T;DR Summary:
  • Using the provided template, please create a character sheet.
  • Please post only sheets in this tab.
  • Feel free to ask questions in the OOC tab.

Unit Structure/Battlemechs

Bravo Lance, 1st Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth (AFFC) Cadre Company
  • Command: ( Recommend a fast moving medium such as the Phoenix Hawk, upgraded variant like the PHX-1b which is the old Star League version and might well be field tested because of the re-discovered tech but it's ultimately up to you.)
  • Fire Support: Recommend medium mech.
  • Recon 1: (Locust, Raven,Jenner, Cicada, Hermes, Hermes II, Mercury , Mongoose, Wolfhound(as a heavy scout), Sentinel(also as a heavy scout) and Firefly are really good examples, but there are other mechs as well in the light to medium category. You are allowed to play around and have custom configurations -- because it's a unit that field tests prototypes.)
  • Recon 2: (As above)

Character Sheet

(Template Here)
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Branch of Service: Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces or Armed Forces of the Federated Suns; in any case, both states are part of the Federated Commonwealth.
Physical Description:
It's probably best to actually describe the character if you are going to rely on a picture, or you can
do without the picture if you like, but definitely describe.

Character History:
Explain how your character got there -- no 'the story will come out in RP' lines, please -- I want a feel for where your character is coming from. Social class, entrance into NAIS/Nagelring and so forth is useful information. Most Mechwarriors come from feudal families with a long association with warfare, but newcomers are not unknown, especially as these days, Great Houses own more and more of the mechs and grant them to the best pilot candidates.

Psychological Profile:
An idea of how the character thinks and so forth; should be linked to the history.

Skills:
Academic performance and any standout classes/training they've had. A feel for what sort of mechs they prefer, though odds are that the characters have limited time with Heavy and Assault class mechs; they've probably done a lot of simulation time with such, however.

Equipment:
List here; neurohelmet and cooling vest (mechwarriors strip down to shorts in the cockpit, most of the time) are assumed. Other equipment as you see fit. This is not a limiting list -- I will be happy to allow amendments as it carries on.

Battlemech
The most important item of equipment is separate; please list the type (such as TDR-9SE). Inner Sphere mechs that exist in 3050 only. Information on modifications is also appreciated. We will go into greater detail on the applications of helmet-mounted modules, networking capabilities and drones, etc, etc as well. (I have to update that from the old BT stuff. See the above list for ideas on which mechs to take.)

Name: Ansgar Staudinger
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Branch of Service: Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces
Physical Description:
Ansgar is a thin framed young man, standing just under 5'8" and barely under 150lbs, giving him an almost frail look. This is deceptive, he has the constitution for handling a BattleMech. When not in a BattleMech, he prefers to wear rather formal attire, thanks to family upbringing and not having worn anything else. He wears a dark navy blue jacket typically, under which is a white dress shirt, with a dark red tie with a small family jewel forming a choker where top of the tie would be. Under the jacket, he has a holster for a sidearm, usually carrying a means of self defense concealed beneath his dress jacket. He wears a well pressed pair of dress pants that are the same color as his jacket, while he wears a polished pair of black leather dress shoes. He wears his longer dirty blonde hair in a pony tail, without any sort of hat, and continues to choose to wear his glasses even though his vision was long since corrected.

Character History:
The Staudinger family has a long, century spanning history as what those that decried the family referred to as 'Crude, Jumped up Artillerymen', to which the family with happily agree with the Artillerymen bit, even jumped up one a good day. The Staudingers are, as a whole, typically skilled at long ranged combat, often times pioneering long range, even artillery level BattleMech tactics and are disliked by those that prefer an up close fight or shy away from scorched earth. Ansgar, the first born son of the latest generation of the Staudinger house, was highly groomed for the expectation of carrying on their proud tradition of long range, precision BattleMech piloting. And as soon as he was of age, traditionally for his family at the standard 18 years of age, Ansgar would join the LCAF and attend the prestigious Nagelring military academy for a full four years. The split between noble and commoner was felt harshly here, something Ansgar, oddly, hardly noticed do to his high birth.

