Tom Stewart graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point in 1976. Immediately following West Point, he spent time with his professional development.

Misc: For the RP, Captain Stewart's Command will consist of the Company Headquarters section, 1st and 2nd platoons, 3rd platoon B Co. 2-66 AR and 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, D Co. 17th Engineers. The Company Team has eleven M113 Armored Personnel Carriers, four M60A3 Main Battle Tanks, two M151 Jeeps and one M35 two and a half ton truck. Attached units consist of a Fire Support Team (FIST) from the 4th Battalion 3rd Field Artillery (
M981 FISTV) and three line medics attached from the Battalion's Medical platoon. The Battalion will also provide one medical evacuation ambulance (M113 Armored Medical Evacuation Vehicle - AMEV) and an M578 Vehicle, Track Recovery (VTR).
Mechanized Infantry Company
Mechanized Infantry formations are used with armor formations. They work together. They can move quickly over long distances and carry a lot of firepower. Where light forces are best in congested terrain, the heavy formations are best when used in open terrain. The Mechanized Infantry can deploy its Infantry when necessary to fight in built up areas.
This organization is tailored to the current operation. The 3rd Platoon, B Company, 3-41 IN is currently attached to the 2-66 AR. The Mechanized Infantry Company has 14 M113 Armored Personnel Carriers. 12 of these vehicles are in the Rifle Platoons and 2 are with the Company Headquarters. The Company First Sergeant and the Company Commander each have an M151 Jeep. The Unit Supply Sergeant has a 2-1/2 Ton truck with trailer for logistical support.

Track Commander – when not occupied by a Platoon leader, platoon sergeant or squad leader, a Sergeant who holds the title of Track Commander is in command of the vehicle. Otherwise he is along for the ride.
Driver – Private First Class
Each vehicle carries 6 Infantry soldiers as listed below with the Dismount element. When the Platoon leader, Platoon Sergeant and Section Sergeants are on their vehicles, they assume the role of Track Commander. When the dismounts exit their vehicle for a dismounted Infantry mission, then the sergeant Track Commander assumes responsibility and control of the APC.
