Name: Kenji "Ken" Hiroma
Title: VI
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Occupation: Journalist for New York Daily
Personality: As a kid and preteen Kenji was filled with joy. He was always happy, playing and the yard and all that kind of stuff, just enjoying being a child. However that joy faded away after his mother passed away in a terrible accident. Of course Kenji was devastated, but he still held his head up strong and continued, as he knew that his sweet mother wanted him not to dwell in the past. It was when his father got a new manipulating girlfriend that he became depressed. Several events lead up to his depression end made him perform some actions that may be considered illegal. He eventually got over it as he grew older. In the present day he is a journalist of Sakurami Daily he is a well respected man, of whom people expect high things from. He is laid back and always seems to be relaxed, without any stress. With his current position in the society he fears almost nothing, he has forgotten about his father and stepmother, and actually the only thing that matters today is his position. He seems like a very nice person on TV, and also is that when he talks to you. However when the topic is serious he can be very cold and sinister.
Skills: Like most people appearing on TV he can act very well. And with acting I mean lying to people and convince them that he is trustworthy. Although it is not really a skill, he has connections within the media industry and has a high position there and thus can command other people. Other than that he also seems to be a good material artist. He doesn't know how to handle a sword, and is clumsy with a gun, but is a strong fighter to compensate.
Future Diary: The Report Diary. The Report Diary takes the appearance of a small
camcorder. The Report Diary shows important, interesting and fun events that Kenji normally would film. When a new entry is added to the camera's memory a red light blinks so Kenji can watch it. Most of the entries have a maximum of 5 minutes of recording. The camera has infinite memory though. Some entries are only mere seconds long while others can last up to 5 minutes. The downside of it, is that Kenji only sees what is happening from the point where he records with his camera. So if something were to happen behind him he wouldn't know (or just outside of the camera's range). When a Dead End occurs the entry will have the
snow screen. The camera is strong and won't break if it falls out of his hands though, it will be damaged but will still work.
Backstory: Kenji grew up in a very rich family as an only child. He lived a happy life with both of his parents who took good care of him. However one day both of his parents got in a car accident. His mother was abrupt dead, while his father suffered from serious injuries and had to be hospitalized. During the time that his father was in the hospital he was being taken care of by the family's maid, a very nice old lady. His father, was nursed by a woman in whom he fell in love. When he was fired from the hospital, Kenji was shocked that he brought his nurse back home with him. He told Kenji that they were in love, and that his mother also wanted them to continue with their lives.
Kenji had a hard time accepting it, but did it for his father's sake. However his new wife manipulated his father, he was completely different from before. Kenji wasn't allowed to do much more, and his stepmother was also being very mean to him. The woman even got the maid fired because she suspected her of stealing money while she was the one doing it. Kenji decided to seclude himself from his family. With the money on his bank he bought a video camera and started recording things that happened around him, to fill the void of having no proper parents.
He became more and more interesting in recording important, fun and interesting events around him and wanted to go to a school that specialized itself in media. However his stepmother, and thus automatically his father, didn't want him to go there because it was expensive (and his stepmother wanted much money after his father would pass away). Kenji was enraged because it was his passion. So he stole the bankcard of his father, discovered the code, which was written in his father's nightstand notebook, and got most of the money off the account. Leaving a bit for them to still stay alive. He paid for all the four years of his collage, bought a nice small apartment and returned the card back to his father through the mail.
He did very well in the media school and had high grades for projects etc. He graduated as one of the top students and became to be a journalist for Sakurami Daily. Every day he would go out and interview people and record things with his video camera, which he kept all these years, even though there were professional camera's present. Most people know him as Ken however, the name he chose to be called on television.
Now that he has his future diary, he has made plans to go back into time and retrieve his mother to the current timeline so he can live happily with her, while also retaining his important position in the media.
Sample Post: It was yet another hard day of work. It was already late and Kenji hadn't eaten anything yet. He threw his jacket on the couch, turned the television on and headed into the kitchen to prepare some instant noodles for himself. It was done in three minutes. Kenji walked back to the living room and plumped down on the couch. It was a hard day of work indeed. He had to be at three different places today to make a report. Luckily he was always early and could record the event himself with his camcorder. He had been doing this for quite some time now. Maybe he did it for his mother, to record what he had achieved in his life. All the things that he has seen.
"I'm so happy that I can rest now." Kenji said to himself and pushed another fork of noodles into his mouth. "But it's still early in the evening." the voice of a little girl said in the room. It appeared to have come from behind. Kenji put his noodles on the table and quickly turned around, only to discover that there was no one. Maybe he was just hearing things. But when he turned back again he saw a little girl sitting on his table, eating his noodles!
"What the hell are you doing here? And why are you eating my noodles?" Kenji said a bit angered but remained calm.
"Dwont yo know?" the girl said with a mouth full of noodles before swallowing them all down her throat. "I'm here to give you a future diary! My name is Muru Muru!" the said in a cheery voice.
What was she talking about? A future diary? He didn't even keep a diary to begin with. "Could you perhaps explain the concept of this 'future diary'?" Kenji asked, with obvious confusion in his voice.
"Hehe. Okay let me break it down for you. Deus Ex Machina, the current God of this world, is dying. Now he wants to enact a Survival Game, a battle royal, to determine who shall take his job. Eleven others have been selected to compete against you, and the winner shall become God. The Future Diaries will help you see the future in the way you always have kept a diary and is your life literally." Muru Muru said very quickly.
"I kinda get it. But what would be my diary?" Kenji asked.
Muru Muru grabbed the camcorder that was lying on the table. "This thing. You've been recording everything with it. See you later at Deus's." she said and disappeared. Kenji grabbed his camcorder and inspected it. It wasn't really different from before, but if this were true, then his diary could be quite useful. And his position as God could finally reunite him with the one he loves most.
