I recall in a previous DK roleplay that I got a level 7 creature and 5 constructs, and I'm pretty sure somebody else made it to level 8 creatures and 6 constructs. I don't even remember the 40+ post waits, so I doubt it was that bad.

I'm definitely playing a Rogue Construct at least, though. Hopefully something that spreads disease, sort of an embodiment of the real influence of disease in wars and civilisations and stuff.

Ah shoot, disease was going to be a part of my rogue being as well. Well, I guess I'll let you have that theme and just tweak my guy a little bit. My planned backstory was that he created a plague for humans but stirred the cauldron too much and accidentally got some in one of his eyes. That withered and corrupted eye can melt the flesh off of anything it stares at.

I guess I could just be more vague and say that he was conjured up a curse. Actually, that works perfectly.

IVIasterJay said Sorry AT, but if it's any consolation, Xir'ain is a whole lot of fun to write.

No one has had to wait too long for their blueprints to be done so far, but we've only gotten up to five posts, which is easy enough to hit just by waiting for the others to post. If it does begin to slow your keeper down, just post for something other then your keeper while you wait. Constructs are perfect for perspective shifts, and if you don't have one of those just use a common minion.

Alright, that clears things up. Looks like I've been misreading the post wait idea, I thought it would involve the players own posts, which didn't make much sense. Thanks.

I haven't really planned anything yet for a Construct. So far I like the idea of flying around by night in the form of a demon moth, spreading suffering and sickness wherever the dust falls from my decaying wings (don't we all). Just roaming around and making life worse for everyone I come across, basically. Your idea seems more thought out, so feel free to make that first in whatever way you like and I'll find another niche.

As for a Keeper, though, I'm thinking of a general 'cleric'-type race, that heals, repairs or enervates the other Keeper armies/dungeons on a massive scale, or at least those it finds favour with. Aquatic things are still fun, so I might go for a coral reef dungeon, with delicate floating jellyfish minions. While I'm at it, my Keeper could also convince humans to become their servants by healing and soothing their pain to appear as a benevolent god-figure (to the humans they like, again. The rest can get eaten by ogres). Whatever I do, though, I'm going to think through my character ideas a while longer before I hop in.

E: An idea for the construct. Perhaps in the former realm, the ones the first Keepers destroyed, there was a construct (or similar being) that attempted to bring peace by supporting the human effort as a healing force (like my prototype Keeper), taking the form of a sacred butterfly. The old Keeper that defeated the construct hated the butterfly, and decided to refrain from destroying it completely in favour of sending it into the new dimension in a demented moth form of its old body. The new body, which the healer could not control but was imprisoned within, would feel nothing but malice and hatred for all life and would unknowingly torment the old soul within by going against everything the butterfly had believed in. Or something like that. Still thinking about all of this. We obviously already have an insect faction, for one, but the general idea could still work with different aesthetics.

It's good that you're taking the time to really plan out your characters. A few times I've fallen into the trap of making a character that I thought would be awesome, but soon grow to dislike and abandon.

Your construct idea sounds good. Your keeper could work, too, although it's a bit unconventional... Having your expertise being to help other Keepers' creatures will make your guy weaker in other aspects. A more aggressive Keeper with no interest in making friends might try to take your dungeon rather than ally.

So yeah, keep tossing around ideas until you're ready to post. Getting a few pages behind shouldn't screw you over much, at least in the long run.

The idea of a slime girl rogue being is becoming more and more appealing... and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Hmm, good timing with that storm, Cavalier. We coordinated the weather without realizing it!

So Jay, still interested in my rogue being now that you actually know about it? If so, do you have any ideas for how he could find Xir'ain, or vice versa?

Interested? Sure.

Just know that it would be in line with Xir'ain's character to attempt to kill it upon their first meeting. As far as finding him, since Xir'ain's tunnels spread in every directions just below the ground, and since Balon would be really heavy, what if his foot broke through the ground and fell into one of the watery tunnels? The eels would totally frenzy and try to eat him, but I'd hope he wouldn't let them do that. Xir'ain is 150 miles away from his dungeon's heart at the moment, closer to Ensis'Lucas actually, so he might be busy dealing with things for a little while before he can direct all his attention towards a certain pestilent giant.

