor, fund, and build the
Unity, a military spaceship with a multiracial crew. The ship and its assorted crew are intended to be a representation interspecies cooperation that is necessary to win the Reaper War.
The
Unity will be dispatched to carry out various tasks to help the war effort, such as evacuating a colony, interrupting Reaper scouts, delivering intel for other operations, and more. They go where they are needed and serve how they can. The ship itself is a small but well-equipped structure designed for evasive behavior and quick delivery. It is not intended to engage in large ship-to-ship battles but instead be a quick lightning-strike to the Reapers' weak spot.
The
Unity is not a member of any of the major military organizations; they are their own independent force who aims only to help with the war. This means that the
Unity may cooperate however it can with other forces, such as the Systems Alliance. The project is special because it is a symbolic advocate for cooperation between all species. The ultimate goal of the Unity, besides undermining the Reapers in any possible way, is to spur the galaxy to unite against a common enemy.
THE CONSORTIUM:The Consortium is the trio of powerful individuals who banded together to found Project Unity. They are all influential individuals who bring different resources to the project. They have their own specific motivations for supporting the project, but in the end, they all want an end to the Reaper War.
1. Angorles Crassus is a powerful, ruthless, and chillingly composed arms dealer based on the Citadel. In the last five years, he has taken the position of company president following his father's "accidental" death. He has also started a new division of his business, Crassus Security, and has provided protective services for a seedier clientele while dealing arms to the just and the criminal. Angorles provides Project Unity with weapons, hardware, and security.
2. Naria Raleen is a corporate human who lives on the Citadel. She has inherited a large media-based business from her self-made parents. She runs several publications and vid networks and knows exactly how to manipulate viewers to think, feel, and spend how she wants them to. Ms. Raleen is in charge of the project's publicity and propaganda. She is also the primary financial contributor.
3. Lysia Vesiri is an asari matriarch, politician, and diplomat. She is highly regarded for harboring peaceful and cooperative relations between the various republics on Thessia. She is one of several asari who serve as an ambassador to the rest of the galactic community. She is the project's main spokesperson.
**I will control all of the Consortium characters. They won't be around that often.
WHERE YOU COME IN:You play the role of a
Unity crew member. There are many stations to man on a ship, so you have a large number of options to pick from. A ship needs pilots, comm specialists, medics, engineers, combat specialists, etc. For the sake of the story, there should be a good number of combat-based characters to be deployed for a mission.
EXPECTATIONS:
- This is a casual role play, so don't post anything less than a paragraph, absolute minimum. Your goal should be to post at least 2-3 paragraphs most of the time.
- Mind spelling and grammar as best you can. As long as you dont type lyk dis ill be ok lol
- No "God-modding" other characters outside of reason. If you want to do anything major to another person's character (like shank them), you should PM or OOC them about it first... But I'm sure you knew all this already.
- Please, God, no Mary Sues. No one is perfect! Remember that this isn't about who has the most powerful character; it's about cooperative storytelling and having fun :D
- There's that whole "Life" thing that people usually need to take care of. Please just try to post as much as you can. If you are going to be away for a while, make sure you set it up so you're character isn't vital to the current operation. If you are in a scene with someone and they are gone for a long time, you can write an exit somehow and move on.
CHARACTER PROFILEPlease put a good amount of effort into your character profile. It is an application for the role play, after all. I look for character insight, writing ability, and editing. While I know that this is just a character sheet and not an actual writing test, I need to be able to tell that you are going to write in a bearable way. That sounds extremely snotty, I know. My main point: please use proper grammar and spelling to the best of your ability, and show me that you can write about a unique, compelling character.
Name:
Appearance: Please use a word description. You don't have to be super detailed here if you don't want to. As long as you have the basics, you'll be okay. If you want, you can supplement it with a picture, but the key word here is supplement.
Race:
Age:
Biotic ability: Briefly describe if your character has any biotic capabilities. If so, include how strong of a biotic they are.
Biography: Here you should explain some things about your character's past. Where have they lived? What have they done with their life? Are they ex-military? Anything you can think of can go here. It doesn't have to be too, too long, but I do appreciate detail. 1-2 paragraphs would be great.
Personality: I'm sure we'll learn something about your character from the actual role playing, but include a little something here.
Position: Tell me what role your character will play on the ship. Are they a pilot? Are they a combat specialist (do they get deployed on missions as fighters)?. **Please also describe your character's skills and, if you want, training.**
Other: Put anything else you want to say here.
THE BOTTOM LINEThe main thing here is to have fun telling a story together. This is going to be a decent-quality role play, so there will be a decent amount of thought, care, commitment, and effort that we all have to put into this. Still, I understand we can all be tired, busy, and suffer with writer's block. Please just do the best you can without spoiling the fun for yourself or others :)
ABOUT THE SHIP:
"The ship itself is a small but well-equipped structure designed for evasive behavior and quick delivery. It is not intended to engage in large ship-to-ship battles but instead be a quick lightning-strike to the Reapers' weak spot."
Here is a very basic layout of the ship. You are all free to invent whatever you think would exist in the ship.
DECK 1: Conference Room, CO's quarters, XO's quarters
DECK 2: Command Center, Primary Ship Entrance/Exit, Med Bay
DECK 3: Engine, Batteries, Calibration Center
DECK 4: Crew's Quarters, Cargo Hold, Mess Hall, Bathrooms
THE CONSORTIUM IN DETAIL:
You don't have to read this if you don't want to. It's just extra information about the three people who own Project Unity.
Name: Angorles Crassus
Appearance: Six feet tall, rough skin with a grey tint that is darker than most turians. He has the body of a recent military retiree, although he has not served in the army for fifteen years.
