Archetype: Vigilante

Name: Jennifer 'Jen' Winters

Alias: Dissonance

Age: 25

Powers: Force - Jen generates a field of force from her hands. She cannot stop this without the use of her gloves. Her gloves allow her to control her powers, being able to shut them off completely, fire out a shot of force (effective range of 10 m), or use it to enhance her punches. This sometimes gives the illusion of super strength, but this is not the case. She won't lift a car, but she can punch one quite far.
Resistance - Jen is quite resilient, partly due to the training and fighting she's been through, and partly because the same genes that cause her powers also boost her natural resistance, allowing her to take harder punches and fight for longer. The effects of this are not too strong, but she can stay standing longer than most.

Weaknesses: Range - Outside her range of 10 m, Jen is useless. She has no ranged weapons whatsoever.

Mental attacks - Though Jen's outer shell is strong, the horrors she has seen and commited mean that she is fragile on the inside, leaving her extremely vulnerable to mental attacks of any kind.

Alignment: Hero... barely

Personality: Determined - Cold - Ruthless - Dispassionate - Broken

She usually just wears a pair of grey combat trousers and a grey sports tshirt when she fights crime.

BRIEF Bio: Jen led a quiet life for her first 18 years. When she left school, instead of attending university, she joined up with the armed forces, determined to do good in the world. After a year of service, she was assigned to a special operations division, the SAS. She carried out missions for several years, seeing things that would make normal people break down and go insane. This led to her becoming withdrawn, often appearing emotionless to deal with what she had seen. After a particularly brutal mission, Jen was honourably discharged due to mental health concerns. This shift in her life awakened something in Jen's genes, giving her current powers. Still determined to do good, she set out on a one man war against crime, trusting no one but herself.

Storylines: Nothing in particular, though I would like to see some reluctant team ups, maybe getting her to open up a little. I would also be interested to see her go up against a psychic at some point, and lose.

Notes: Her mother is Scottish, and her father is English. She was raised in Guilford. She has inherited her mother's strong liver. She is an expert at hand to hand combat, even without her powers.

I don't think "Walking the Line" means "Vigilante." I figured that if your character is willing to kill people, then they're walking the line. And that if your character isn't a killer, and they're good, then they're basically just, "Hero." So, with so many willing to have their characters kill in the name of "good," it's not that there are so many vigilantes because my character is actually affiliated with the wannabe SHIELD organization in this game. It's just there's a gray area between good and evil and it has a "gradient" called personal perspective.

Yeah, finding the amount of morally grey not to be to my taste either. If I knew we had so many at the time I wouldn't have signed up.

I'm going to throw Rogue on the backburner and make a more paragon leaning character. The Vigilante Archetype is opened up, in that case.

Okay, so I've rewritten portions of Gunrat's origin story, to better accommodate. I've also made her older, and fleshed out her powers a bit more, so she'll hopefully stand up better against proper superheroes.

I'm playing a full on hero to balance out all this grey, but ya know, lantern doesn't want anything above a c list hero.

I mean, if your problem with say, ironman, is how gadgets and tech as a whole let you mimic crappy superpowers which leads to a long power list, thats sorta what you can do irl anyway.

...Actually tempted to rise up to Archmage's challenge and make them an A-lister, buuut not sure how good an idea that is. ^^; Still need to gather some ideas together, which is more difficult than usual since I've lost all of my old work but oh well, we'll see how this goes.