Unsurprisingly, he excelled in long to mid range BattleMech operations, but his close range operations in light Mech's was surprisingly lacking, although he had this bad habit of literally leaping into larger Mech's he couldn't readily damage in simulations, and engaging in otherwise suicidal actions when he couldn't conventionally damage the enemies, especially in spite of damage suffered to his own Mech, showing a defiance to traditional lose/lose scenarios. He had his uncle to blame for this mentality, since the man had largely raised and trained the boy prior to the academy, and the man had suffered disgrace at the hands of incompetent officers who prematurely surrendered. As such, while his determination and the damage done to the simulated enemies was well regarded, the cost to friendly forces was usually above average as well, showing a penchant for taking locations and digging in. He would take every BattleMech course available, spending his time at the academy taking advantage of every course available to him.

Graduation from the academy earned him the right, from his family, to pilot the BattleMech that typified the thinking of the Staudinger lineage. A CPLT-C4C, modified by the Staudinger lineage for the current field testing for additional ranged accuracy. After graduating and receiving the family's latest Catapult, now Lieutenant Staudinger was assigned to a relatively easy gig, something that chaffed with Ansgar. He wanted to be on the front, earning his family the respect it deserved, something that had waned in the years due to the generations being relegated to second line roles. But he had little say in the matter, and if he had known that things were about to get far from easy at his first official posting testing experimental designs, his own Catapult's systems included, then he just might not have nearly been as eager as he is to get into the fight.

Psychological Profile:
Ansgar has a analytical, quiet thinkers mindset most days, preferring to take a few moments to think and formulate a plan prior to acting. This tends to happen in all things, from personal interactions, professional life, and especially combat situations, simulated as they have been so far. This lends itself well to long ranged actions, and Ansgar has a stand offish attitude from this, coupled with the noble upbringing he had. He doesn't necessarily have an issue with those from ignoble birth, but it just ends up coming across that way. Tends to have a highly formal way of speaking, in part to keep his temper in check, which flares when pressed, in combat up close or when confronted harshly outside of combat, getting increasingly combative for often little reason, relatively speaking, off setting his normal self when he doesn't have the time to think and plan things out. His drive to succeed for the sake of his family can make him take risks that are unnecessary or otherwise dangerous for the given model he is piloting, but a good commanding officer should be able to compensate for this.

Skills:
Nagelring BattleMech Courses: Above Average marks, note of concern should student be forced into Light Mechs due to over familiarity with long to mid range, high power weapon systems. Resorts to highly risky methods should on board, conventional weapons systems prove ineffective against enemy targets.

Analysis: Ansgar shines at mid to long range, having a knack for target acquisition and tracking that outshined the rest of his class. Positioning and evasion of targets attempting to close with him was also a natural skill, and it was noted that if forced into a guerrilla fighting situation, Ansgar would thrive as long as ammunition for his weapons held out, due to his general distaste for energy based weapons. Tactically speaking, Ansgar is heavily defensive minded, useful for potential siege situations but will likely get outpaced and outmaneuvered in field exercises. Overall, a reliable, skilled fire support pilot, but risky should combat get too close and interfere with his thought processes.

Equipment:
Hold-Out Pistol - Ansgar's sidearm, carried hidden under his dress jacket when not in his mech, or worn openly when inside of the cockpit and dressed down for piloting purposes, Ansgar finds an odd joy in range shooting and practicing with his pistol, despite the odds that if he ends up in a situation requiring him to seriously use it, he is likely a dead man walking. Nothing special besides its sturdy, well designed frame, being made to a higher standard of quality than normal hold out pistols.

Personal Journal - Ansgar routinely updates and writes his own personal musings within the journal, an item he rarely parts with, usually tucked into the pocket of his dress jacket for safe keeping.

Battlemech
Catapult Model CPLT-C4C - An upgrade to the original C4 model, conventional C4C units have replaced their conventional engines with an extralight model, their two small lasers with a light pulse laser, heavy laser and beagle probe thanks to the freed up tonnage from the upgraded engine, while the LRM-15's have been upgraded to LRM-20's with twice as much ammo than the old LRM-15's carried. This increased its overall performance at long range by notable degrees, despite its weakened close combat capabilities. The Staudinger family could not leave well enough alone, and have further modified the C4C and have taken to referring to it as the C4S, instead.

