Voting seems a cool option and a fair way to nominate a GM. I vote for Tearstone. :)

Okay we'll just probably go for tearstone, although KOKO should help as it be fair.

I mean technically you guys could all help, (For the people that worked together in making a setting and the lot).

So I think we have gathered more interests and can go onto making the OOC?

I like collaborative works, or at least with group consensus... at least that way everybody feels directly involved, and gets to weigh in on things. I'd be more than happy to run the show and play the game engine, and help arbitrate when it comes to decisions. I.E,, I could GM, sure. I'd be my first run GMing on The Guild, but not my first time in other venues. I would certainly appreciate help. Koko's input would be welcome,as well as anybody else who knows much of anything about Florida. I'm a little nervous about it, just because I want to do it right and be successful with it. I want to make something that keeps people interested. I'm pretty big on freedom, so long as there's logic to what happens. If you jump off the side of a cruise liner to water 100 feet below, it -will- be like jumping onto concrete. You will break bones and most likely die. Half that distance, it's just gonna hurt, and you'll probably go deep. Ears might pop, might hurt your inner ear, but survivable, sure.

I'd want to place an emphasis on survival, in that track your food, water, health, fitness, stamina, injuries, and how hot or cold they are. Zombies are there, and they're a problem, but so is the loss of amenities, and the need to provide for yourself without supermarkets, grocery stores, gardens (if you want to start one, that's awesome), and so on. There's an adjustment process, and a learning curve. I wouldn't want people to track it to the point of not being fun, but just something to keep in mind. Also you boys and girls might pick up a few things, if it goes on long enough.

I had another thought for an option on the water would be a transport ship or barge with cargo containers, which may or may not have had lots of supplies.

I'm still up for the yacht idea, but yachts also have drawbacks unless they're a sailing yacht.

I had a suggestion of an asylum come up from a friend.

Merits:
Most people avoid.
Would not have been used for disaster relief.
Designed to provide security and protection
Plenty of food stores
Likely to have backup power
Infirmary, medication, sanitation, some recreation facilities
Usually good sight lines, decent kill zone, sturdy construction, good positioning for rooftop coverage.

Flaws:
funnels, tight spaces
designed to prevent egress/escape/evasion
not self-sustained or contained
no permanent off-grid solutions
may still have patients to take care of/watch out for
May have former patient and faculty walkers within the facility and may take a while to fully clear.

Thoughts?

It could be interesting, but if I remember correctly there were six nuthouses in Florida, with only one in Miami: South Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.
The place has around 1,300 nut jobs... Take it or leave it.

Edit: Been in one myself, not in USA of course... Latvia, my home country. Still, the people in those places aren't really nice.
Edit 2: By 1,300 nut jobs I mean - 9/10 undead walkers, 1/10 mentaly f*cked people.

Any non undead nutjobs are probably violent psychos... not somebody you want mobbing about in the place. The Redland facility is huge. The photo is broken, but the image link still works from the raw version of the post.

Back to ma boat... Jennay *Forrest Gump*

Yes, I believe we still have room for a couple more, "Lumini.

As I mentioned, I was sent to a Mental hospital for a week to make some checks. I believed I was a psycho, but thiese folks gave me hope. Barelly lasted a day there, signed up for ambulatious treatment.
The photo works fine for me. Redland is just the construction company who made the facility, they just had the best picture.
The more I think about it a yacht seems like bad news, but can't think of anything else. Maybe a church, for the irony.

More I think about the yacht/ liner/ container ship the more I like it, if for no other reason than it's more unique to the setting than some of the other suggestions. Holing up in an asylum or church could be done in Seattle, Kansas City, or Boston. If we're set on Miami, we ought to have a distinctly Miami flair to it. Just a thought.

Well then, we better choose a yacht... Which model do you want? 5 dollars says none of you guys have an idea... I am just going to look for some of the best models I can find.

Edit: Who the heck is going to be the capitan of this vessel anyway?

Why not just look at a few listings of yachts?

Now thats logical thinking! Hmm... Yeah, sounds like a plan. I will look throught some of them.
What about the crew, we could make them NPC's.

Edit: I found what I think a good boat for us. Please, respect my opinion.

It is called Ritaki: It is 33 meters long (108 feet), It has room for 6 guests (WILL be modified) and 7 crew member (we will cut the number). It's maximum speed is 12 knots (21 Km/h). This is how it looks.

The blueprint:

I will personaly modify the blueprint, if you accept this yacht. It shall have most of the things a modern survivor needs. I will be offline for 8 hours, my idea is that everybody posts their ideas: what they want in their yacht and I will squize the ideas in. I belive the number of it's minimum capacity will have to be 21 survivors (both crew and others)

Looks good to me. I don't think we really need to modify the blueprint, even, I'm sure in a time of crisis people will take bunkmates if it means a safe place to stay.

Well..... With the influx of interests, maybe we could split up into two groups? Just a thought that I'm probably going to regret later. But one team in the asylum and the other on the yacht. They are both good with their pros and cons.

Actually, I did have an idea for a yacht, which was a trimaran, much faster at a top speed of 23 knots at best speed, 42.5 meters, with crew space for six, can run on half that, and up to 9 guests/passengers. I guess Koko decided not to share that information though.

Below is the main deck plan, an exterior shot, and one of the interior shots, and I can get more. It's a pretty forgiving design, stable on the water, long range, efficient.

Splitting up into two groups might be a good idea.

Well, just let me know. If there's no room for me, it's all good. This group thing sounds pretty interesting though
