I'm sorry to say this...but I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop this RP...it was fun, but I have lost interest. I wish you the best of luck though. Goodbye.
Sorry for two of these announcements to come at once, but I'm going away on a looong trip soon enough, so even if I post now there won't be any point due to an extended absence on my part. I wish everyone the best. On the bright side, we now have 2 open spaces. I'm sorry for disappointing everyone, but I will not be able to keep up posting during the 5 week trip. I don't wish to be rude to my fellow RPers, and wish all of you the best of luck. My trip will start on the 10th, and at the rate things are going I would get about 2 posts up then have to go. Again, I'm sorry
Now as for everyone else, since we had two players drop (possibly the ones we were waiting on), we can continue on with the game. :D Leonidas is still waiting to be saved lol. Whichever character wants to be ballsy enough to make the first strike.
So a few questions here before I toss my hat in the ring.
- You mentioned a reasonable time limit for posting, but also that players could move past you after X days. I work a job where most of the time I'm out for 10 days on the road, working 12+ hour days, so it's likely 10-day stretches without posts will happen often with me. I don't want to keep getting brushed past.
That should be fine, as long as you let us know when you're vanishing, and let us know when you have returned. If 14 days go by, and I haven't heard anything from you, then I'll move the game along. If you can give me an estimated date when you should return, then that'll be easier to hold off until then when it comes to important scenes. Also, in the case of you're character being in an important scene, so as not to hold the game up, if you'll give me permission to NPC your character (not to role play whoever you are writing) for the sake of just moving them on with everyone else. I will say that after the arc we're in, then there will be a massive time-skip where the characters are adults, and the writers will submit new CSes to compensate for the time that has passed. The characters will be separated across the globe or some will be closer to others, and it'll be a bit sandboxy until characters gradually reunite. But I was just informing you of this.
- Are we only allowed more... well known historical figures? I don't mean well known as in only people who did great things, but well known as in knowledge of them is widespread (specifically widespread in the "Western World"). As opposed to more "locally" or "eastern" known heroes. (Say, Admiral Yi from Korea who almost singlehandedly prevented his country from falling to the Japanese, or Uesugi Kenshin from Sengoku Japan, said to be an avatar of Bishamonten, the Buddhist God of War). As a history lover there are tons of people I rarely see referenced or used.
You can play whoever you want as long as it's historical. You're not the first person who was interested in playing Asian heroes and legends. The character who wanted to play Yue Fei just hasn't submitted his CS yet @Nightwing95
- Uh, due to that last sentence, I may end up making more than one character at some point. If anything about multiple characters was stated I missed it in my reading of the OOC. Is this permitted?
At this time, players are only allowed one character until otherwise permitted.
First of all, this is not the first time this has happened. I apparently overlooked two people in the past because if you don't mention me in your posts, and everyone starts writing in the OOC, then I'll come on here and just look at the most immediate thing (75% I'm on my cell phone so it's limited vision and connection) and backtrack until I thought I've caught up lol. So I completely didn't see this post until you just now pointed it out to me and I apologize.
Now, you will find all of your questions answered in bold.
All looks good to me. Jobs tend to get finished whenever we finish them, but it should never be longer than 10 days and I'll always have at least a couple days off afterwards, so it should never be a grand issue.
I wasn't quite thinking of playing Asian figures, they just happened to be the two that came to mind off the top of my head. As for who I will play, well, I'll probably have them posted tonight. After I decide whether or not to gender-bend them to help out character demographics.
Jan Žižka, the Bohemian (Czech) general who fought during the Hussite wars. A follower of Jan Hus, he and his army defeated several crusades led by the Catholics, during which he innovated the use of small-arms gunpowder, artillery as a field weapon (instead of just used during sieges) and used wagons as mobile fortresses on the battlefield (effectively, turning them into medieval Tanks). He lost an eye early on in his life, and lost his second eye when he was an old man. He's one of the few commanders in the world to never lose a battle. That includes after being completely blind, by the way.
Jan "One Eyed" Žižka
Character Image Goes Here - Not applicable at this time
Age: 12
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Light Brown (Bald)
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 110Lbs
Physique: The definition of "big boned", it's clear with some better nutrition he'll grow to be a man of impressive, if not massive statue.