C4S Modifications - Ditching the heavy laser completely, the freed up weight utilizes an installed Artemis IV Targeting system for the LRM-20's. This increases direct fire accuracy by a notable margin, coupled with the Beagle Active Probe from the conventional C4C model, makes a theoretically terrifying hunter-killer model of the Catapult, able to pick out targets through active electronics interference at long range, and provide improved munitions fired to munitions effective ratio. The most glaring downside to the C4S variant the Staudinger family is attempting to pioneer is its relatively laughable close range defenses of a solitary light pulse laser. However, the Catapult did receive the retrofit upgrade from the Anderson Propulsion 21 jumpjets, known for their tendency to break down suddenly and overheat the Mech due to poor venting, to the 25 series which addressed these deficiencies.

Character Sheet (Template Here)
Name: Cadet Sergeant Peter Mattlov
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Branch of Service: Cadet, Armed Forces of the Federated Suns
Physical Description:
Wiry, Mattlov is slightly below average size which is a boon in tight and confined cockpit spaces. He's dark of eye and hair and has a slightly swarthy cast of skin. While he keeps his hair buzzed down because he has a thing about lots of hair and neurohelmets, the hair was thick on his head. He tends toward a five o'clock shadow quickly. His typical off-duty attire tends to be fairly informal and runs toward the shorts and shirt of a mechwarrior, unless a social situation dictates a more formal khaki service uniform or even dress. Outside of that situation, he keeps it simple.

Character History:
Peter Mattlov's family were once the dukes of Caph, a highly industrialized planet with extensive research and development facilities a jump away from Earth and a part of the ancient Terran Hegemony. With the Amaris Civil War and the First Succession War, Caph's tech and industrial base were destroyed by a series of raids and chemical weapons attacks, and wound up in the Federated Suns for a time, though it changed hands to the Capellan Confederation and then back to the Federated Suns once more in that time.

Peter Mattlov's family lost much of their power before the Amaris Civil War, when another Duchess decided to cooperate with the forces of Stefan Amaris, the Usurper, and then in the process of subsequent invasions, lost their political power. In the process of rebuilding family fortunes in the wake of the numerous devastating attacks on Caph, the family found themselves conducting interstellar commerce between the successor states, moving products primarily between the Lyran Commonwealth and the Federated Suns, but also into the other successor realms. The company, a started by a group of Caph-based investors, provided Mattlov's family with a reasonable standard of living as they were one of the charter families in the Zhao-Mattlov-Salazar Group.

Peter's father, Michael, was an executive in this company and his mother, Fatima Mohammed, was a leftenant and mechwarrior in the 3rd Crucis Lancers and a veteran of the push on Tikonov during the Fourth Succession War. After her service was up, she mustered out and settled down on Caph with a husband to have a couple children; Peter was the first. Born in Aswan, he was raised wit h a good and sophisticated education in interstellar politics and history -- Caph's proximity to Earth and varied history meant that Peter had a good sense of Star League history as well as the Succession Wars. While his mother was a loyal Davion ex-officer, his father was part of a cosmopolitan consortium of traders that were former citizens of the Terran Hegemony.

Peter was not inclined toward the life of a company man; he liked the war stories. His mother, a decorated former Jagermech pilot and lance leader, was his lodestone; she would dispense the stories in small amounts, reluctantly, but it came out. She had served with the 3rd in Ozawa against the DCMS 5th Sword of Light, then Markab against the Fifth Sword of Light again, Tikonov against 1st Chesterson Voltigeurs of the CCAF, Tigress against House Hiritsu of the CCAF during the Fourth Succession War. That she survived some of the fiercest fighting of the later succession wars was a credit to her, and gave her a certain stature in Federated Suns society alongside her husband, as her regiment were the planetary garrison on Caph, and it meant that young Peter was acquainted with mechwarriors from the 3rd.