Race: Turian
Age: 70
Biotic ability: None
Biography: Angorles is the son of two turian parents (Brugan Crassus, Eera Crassus). He was born in a northern section of Palaven where he lived for a good portion of his childhood. His father was a businessman on the Citadel and would visit only occasionally. His father was not the greatest, so Brugan and Angorles had a poor relationship. Conversely, Angorles was very close with his mother, who worked in a turian military R&D lab.
From age fifteen to thirty, Angorles served his fifteen years of mandatory military service and stayed for several years beyond that. He showed excellent potential and eventually rose to the position of Major. He held that position for five years and was being seriously considered for another promotion, but a poignant course of events led to his resignation instead. His mother became seriously ill in a laboratory mishap and died a few days after. The family's compensation went to the legal patriarch of the family, Angorles's father, and this enraged Angorles. He went to the Citadel to see his father for this first time in years. He wanted to find out what kind of life he could lead that would keep him away from his family. Angorles was extremely unhappy with his father, but he hid his distaste. He wanted to do something to disrupt the life his disloyal, adulterous father had going for him. He made this his personal vendetta; it was a motivation powerful enough for Angorles to leave the service over.
He eventually became his father's most trusted business associate. He learned about his father's arms dealing business, shared his valuable connections, and was brought into the loop about Brugan Crassus's shadiest operations. When he felt that there was nothing else his father could offer him, Angorles went behind his back and formed his own alliances with Brugan's associates, promising them bigger cuts, more authority, or whatever it took for his revenge to take place. Soonafter, Brugan Crassus was killed in an unfortunate skycar malfunction. Angorles had taken his father's entire life's work, the very business that kept him from being an attentive and compassionate father and husband to his mother, and used it against him. His revenge was complete.
Angorles inherited Crassus Arms. In the next five years, he increased the breadth of the business and opened up a new division: Crassus Security. His company served a seedier kind of clientele which included corrupt politicians, dealers of various sorts, etc. Crassus Arms was a protector of wealthy individuals, their property, and their secrets.
Upon the occupation of Palaven, Angorles was disgusted with himself. He used to be a military man, but he had gotten sucked into the corrupt and immoral world that his father used to occupy. He considered rejoining the military but decided he would instead use his business-related resources to help his homeworld. Being a Citadel bussinesman, he understands the necessity for cooperation between all races, and so he began Project Unity.
Personality: Angorles can seem gruff and ruthless. He is not known for mercy. He rules with cold, hard reason. He is almost always composed but maintains a certain severity about himself that makes him seem threatening. People are often afraid of Angorles because he is powerful and unsettlingly phlegmatic.
Position: Angorles is one of the members of the Consortium. He makes sure the crew gets the weapons and hardware it needs.
Name: Lysia Vesiri
Appearance: About 5' 4" tall. Slender. She holds herself with an impressive confidence reminiscent of regality. She dresses in a way many powerful matriarchs do: fashionably and always with some skin showing.
Race: Asari
Age: 860
Biotic ability: Her biotics are a bit out of practice. She could still crush someone, but with her old age and tendency to stay out of physical altercations, she should not be getting into any biotic battles.
Biography:
Lysia is married to a retired asari commando who is about one hundred years younger than her. Her wife lives on Thessia, like their two children. Her wife is a biotics instructor and her children are in the military, like their father (as in Lysia's spouse). Lysia's asari-asari born children are about the only blemish on her public reputation.
Lysia spent a large portion of her life being a student. She has always been an active member in the community and an advocate for various causes. She has been a politician and diplomat for about 200 years, and in that time she has made a respectable name for herself. She is known for pushing for peace and cooperation between the various republics on Thessia. She has recently become a Thessian ambassador and works on the Citadel now.
Personality: She is usually composed but can be a fierce advocate for what she believes in. She is a shrewd negotiator and, to help get what she wants, she has amassed all the leverage she can throughout the course of her political career. Beneath all of that, she just wants to do her part to win the Reaper War while still sticking to her own moral code.
Position: Lysia is the spokesperson for the project. She uses her poise, respect, and diplomatic connections to get the project as much support as possible.
Name: Naria Raleen
Appearance: Naria looks very young for her age; sshe has spent hundreds of thousands of credits on preserving her youthful appearance. She has short black hair, tanned skin, and a small frame. She enjoys dressing up in expensive clothing and flaunts herself as much as possible.
Race: Human
Age: 47
Biotic ability: None
Biography:
Naria grew up on the Citadel. Her parents were business-minded people who gave her everything she wanted. She grew up valuing money above all other things, learning from her parents that money was power, security, fun, and luxury. Naria inherited her business from her parents. They were self-made billionaires who rose from the slums of Omega to a polished life in the Citadel. This is a secret closely kept by Naria, who knows that it would potentially derail her reputation.
She loves money, power, and respect. She has a huge ego and will go to extreme measures to protect it. Still, she is impressively cunning. She knows how to manipulate the hearts and minds of people, which is why her job makes her so powerful. She owns various publications and vid programs.
Personality: She is very confident, flirtatious, social, and manipulative. The last trait is very useful to her since she works in the business of influencing her audiences to think, feel, and spend how she wants them to. She is unconcerned with moral matters and goes about her day with a concerning levity.
Position: Naria is in charge of Project Unity's publicity and propaganda. She is an owner of various publications and vid programs, so she uses these resources to control the project's image. She is also filthy rich and is a main source of the project's money. Unlike her consortium counterparts, she is invested in Project Unity because she thinks it will make her more powerful once the war is over (she's confident it will be won very soon). She is an opportunist at heart. Plus, she can't resist looking like a benevolent philanthropist.
