I have mixed feeling about FFX-2. On the one hand; I love the dresspheres, they are (to this day) my favorite version of the job system in the final fantasy series (the special dresspheres really sold me on it). I loved how it gave a happy ending to the story of X...but I hate how it changed the battle system to ATB, the kind most final fantasy games used. I loved the battle system of X. Like the job system of its sequel, this battle system is my all time favorite of all the different ones used in the final fantasy series.

my concern was more for her ideas. More often than not I can come up with a second idea fairly easily. so I was willing to bend

I'd say take whatever you want, just don't make it OP (for example: You can't have the Tri-Force of Courage or anything like that unless you play Link himself)

applying now, would the ability to spawn tiny versions of armies be fine? If not that then i'd go for Psy powers, I'm using the Sid Meier universe btw.

The triforce of courage alone doesn't really do much. At least not until super dramatic moments anyway.

I'm going to be Link. I thought of taking another character but link is to badass. My current decision is what type fo sword to take. I could just stick with orcarina of time and which works with me, and take the master sword. Or get the goddess sword and have some fun powering it up through the game.

(I am assuming throughout the game we'll level up or find "upgrades" to help us fight the bosses. Am I wrong in that assumption?)

That's the idea. For example: my guy will probably get a new power-up for his Mega Buster after they beat a new boss. That's the same idea I want everybody to get: they upgrade themselves each time we progress through the story until we reach the final boss.

Background: A good story and meaningful challenges. That's what Draws Alex into a game. He could play the same game over and over again if the story line is gripping enough and the game makes the effort to both make sense, and focus on the little details. Outside of Gamerland he is quick to lend a hand, his parents raised him never to be rude to a lady. So he makes the effort around girls to be extra polite knowing the dissaproval he would get from his parents(dad in particular) if word ever got back he swore or worse in front of a woman. This is not to say he is the same around the guys. For the boys that know him well he is willing to say exactly what is on his mind, no subtle if's and's or but's. Some think him rude because of this and he shrugs in response. Those that are his friends are long accustomed to this trait.
Upon hearing of the Mass gaming binge scheduled for one weekend, well he just couldn't resist that, Not for a moment. So he packed his most prized possession, a nintendo 64 and a box of games that filled his backpack. Proudly displaying it along when he walked through the door. It was going to be a fun night.
Other: Rpg's, in particualr fantasy esque are his all time favourite games. But he is known to enjoy megaman and Metroid for hours and hours on end. “By every god and their mother.” is a common saying when surprised, A threat when angry or really just whenever he is confused. His favourite game character is a hard tie. But link definatly takes the cake with his classic take on the couragious hero.

Game Background: Links background varies from game to game. I'm going with the Traditional Orcarina of Time background story. Which seems to be what most games backstories are based of anyway. With using Skywards swords explanation into the forging of the Mastersword. Which I think is what is considered Canon now anyway.
