Hey guys, so El_Tigre has promoted me to co-GM, and I would like to make an important announcement regarding currency so you can get an idea of how it works. Feel free to change your inventory to accommodate for things like an oxygen tank, but again, please explain in detail how one would have run across something rare/expensive. The biggest addition to your inventory would be an oxygen tank. You're going to need one for traveling unless your character doesn't need oxygen.

  • Copper = 1 Krell

  • Silver= 10 Krell

  • Gold = 50 Krell

  • Platinum = 100 Krell

  • Adranium = 500 Krell

  • It's made this way so you can purchase things that have no material requirement (such as a luxury hotel) without having an Adranium coin.
  • Copper, silver, and gold are the most common forms of payment, and most jobs only pay in these forms.

  • Raw Adranium can only be found in radation zones, but due to the dangerous creatures and high radiation levels, it is unwise to spend too much time trying to mine raw adranium.

  • One ounce of raw adranium can be turned into 5 adranium coins.

  • Difficult or rare jobs and the occasional odd ones offer platinum coins, and the most difficult ones offer adranium.

  • You can use your own discretion when deciding how much payment is received for a specific job, but please use sound judgment or ask in OOC first if you're not sure. For example, you can't expect to be paid 500 Krell for protecting a merchant caravan carrying common goods for a day's journey. Such a job would most likely be a tenth of that.

  • The average hunter will make 1-3 Krell for every pound of meat depending on the type of meat they harvest. There can be rare types of meat, but a pound of meat should never have to cost anyone a platinum or adranium krell.
  • .
  • Food, water and drink usually go for a few krell. However, more luxurious things will be more expensive.

  • The standard price for a cheap hotel (and by cheap, I mean a bed and a roof over your head) is 10 krell. More lavish hotels are available, but can be costly depending on where you are.

  • A day's worth of oxygen costs 50 krell and can be purchased at eco-generators. You obviously need an oxygen tank, but luckily, science has made smaller portable oxygen tanks. The average oxygen tank can hold as much as three days worth of oxygen, costs 10 krell, but is heavy and bulky. You can purchase different, more expensive tanks that hold more oxygen, are more durable, are smaller and lighter. Pre-filled oxygen tanks can be bought and sold as well.

  • Armor and weapons vary depending on the rarity, strength, and attributes and may require platinum and adranium krell for more powerful weapons. This includes biohazard suits. A simple biohazard suit is probably not enough to protect you from the monsters that lurk in the radiation zones, so be prepared to pay a hefty price if your character can't withstand radiation. Please use sound judgment when naming your price, and if you're unsure, please ask in OOC.

  • A box of standard FMJ bullets would cost 500 krell for a box of 6 rounds. Though individually they would cost 100 krell. Other bullets will vary in price and may only come individually, such as ammo for sniper rifles, shotgun shells or high caliber bullets. Please use sound judgment when naming your price, and if you're unsure, please ask in OOC.

  • Technology varies depending on its rarity, but the high end hardware can only be bought with platinum and adranium. Please use sound judgment when naming your price, and if you're unsure, please ask in OOC.

  • Powerful Inscriptionists only accept Adranium, but some basic runes can be purchased with platinum or a lot of gold. Please use sound judgment when naming your price, and if you're unsure, please ask in OOC.

First post made. I decided to use an introduction through Ballos rather than Virgil as Virgil's story is more personal.
You can choose to start off either already arriving in M'alo, or just now hearing of the news and heading up there. It's up to you, but I feel like there is enough intrigue for all the characters to want to join. After all, Adranium is hard to come by.

    HUGE EDIT.

Reread the last paragraph if you started reading the first post shortly after this post was made. I added something that I thought was kind of important.

Also, if you decide to add an oxygen tank in your inventory, just add it to your CS and make a new post explaining what it's like and, if necessary, how you got it.

    For Ella
~ A Daedalus brand travel pack with a detachable micro oxygen tank that can carry up to a week's worth of oxygen. Other contents include food rations, a tiny collapsable camouflage tent, and a photograph of her adoptive parents, Marcus and Amelia Daedalus.

