And I do remember a 15,000 (and change) tons number being in the old ratings somewhere, but I can't remember which tier that was. I'm pretty sure there was also a 150,000 ton number...

I mean, I originially had Maxwell at 500 tons, and Skallagrim said that was too high, so I don't really know how the limits are supposed to work, because 100 tons for a high tier is pretty freaking low, in my opinion. I'd love to be able to un nerf him. Maxwell was meant to be a physical monster, and while he's still plenty strong, he doesn't have the sheer might in here that I planned on. Would it be super shitty to see if we could increase some of the limits on characters here, and to edit our own characters to fit?

100 tons max for a high-tier? Magneto would curbstomp any 100 tonner that tried to take him down mano y mano, and he's supposed to be an example of what high-tiers are like.

I'm all for un-nerfing high tier characters who focus on physical abilities. I mean, look at the non-physical abilities that the high-tier characters have. It's like Green said, any high-tier should be able to demolish a city, and if not that, then go toe-to-toe with someone who can. With that in mind, even 500 tons seems pretty low.

Sometimes the RP is full of people complaining about how fights are too short, and that we're all about writing.
Other times the RP is full of people complaining about how it isn't simple enough to rip apart continents.

I mean really, can we reach a consensus here on whether we're going to be massacring eachother or playing a complex and story driven arena. Because this is really starting to get confusing.

That's why there's three tier levels to choose from. Low will give you characters who engage in more traditional combat, swordfights and gunslinging and the testing of strategies. Intermediate will give you some of that, with some of the benefits of epic-level powers to play around with as well. High will give you purely epic-level powers and the destruction of entire cities in a single fight.

But a high-tier fight could easily have a better story behind it that a low tier fight, or vice versa. Power levels have nothing to do with the quality of the writing, only with what kind of writing you want it to be.

I agree that a high tier should at minimum be able to rip a city apart. Because the high tiers based on powers are right now far stronger than punchy high tiers. So I think we should try and come to a consensus on good limits and run them by Rilla or Skalla when he gets back. And then if they change, edit the characters who should be fairly edited.

Yeah... As things are now, I'm pretty sure Captain Freedom is more powerful than a purely punchy high-tier.

Maybe if we do get to un-nerf the brawn-based high-tiers, I can give you an opponent to slug it out with.

Not only can he lift the max allowed, but he can get even more powerful by absorbing the energy of his enemies. Green's mech could just step on them. Beta's armor spell could duke it out toe to toe, and even without it she can do half a hundred other nasty things to them before they even get in range.

How many active high tier characters are there right now? And how many would actually need adjusting if brawn-based characters are brought up to their level?

I think it would really only affect the gaps between tiers. It would better define the boundaries. A low would still be low, who gets beat by intermediate, and now highs are very clearly high tier. I estimate that it'd be totally doable.

I found the tier ratings from the old multiverse. The max strength for a level 8 (high-tier here, since I think 9 is supposed to be off limits) was 15,120 tons. For level 9 it was 151,200 tons. Which seems really low for someone who's supposed to be one short step below godhood...
