@AdobeFlash Maybe getting vampires to experiment on has been a problem for the field.

@Wraithblade6Well that is the point of this. It is based on the idea that the world of magic is studied as a science. While I don't need everyone going and explaining the chemical reactions that allow you to make teleporting shotgun rounds. It is the idea that at the core people know how it works and that science and magic aren't separate.

@Witch Cat Personally, I prefer sterile vampires. They are "Dead" after all.

WHICH PERFECTLY GOES HAND IN HAND WITH MY IDEA.

Due to extreme regeneration, Atlas could systematically cut off limbs to experiment on. But I would imagine the difficulty of getting a vampire corpse that wasnt turned to ash

what if, say, the gene was rare and recessive. and if you had the gene buried in your DNA and was bit, would the gene activate? Because if not I would have to rewrite my backstory. Darn.

@Witch Cat Thanks for the effort, but I really don't like it. First, i feel like making this legend about Lilith is misogynistic. You could probably equally develop a myth starting from Kain. Secondly, how can you have "alive" vampires? You can't make life if you are dead... then you also get the problems with half breeds and quarter breeds, and eventually vampires get bred into non-existence. Lastly, it's just not right to be both immortal AND be able to have a family. That causes population problems.... and I don't like having two specific kinds of vampires either. :P

But that's just my opinion.

If we are going to get science-y about it, I say we throw in a handful of demons 'n' stuff to spice it up! For example;
Mitochondria is the power house of the cell BECAUSE THE ESSENCE OF GODS RUN THROUGH IT!

See? Easy!

@Wraithblade6 But that is the actual Lilith myth. She was the first sinner and was cast out of eden. That is the ACTUAL myth. The way of making more vampires is original.

Yes I agree we should presume that the characters have logical reasonings for why things work as they do, vague as it is in many cases. I more like the "vampirism is a disease" thing.

I hate to bring in preexisting properties, but this sorta reminds me of JJBA, with the talk of a family of immortals. In the show, a really long time ago, a bunch of superpowerful beings roamed the Earth, think vampires+. They needed to feed, but they were careful not to overbreed due to immortality and food availability. Then this fucko Kars gets born, thinks: Man, look at this mask im so cool and more powerful n shit. But, he needed much more food. Like a lot more. The rest of this society tries to kill him because he and his rebel friends will eventually wipe out all life on Earth. But due to his ability, he killed all his people.

Long story short, a family of vampires could lead to problems with feeding and population.

@Witch Cat I could easily see an infernal disease that was given to person in a bad pact. disease come from animals so this could have come from an infernal animal. It makes demons weaker, but it makes humans stronger with many bad side effects.

Well, depends. In some cases, the trait is just recessive. The bite won't affect the target at all, and will just turn them into a minion. However, if the trait is co-dominant(The carrier will get some vampire benefits, but this mostly is just living for a few extra years), the bite will "shock" the trait into overriding the other, which makes the trait dominant and turns the target into a vampire. Due to this sudden change in your gene, many changes are noticed. Pale skin, high metabolism, etc.

@jasonwolf However you wish. It's your rp. But I am pretty certain there is a big Kain myth as well.

I just like the idea of hyper violent vampire cells, more than DNA shit. I think the disease thing is more plausible and flexible when it comes to the story.

@Wraithblade6 Kain is the first murderer. Able is the first martyr. I don't think there is a vampire related story to any of Kain's story. I'd have to read up more. I know more about Able than Kain.

@Witch Cat eh... changing the dna of every single cell in a body is a bit complicated. Every cell has to change EXACTLY the same, at the same sequence, same code, etc. I think we should go with disease. If you want to explain thralls, make it so that the body has to physically die, or maybe consume a certain amount of vampire blood, or get infected a certain number of times in order to go full vampire.

yes, this would make everyone happy, example

Strain 1-R: Better at channeling magic, less physical ability

Strain 3-Q: Can turn into a wolf

just ideas and examples, but it would make everybody happy.