I want to note that her adoptive parents run an oxygen company that sells both oxygen and oxygen tanks. The Daedalus brand is quite popular and has decent oxygen tanks that sell at a reasonable price and can be bought anywhere. The one she carries is a deluxe version, but the standard version can be bought with the capacity to hold 3 days worth, but is not attached to a travel pack and only costs 40 krell, so if you're too lazy to make up a back story for a decent, lightweight oxygen tank, you can just say that your character has that.

Not much of an intro from me, but I just wanted my character in the scene so to say. One everyone else has introduced themselves, I plan on rocking up to the tavern late.

Sounds good Vale. It's short, but quite informative of your character's rage and brute strength.
NewSun, I'm glad the money was enough to get Aaron to join. It is quite a lot of money indeed. Aaron, however, may not find it so easy to defend against these assailants without killing them, and I'm going to add a little something about one of the bandits that might interest him even more down the road.

I'm aware it may well come down to violence, but hey! He doesn't know that yet ;)

Anyone have any architectural experience? Trying to describe a venetian style mansion mixed with current elements, but I'm having a hard time describing it.

Ahaha, Okay, so the Daedalus family is one of the wealthiest families in Oden. They trace their wealth far before the eco-generators, but their wealth basically exploded when they invested in them.

I'm trying to conceptualize a mansion for the Daedalus house as that is where Virgil's story starts. To put some things in perspective - the house has been rebuilt from the original with the addition of a few tiny things. The Daedalus family has managed to get around the rule of not cutting trees down by simply moving them (digging whole chunks of the earth out to get the roots as well) where they needed. The house also sits next to a river that runs throughout the northwestern part of the region, and it runs through the city of Oden. The Daedalus property is a few thousand acres of land, mostly covered in forests apart from the roadway that leads into the house, and the outer terrace that opens up to the lake.

As I mentioned in Virgil's CS, he's a collector of antiques, and he really enjoys this sort of architecture, so I'm trying to go into fine detail about it, but at the same time I'm trying not to go too overboard. I think I've found a different way around it, though, so as to spare everyone the details.

I usually make an outline before I write down everything so I can tweak things more easily, and I just realized that I have two pages on standard word format of just my draft alone, plus another page of just outlines, and I'm trying to trim away at everything that is not important, but it's getting difficult. I guess I have to kill some of my darlings...

    TL:DR Welcome to advanced RP.

    ALSO, WHERE IS EVERYONE ELSE?

Kage, I agree. It is entirely possible for such old families to be well renowned in the whole region. As NewSun mentioned, the O'Nidas family also came into wealth because of the eco-generators, so those three families could in fact know each other - although not as intimately. I'll put this out there that anyone with a wealthy background will be aware of the miracle child born out of a sculpture named Elizabeth Daedalus. It is also possible that at one point, her original sculpture was in the hands of one of those families. It would be rather interesting for an x year old Ella to know an x year old Noah, or even owned by the O'Nidas family when Aaron was still fully human. Ella was raised in an already exclusive group where her special circumstances her even more unique, and families that once "owned" her sculpture would definitely know about her. On the other hand, Ella didn't really pay much attention to the wealthy or royal. Feel free to incorporate it into your backstories if you think it would add to the story.

With that being said, she has been treated as a prized possession even before becoming sentient again, and because of her natural charm ability, attention and special treatment is something she has just grown accustomed to. She's stayed under the radar by calling herself Ella and staying away from high society, but she is nonetheless fairly noticeable even in a crowd of thousands, and it wouldn't be surprising for an O'Nidas or a Lucas to recognize her.

That aside, it wouldn't be all that surprising for Virgil to know such wealthy families as well, but he has a knack for erasing his existence from the history books. He also doesn't find a point in remembering the names of families he has toyed with. Such families get swallowed by the drama he cleverly constructs up from their insecurities to even remember Virgil. Those who do remember him don't even realize just how much of an impact he had on their family's circumstances. Virgil pulls strings from the shadows. He is by no means a main character, and he is also too apathetic to be a villain. Without an external force driving him, he wouldn't even have a purpose at all, and he would be useless to the story without Ella.

Anyway, I was away from the computer all day, but I will be writing again after this and will hopefully finish Virgil's introduction before the last participant realizes that the story has already started.
