Voice:
-
Bringing you your blackout in 3, 2, 1.-
Can I hack that? Are you kidding me? What CAN'T I hack?-
Now I think it is ENTIRELY possible that we MAY have a problem here.Personality:
-Usually quite friendly, but is quite cocky when it comes to his areas of expertise. Take's his skills seriously and is very respectful to anyone who can best him in these areas.
-Prefers silence to open conversation, but if he does speak, he usually has too much to say. Has a tendency to talk to himself during intense hacking/counterhacking sessions and comment on the systems. He does this partially because his PDE can record audio if he so wishes, and partially because it helps keep him focused.
-Can be an airhead when it comes to day-to-day activities. Prefers the action to the monotony of regular existence, but would never do anything to expose himself.
-Fiercely defensive of his teammates, and takes it personally when anyone he cares about is harmed. Sometimes almost to the point of endangering himself witlessly.
Aaron Grew up without a true home. All he knew was that he was born in some backwater hospital in some southern Arizona town. Moving from orphanage to orphanage, there seemed to be a distinct lack of couples wanting to adopt a kid like him. Wherever he went he watched other children go off to live with good families, but for some reason he was never picked. Over the course of this haphazard childhood, he was sent to many different schools in many different places. He was bullied throughout his childhood because of his relatively small stature, and was often outcasted because he never seemed to be into the same things as the other kids. He preferred to tinker with whatever electronics he could find. In a world that was growing more tech-engrossed every day, a child with skills like his was quite an asset. Aaron often got in trouble for tinkering with the school electronics. One time he downloaded the entirety of a school's grading database onto one a flash drive. His excuse was “I wanted to see if I could do it.” His behavior got him kicked out of more than a couple schools, and orphanages. He was seen as a troubled child, and was often referred to counselors because of his behavior.
The truth however was that he was just more interested in technology than he was in the future the homes were pushing him towards. His 'acting out' had no outlet, and thus caused more trouble than good. Just after he turned 12 in 2016, he was moved to another orphanage in Jacksonville Florida. After repeated attempts to 'get him back on track' by counselors in that home, the head of the orphanage requested specialized help from the DDR (The Department of Developmental Research), who sent a representative to observe his behavior. After nearly two months of observation, the DDR representative declared Aaron a viable research subject for his enhanced ability to work with/splice/develop/deconstruct technology. Eager to be rid of him, the head of the home consented and sent Aaron off to a research facility in Seattle, where he treated like a gifted child. The other children accepted him and were surprised by his talents just as much as he was by theirs. After two years of extensive research and developmental care, Aaron's abilities had skyrocketed. With an outlet on which to apply his skills, he became phenomenally skilled with all things electronic. Hardware and software were child's play to him, so when he expressed his interest to help with research and development,he was accepted almost immediately. At age 15 in 2019, he was inducted into the technical R and D division of RDD, where he worked on building nanotech devices until 2022.
Between the ages of 15 and 18 he headed many developments such as the cyberlens, a nanotech contact lens that could transmit visual data by picking up light wavelengths and running them through photo-optic filters, which gathered the spectral information and processed it into a form that the human brain could decipher. It could also be used to playback video that had been previously captured and display a variety of visual outputs (thermal, nightvision, etc.).
Aaron thought he could build upon this achievement by allowing the lens to complement his skills. He thought that by somehow linking the lens to the brain, it could be used to interface with surrounding technology and pick up things such as security camera feeds and audio logs. But when he went to the division supervisor with the idea, it was shot down for humanitarian reasons. In the US the linking of biological and artificial systems was a very touchy subject. Although the skepticism was beginning to dissipate, the idea was dismissed because it had bad publicity written all over it. Angered by the denial, Aaron began development of the device himself. Recruiting like-minded researchers from the tech and neurological divisions, a secret project was started under the title “Ouroboros”. Over the next year, the interface was secretly developed, and a resilient microchip was developed that wirelessly read the chemical impulses of the brain and transmit them to the nanolens, which in turn could transmit those impulses to surrounding technology as information. Aaron offered to be the first one to undergo the procedure of implantation, and the Ouroboros chip was implanted behind his right ear, along with a nanospeaker, which was inserted into the back of his inner ear so he could receive audio input. With it he could interface with surrounding technology, and pick up feeds from security terminals and audio inputs from any system without security and also access internet databases via a connectivity module in the chip.