As a child, during the War of 3039, he experienced warfare first hand, though as a civilian, when Caph was invaded by the Ryuken-ni and Ryuken-san regiments of the DCMS; his mother was reactivated to duty and assigned to the headquarters of Marshal Vanessa Bisla as a liason to the local government; relations between the Marshal and Duke Ban Gustafson were poor, and Fatima Mattlov was stuck holding the bag in that. Peter, meanwhile, witnessed some of the fighting as the Draconis Combine forces attacked Aswan and then were routed by Wolf's Dragoons, the Davion Assault Guards, the Avalon Hussars and the 3rd Crucis Lancers, who were deployed to the planet, a staging area for AFFC forces, in anticipation of an offensive against the Draconis Combine. During the Combine Forces' landing, he was in a shelter that took a hit from a flight of LRM's that shook the entire structure, but was otherwise unscathed.

When his intent to become a mechwarrior became clear, it was the combination of a strong education, with tutors provided by his father, as well as his mother's guidance and connections with officers from the 3rd Crucis Lancers, that gave him the proper skills to pass the tests to place into NAIS's College of Military Science, one of the most prestigious institutions in the Inner Sphere.

While at NAIS, Mattlov excelled in his studies, but he was considered a hotheaded, mercurial sort. He would follow if led well, but held himself to high standards and others to the same -- occasionally, his temper would come through, but often with a redoubled effort to master something. Not everything came naturally to him, but willpower overcame what natural talent didn't. His family had money, but it wasn't enough to own a battlemech (his mother's battlemech belonged to her family, and she gave it up to a younger cousin joining the AFFS when she resigned her commission), so he knew from the outset that he'd have to earn a battlemech pilot's billet in a House regiment through skill.

By his fourth year, he was close to the top of his class, though also with some degree of disciplinary infractions -- mostly due to brawling and insults -- when dealing with some of the other students. As a result, he only rose to the rank of Cadet Sergeant in the Corps of Cadets (captain being the highest) All the same, Mattlov was highly thought of by his instructors in the 2nd NAIS Cadre and was assigned to a special joint Lyran/FedSuns field testing cadre unit out in Lyran space, working with lostech and prototype weaponry in a variety of conditions. It was considered a good way to help season promising mechwarriors with the tempo of real operations (even if it was dull garrison duty) in preparation for their commissioning in their regiments. The top students had first choice of their billets.

In Mattlov's case, there was no doubt -- 3rd Crucis Lancers or the AFFS go hang.

Psychological Profile:
Mattlov is not an easy man to command -- he has his own point of view, which he will make heard, and he is confident in his skills. At the same time, when someone he respects is in command, he will work himself all the harder to make sure that person succeeds, even if it means he is going to provide feedback. He is intense and tenacious, which can lead to personality clashes in that he is not the sort of person that likes to quietly obey orders he thinks are foolish.

There is a flash of cynical humor there and considerable intelligence, but it is combined with a mouth -- his brain-to-mouth filter is not entirely engaged. If there were ever an off-the-cuff person, he is it. Luckily, the AFFS has a culture of tolerating individuals when they are good at what they do, and this applies to one Cadet Sergeant Peter Mattlov. In the cockpit, he is consumed by what he does, fully engaged.

In deference to his mother's Sunni Islam faith, he does not eat pork, but that's as far as it goes. His family is not nobility in the FedSuns, but it is well-established. He's not a social climber by inclination or ambition, and he is cheerfully indifferent to social class, something that can rub an aristocrat the wrong way. He tends to rate the world by warriors and non-warriors. The attack on Caph left him with a case of PTSD that he has struggled with-- he is claustrophobic, though he does not mind cockpits (they have windows) but he is no fan of caves of bunkers or an enclosed, windowless space with a low ceiling, and that includes not weathering dropships or APC's terribly well. Furthermore, he harbors a morbid fear of being buried alive; the LRM hits on Caph caused his shelter to shake and rattle, and some cement came loose. To this day, shifting sand or pebbles makes him slightly queasy, though he does his best to generally deal with it.

Skills:
Strong academic performance, but that is overshadowed by a gifted spatial sense; he is a natural with autocannons and firing while moving. His instructors have been routinely impressed with his situational awareness. In tactical exercises, he prefers hard-hitting, fast-moving approaches to the problem, including mobile defenses, but he seems to have a fine sense of when to get fully engaged and when to simply hold the enemies. He prefers medium mechs above all the other classes, considering maneuverability to be better than heavy armor.

