So, an idea I had for a Final Fantasy-style RP, set in an overly-massive academy. Said academy being the best place to learn how to become a white mage, monk, thief, pretty much every job class Final Fantasy's known for. It's not exactly going to be plot-heavy, and focus more on character interaction and silliness. We can work more on certain details in the OOC, but for now, think less 'White Mage knows Cure', and more... 'White Mage knows Cure, but is much better at pounding flans with a massive hammer'.

I'm looking to make this pretty free-form, and a mix of slice-of-life, action and comedy. The setting would be more akin to I-VI. So less gunblades, and more... normal swords that occasionally inflict elemental damage, I suppose. I can provide more details as necessary, if one has any questions.

So, uh... yeah. Final Fantasy.

Righty-ho, so here's some idea of what to expect.

• Job classes... kind of. You might officially be a Blue Mage or a Thief, but no one said you had to conform strictly to their usual depictions. Maybe you're a Blue Mage that's too weak to learn any worthwhile abilities? Perhaps your method of thievery involves informing your target of the intended time of robbery. Or your Black Mage is a subtle Black Mage expy.
• Assignments. And not just the boring written stuff. Students who feel up to the task can take part in hunting various monsters for rewards. Nothing like field experience to fuel your studies! And to the owner of Carrot the Malboro, keep the damn thing on a leash, the rewards are starting to diminish with the amount of students that thing breathed on.
• Wacky Hijinks and stuff. Expect highly-mismatched parties, overblown drama about the struggles of learning how to sword things, and deep, rich backstory on those four crystals that I'm sure will come into play eventually. Perhaps. Probably not.
• Though if people want something resembling a grander plot, we can certainly work on that. For now, let's focus on establishing ourselves and all that fun stuff.

How much is taken out of Final Fantasy? What races can we expect to play? Can I have a lalafell mage?

The setting is inspired more by the first six games, and would contain the usual FF staples. As for races, humans and moogles are definitely in, but I'm still undecided on allowing every race to feature in a Fantasy game. There'd probably be an odd clash to let in Elves, Bangaa and Burmecians in, but we can leave that to a group vote.