Right now I'll see if I can throw together a post that gets Xir'ain back to the heart at least.

Falling into one of the tunnels sounds like a great idea. Or perhaps Xir'ain could investigate the farm just in time to see Balon come smash down the houses and kill/enslave/eat the locals. Either way, if their first encounter will be a fight, I'm not sure where to go from there. Balon obviously isn't the type to back down, since he conjured a plague knowing fully well that there would some terrible punishment for it. So I guess the next question to ask is whether Xir'ain would be willing to negotiate if he was either matched blow for blow, or defeated. This early on in the RP, the keepers just haven't gained enough power to be capable of defeating powerful rogue beings with impunity.

You know, something that I've been wondering is what those eels actually do get to eat. Do they just survive purely off of eating the rocks in those tunnels?

The eels eat the rock, grasses from the surface, stray animals that fall into the water, and whenever one of them dies to starvation, they'll eat that too. So far they haven't resorted to eating each other alive, but they're getting hungrier. The imps are looking tastier and tastier.

Xir'ain wouldn't stand a chance against Balon in a fair fight, on land at least. I doubt Xir'ain could do anything to harm the giant if he wanted to. So long as Balon proved his strength, it wouldn't matter what he did to Xir'ain.

Good to see everyone thinking and churning out posts.

@AT, welcome here. I think you have some very nice ideas. A healing Keeper is very unconventional, but it sounds promising. I guess in battle you'll be spending more time empowering your servants than actually fighting. If you can heal, why stop at curing wounds and ailments? Why not go further and augment strength and stamina too?

@Dawnon, I suppose it is reasonable to lure them in with meals, appealing to their needs and desperation, then keep their loyalty through mental manipulation, which is something your Keeper has demonstrated he is capable of.

Got Xir'ain back to his heart in one huge post, though I have the feeling that it's missing something. Oh well, I'll think of it later. Feel free to have Balon show up whenever, or wherever. Between saving an insignificant human's life, quelling an imp/eel riot, and a death-eyed giant, I think Xir'ain is going to need to sort out his internal issues before taking on world conquest.

I'll post as Shaige, then have Balon fall into the tunnel and maybe kill an eel or two, and then have him start swimming up the tunnel. That way you can get in something like 2-4 posts about Af and the human girl before dealing with Old Deadeyes.

Edit: And Dawnon, your posts are good. Actually, come to think of it, I've been really liking everybody's writing so far. I hope everyone else can say the same.

And BBeast, it occurred to me that I haven't exactly been doing a good job writing my entries for the Compendium. Sorry about that; I'll have to do better on that front with my next few creatures. I also realized that I haven't given out coordinates for Shaige's dungeon yet. You can just plop it down in the foothills of one of the mountains, due west of Paterdomus.

not to be a buzzkill doc trap but you dont actually mine black powder. You can mine reagents and ingredients to make it like phosphor nitrate and stuff like that and then mix it to make black powder but not mine already mixed black powder, also if the imps are using pickaxes and theyre mining the black powder they would have blown open the world a new asshole with the tiniest spark

I would like to thank you for pointing those things out. Everyone makes mistakes, and I do like the company of those who point them out, so that they can be remedied.

So, what is going on with the religion in Paterdomus? Did I miss a large part of that conversation, or are you still working on it, Cyclone?

Well, I was going to have Shaige fly over to the city and investigate it soon, and when that happened I was going to describe Paterdomus and its clergy in detail. Currently he's with spying on a tribe of people living in the mountains west of Paterdomus.

To be honest I've put myself into a weird spot here and due to poor planning, I'm not quite sure what to write, hence my silence for the past few days. I had planned for Shaige to discover that Paterdomus' fire and water cults are waging a crusade against the surrounding people. As simple as that sounds, I'm struggling to write a post revealing that information IC and have Shaige's story play out.

As in for your rogue being, I expressed some interest after that PM you sent me, and that still remains. Shaige is just occupied for the time being, so if your rogue being is imprisoned by the fire/water priests in Paterdomus, or driven off, they could meet once my keeper gets around to investigating the city. Alternatively, you could figure something out with BBeast or somebody else.