He has a raider's eye for the soft spot, preferring to hit where it counts.

He is surprisingly good at trading and scrounging, though only middling as a technician.

Equipment:
- Cooling vest, also favors plasteel boots (typical of Davion officers and cadets, his have spurs). He wears shorts in the cockpit, besides the essential vest and neurohelmet, but little else, which is a standard practice for mechwarriors, at least when they aren't operating in vacuum conditions, because the mech cockpits get so hot, and extra heat means possible unconsciousness. Heat gloves are an added necessary for avoiding burned hands.
- His early graduation gift from his mother and father was well-chosen by his veteran mechwarrior mother; a combat Neurohelmet, Star League vintage. It has a completely different feel than the FedSuns issue items. The helmet-mounted HUD is very different but the interface seems more responsive. When his parents found out about his assignment on detached duty, they sent it along early.
- Combat Medipack, strapped to his leg in the cockpit.
- Wooden misbaha, prayer beads worn around the neck -- a lucky talisman. These are of ancient Earth manufacture. He wears this in the cockpit.
- Noteputer w/telescan and wireless receiver -- only useful in built up areas with news services.
- Mauser & Grey Service Automatic - Lyran issue, but he pulled some trades to get one.
- A good, sturdy multi-tool with a holster to hold it.
- Bailout/survival pack; stored in his mech, intended to provide a few days of environmental survival where-ever he winds up.

Battlemech
Cicada CDA-3M; field testing the model being deployed in the FWL. This particular one made its way from Solaris to NAIS where it has since been put through its paces repeatedly. This particular one has an endo-steel structure and adds a Beagle Active Probe and a half-ton of UAC ammunition.

Cadet Aveline Lott
Twenty-two || Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces || Female

Physical Description
She had pale gray eyes, usually lined in charcoal and focused. There was a scar on her left cheek bone brushing back into her hairline from a spring release metal, a less focused time, usually covered with strands of her short ebony hair. She was average height with a toned build that supported slight curves beaten down with a strict training regime. Her skin was heavily tattooed; the dual moon cycles of Blackjack played down her spine starting at the respective Club and Spade that were tattooed on her upper neck, devilish serpents that were equal parts Blackjack species and Christian nightmare fuel raced from her palm to curl behind her shoulder and other symbols, reminders, that meant nothing in her new home. She wears short breathable orange fabric shorts and an equipment strap on her right thigh, a black sports bra and a lightweight ballistic fiber slip that covered her like a turtleneck that had been cut at the elbows.

Character History
As the second Succession war came to a close, Blackjack’s industry and ore mining had all but crumbled. The mercenaries originally hired to protect the planet from raiders and Combine were suddenly out of work and those who had bled the resources dry had long since moved on. The mercenaries seized the opportunity and utilized the pits from surface mining and catacombs; converting them into scrap heaps, containing a rare Mech part or two, and plenty of other things, all abandoned, scavenged, or pillaged. They took claim of the planet with loose leadership.

It gained some notoriety for its mechanical industry, which was said to have once boasted quite the illicit modification trade. It was Aveline’s Grandfather who gained official recognition from the Lyran Commonwealth. The Blackjack School of Conflict, with its less than common training techniques, would be accepted if Blackjack excluded some of the more pirate inclined traders, but they also gained the trade and support of the Lyran Commonwealth. It was a prosperous move.

The planet did not maintain full stability, excluding even the ordeals of War. The piracy and underground trade had mostly been removed, or at least brushed further into hiding. Being so close to the periphery still seemed to bring in a fair share of unsavory individuals; but if Blackjack respected anything, it was privacy and a hard day’s work in the scrap fields. She had relished this about her home; the ability to be anonymous that she gave up entirely when coming here. On her home system of Blackjack she was nobility that could hide among the populous, but at Nagelring her nobility was enough for notice, but not enough for respect.