Complexion: Alpinoid
Immunities: Outright lies, minor trickery
Weaknesses: Stubborn Faith: while Žižka is fluid when it comes to decisions pertaining to the battlefield, when he has made up his mind regarding moral judgements he cannot be moved.
Titles & Feats:
Basic Personality: Jan Žižka was never a quiet boy, and his voice is already started to lower with puberty. As such, his bellowing laugh is one of the most well known sounds to his fellow slaves. Never one to turn down merriment, he gives off almost an aura of comfort, particularly to the younger slaves. Perhaps a leftover from being a father to his men in a past life. While he would prefer to live as a laborer, his prowess in battle was not looked over by Crassus, and he has survived fighting in the pits for years. At least, after being "convinced" to fight in the pits after a punishment that resulted in the loss of his eye.
Psychological/Social Issues: Extreme guilt rests on Jan's mind after being forced to kill his companions in the pits over the years. Even moreso though: betraying his morals so that he could survive. If ever freed, he's vowed to never betray his convictions again.
Appearance: "One Eyed" Žižka's most prominent feature should be fairly obvious by the name: his missing right eye. No other slaves were present for the incident, but beneath his crudely fashioned eyepatch burn scars can be seen. Other than this: he is fairly tall and well built for his age, although still a shadow of what he could be under better conditions. Numerous scars from battle cover his body under his clothing, even with his abilities injury was unavoidable in the pits.
Natural Abilities:
Divine Sight: After losing both eyes fighting for his faith in his previous life, Žižka can now see without them. This does not grant him improved vision, such as in low light conditions, but allows him to see normally whether his eyes are open, closed, missing, or blindfolded.
Unorthodox Tactics: Žižka has a knack for twisting or discarding traditional tactics in favor of new or unusual ones, often lending him an extra edge on the battlefield.
Power:
Inhuman Intuition: While mostly applicable on the field of battle, a lifetime of seeing through the feints, ambushes, and maneuvers of his enemies has given Žižka a sixth sense to deceptive ploys and tactics. He will not fall for them.
Companion:
Relations:
I figure he would be a mentor/rival to Leonidas, and acquainted,if not having a special relationship, with just about every slave. I didn't quite want to make him a pit fighter, seeing him as more of a commander than a warrior, but I also thought it was kinda unavoidable. And it didn't look like there were many filling that role, I will of course change it to anything you think would fit better. Also, regarding his powers, due to their somewhat general nature it's pretty hard for me to tell if they're too weak or too strong.
Also, I would have gender-bent him, but why rob the world of that facial hair?
Well when everything was slow I was considering having Arthur go down to try and save Leo but now that everyone else is down there I won't. If anyone is looking for a way in to post you can be in the slave quarters and say Arthur came in
I was waiting for those writers who said they were going to respond to that incident. If it is just Shaka and Robin, then I will get a response out this weekend. But I thought Buddy's character was going to join as well.
@Snagglepuss89Dude lol, you guys have to start "Mentioning" me. I do not see these CSes until you do. I only notice them when I scroll back through the OOC to check and make sure I didn't miss anyone, and that's once in a blue moon. So PLEASE start mentioning me when you submit CSes. I'll take a look at it now. This is the fourth time this has happened and no one is going to tell me when you post a CS, so you have to let me know.
@Snagglepuss89This CS is approved. His powers are good enough for starting out. There will be a time-skip in the future, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Well, seeing as I approved him, it seems like a given that he would go to Leonidas's aid along with Robin and Shaka, am I right? Beat down Gilles and Ivan, and rescue Leonidas?
@Snagglepuss89This game moves at a leisurely pace. If you're expecting a super-fast game, then this might not be the game for you. Those who enjoy the story, stick around. Those who don't, are free to leave. Thus is why I'm not too concerned about roll call. It hasn't been 14 days yet, which is when I would do a roll call normally.
@Holy SoldierRest assured, I'm fine with a slow paced RP. I was merely cautious about investing my time into something that may have gone south in between when my character was submitted and accepted is all. I'll work on my first post within the next couple days.
@Snagglepuss89All right; in the meantime, I'm going to go ahead and write a response to the Corpseater situation to move it into conclusion. We have other quests to accomplish and more character interactions to do. :)
