I don't see anything wrong with reusing the same settings and groups, although if you have something in mind then by all means go ahead and use it. Sometimes a small change for a reboot isn't a bad idea.

As far as the storyline goes, I say you keep it more or less the same since it was never completed. That's just my opinion though.

The only thing I have to say about the two different settings would be to help the two join together with a bit less effort I guess?

I guess I mean we need a real solid reason why these otherwise random people need to work together before shit gets bad, or let shit get really fucking bad before they do meet forcing them to meet up. Then give them a common goal beyond survival.
