"Going somewhere?"
"Yeah, I need to go pick up something."
"Sure. Have fun." He stood up, seemingly annoyed by the news, and went into the bathroom.
"Whatever, nerd, I'll see you later," she chuckled and shut the door to her room behind her.
Once Juan was sure Ally had went to her room, he stepped out of his bedroom and slipped out of the door. He climbed down the flight of stairs and raced to his car in the parking lot shared with all of the other tenants. Once in his car, he pulled out his phone and dialed. "Mia, you need to get here right away." He didn't need to say more for her to understand.
"Okay, I'll be there," she said and hung up. She went out to the store, so Juan figured she would be back within ten minutes. The driver's seat reclined back and he took a few deep breaths in and out in an effort to relax. Hero work stressed him out since he was still new to it, only having been a hero for two months now. He wondered if he should tell Ally, but figured that wouldn't be good. The villains could try that tactic of getting to the heroes by going through friends and family. He reached into the backseat and grabbed a dufflebag, inside containing his and Mia's costumes. They had several pairs, one in his car, the rest in the apartment.
Mia finally arrived and found him in his car. She knocked on the window and he unlocked the passenger door. "Thanks," Mia said and hopped in. Juan drove away to the mall where you could park a car for days and no one would notice. His windows were pretty tinted, so Mia was able to change while in the car. When he parked in the back he too changed and they were able to hop out of the car and race to the bank where a hostage situation was going on.
By the time they got there, they were fairly winded, but ready to help. This didn't matter too much because the situation seemed to be over. The hostages were being taken out of the building. Juan, now officially The Protector, went up to a heroine who he saw placing another hero on a gurney. "Is there still anything we can help with?" he asked her, now recognizing her as Agent.
"You'd have to talk to the cops about that, but I wouldn't count on it," Agent said, not taking her eyes off of the unconscious Gadget. "The police don't tend to like heroes meddling unless it's something like this. They still need something to do or else heroes would take over their jobs."
"Yeah, I guess that's true," The Protector agreed. "It's funny, you sound like one of my friends."
"Really? That's cool," Agent chuckled. "I haven't seen you around, who are you?"
"Oh, I'm The Protector, I'm still new," he said and they shook hands.
"Yeah? I'm still new too, so I get it. Are you two partners?" Agent questioned, referring to Mia, who was now Hice.
"Yup, we're on a team called F.A.C. Well, we're the only two members," Hice explained with a smile. "Maybe you could join us one day?"
Agent gave a smile in return and nodded, "Yeah, that sounds like it could happen. I'm kind of testing the waters."
"We'll see each other another time then?" The Protector said. He was yelling at himself inside of his head for not being quick enough to stop the hostage situation, but was glad someone else got to it.
"Definitely," Agent said and returned her attention to Gadget. There was something familiar about the two, but she wasn't going to wrack her brain about it.
The Protector and Hice walked away from the scene when not even a few blocks down before they saw a store being robbed. The front glass was broken, but the alarms weren't going off. The Protector nodded at Hice and they hopped through the front window to see two women holding pistols and stealing the jewelry. Hice took a deep breath and blew at the woman standing to the right. Her legs began to freeze and cover over with ice. The Protector put a shield in front of Hice and himself and the woman shot. The shield shattered, but the bullet was stopped. A box formed around the woman while her partner started running. Hice ran after her while The Protector kept the first woman contained.
Hice raced as fast and hard as she could, and when she felt close enough, she blew out on the ground ahead of the thief, causing the road to become slick. The woman slipped and fell down. Hice got on top of her and put her hands behind her back. She knew it would be a while before the police would be available and hoped the few bags of groceries in the car didn't spoil.
(This is kind of badly written, but it's 3 in the morning so... XDD)