Before he could spring the monumental project on the supervisor of the division, the project was forcibly shut down by the Us government. One of the researchers under Aaron gave just enough warning for him to use the new chip to wipe the research from the facility's systems. When the gov't officials came to confiscate the research and could not find any, they took Aaron's team into custody. Aaron would have gone too, but RRD threatened to press charges upon intrusion of their research division without the necessary authorization. He never saw his team again. When the gov't was contacted about their whereabouts, they were unaware of any search of the RRD premise.
Aaron was angered severely at the loss of his colleagues and friends. After months of trying to crack into the gov't database, he finally succeeded at recovering the records of RRD, where he was surprised to find nothing about a search. Now knowing that the gov't was telling the truth, he began to search elsewhere for answers. After uncovering only the name “Milites Fabula”, Aaron's home was broken into and he was abducted by agents of the CIA who had found out about his intrusion into the government database. He was heavily interrogated about his reasons for the intrusion, and simply old the truth that he was trying to find out what had happened to his colleagues. After some more torture, the agents locked him a cell until the dawn of 2024, when an agent from a UN came and offered to wipe away his transgressions if he agreed to join the task force. He went through year of training, where he specialized in physical and electronic infiltration, and worked as a sleeper agent for nearly 6 years before the blackout hit.
Civilian Specialisation/Job: Technical specialist (hacker/inventor). Currently works at a computer store as a tech consultant as a cover.
Combat Specialisation: Covert infiltration and data retrieval. Also proficient with silenced and bladed weapons (throwing/melee) Can work well on his own but shines when supporting other teammates through system hacking/override.
Weapons and ammo:
-Complement of throwing knives (6 usually on hand)
-Ps-26 “flute” 10mm pistol. Can be outfitted with laser sight and silencer. Holds 12 rounds, 4 extra mags available on person.
-Flash or gas grenades when available/needed
Equipment:
-emp pulsators (x3): these can be attached to any surface and can either be immediately detonated or set on a timed detonation. The one's in Shocks arsenal can also be detonated via his nanolens. When detonated, a respectable sized EMP is generated, knocking down all power within a city block for 2 hours. (this also effects his seraph, so he tends to use that more often)
-Augmented reality system (nanolens, in Shock's case)
-Bivi bag. An enclosed, waterproof sleeping bag designed for sleeping outdoors unsheltered. This one comes with a second removable layer of insulation to allow adaptability to different climates. When the bag is closed an integrated mini-tent at head level provides some headroom.
-Coms set/camera.: In Shock's case, the Ouroboros chip handles comm communication, and his nanolens is capable of camera capabilities.
-Customized rucksack.
-Fixed bladed utility knife and sheath.
-Rations. Enough food to last four days used sparingly. [/hider]
Gadgets:
-
this allows him to interface with surrounding technology IE: security feeds, computers, audio systems. The chip itself is resilient to EMP devices.
-
A personalized and enhanced AR system that also allows him to interface much more quickly with computers without the use of hands. Also has a variety of visual modes (night vision, thermal, etc.)
-
(Responsive Artificial Interface Enhancer) Otherwise referred to as “Ray”. This is an artifical Intelligence program developed by Shock, which runs within the confines of the UV powered Ouroboros chip. This AI assists him with hacking into systems, and can even be instructed to hack into systems itself when he is otherwise occupied, although at reduced efficiency.
-
This is a handheld “detonator-like” device that can also interface with the Ouroboros chip. Also developed by Shock, this device can be used to overload targeted systems, effectively shutting down power or hardwired security systems in a localized area. Requires 30 minutes to recharge.