Aveline Lott and her siblings had begun training young with BattleMechs, but they had also learned much in the catacombs. It was a unique underbelly that she explored searching for the legendary MechTech the elderly bragged about storing away. They mainly picked up mechanical and life lessons instead. It was no surprise that all of the children were equipped enough to make it into the Blackjack School of Conflict. She thrived there. The school’s respect system was heavily based on skill, with much less focus on birth and status. Unfortunately her family was not in possession of multiple BattleMechs. A deal was made with a longtime family friend that a Mech would be supplied as long as Aveline was accepted and graduated from Nagelring.

The acceptance into the school was difficult, but the acceptance within school was baffling. She was raised in a family extremely conducive to becoming a Mech pilot, in such a sense that she had never considered anything else. Both of her parents were praised pilots. Her mother continued by teaching at the BJSC. While her father’s inclinations have long since moved towards leadership over battle, his skill was undisputed. So in this she was naturally inclined. What she lacked was the grooming and etiquette and title that she simply couldn’t excel in. While her parents passed on a grasp of politics, they were more geared to periphery space issues. This left her physically and mentally prepared for battle, but not for the social atmosphere of Nagelring. So, most of the friends she has made came to her out of curiosity, not camaraderie, and there were a sad handful that respected her skill enough for passing pleasantries.

Psychological Profile
She is not socially inclined in the sense that the Nagelring expects, though on her home planet she would never have been referred to as an introvert. Since coming to the Nagelring she is withdrawn, though when in the company of others she often over compensates for a lack of social refinement with a fierce attitude which only overexaggerates the previous. She still nourishes the belief she can prove herself through the same means as she did at home, through skill, and it drives her to put all her energy into aspects of training.

Even in her senior year this has gained her few, if any, friends. She has a suspicion of friendships, motivated by wavering confidence. Her most driving goal would likely be acknowledgment, though she has convinced herself the majority of people surrounding her are not vetted enough to provide a worthwhile compliment anyways.

What she lacks in social skills she makes up battle skill, bred and nourished. Much of her interaction is forceful, her tone and attitude blunt. In slow moving or tedious situations she has a tendency to grow frustrated or anxious. She loves a challenge and has sought them out, improving her skill along the way. With the bred and nourished battle attitude also came an acceptance of loss. She is not the “get everyone out alive” type, but leans more towards an understanding of expected and accepted losses.

Skills
  • More competent in dodge and flank-attack techniques. Scouting.
  • Good acclimation rate to various BattleMech and scenarios, quick learner, reads terrain.
  • Shows very little outward fear, doesn't have the luxury to fall behind in competitive scenarios.
  • Training in Outer Space Survival/Salvager (repair, salvage, lay low, steal to survive, basic med training).

Equipment
  • Cooling Vest
  • Neurohelmet
  • Mauser & Grey Automatic Handgun
  • metal wire
  • knife
  • rope
  • mech tools (repair, scavenging, basic parts: stored in Mech)
  • survival kit (stored in Mech)

Battlemech
  • PXH-1b "Special"
Referred to as the Phoenix Hawk "Special," the 1b was introduced in 2760 for the Star League's Royal units. It utilized an XL Engine as well as Endo Steel for its chassis, which allowed the designers to upgrade its weaponry. The pistol-like laser was upgraded to an ER PPC, while a swivel-mounted ER Large Laser found its way onto the right torso. Replacing the ten standard heat sinks with Double heat sinks kept these high-heat weapons from overwhelming the 'Mech. A Guardian ECM Suite in the center torso improved the 1b's defense, while moving the machine gun ammunition to the left torso and adding CASE virtually ensured that the MechWarrior would survive an ammunition explosion.

Name: Nero Reynard

Age: 22
Gender: Male
Branch of Service: Armed Forces of the Federated Suns
Physical Description:
Nero stand 5' 9" tall and weighs 178 lbs. He has acquired a fit body through years of disciplined exercise. Most of the men of his lineage go bald early and he is no exception. Although the hairline is just now starting to recede, Nero opted to shave the head now and prefers to go for the bald look. He feels it gives him a more intimidating presence. His piercing blue eyes do make him attractive; framed by a dominant brow and firm cheek bones.

When not in uniform or in the cockpit of a Mech, Nero dresses casually in cotton cargo pants and a golf shirt or cotton T-shirt. He has no problem dressing formal, just feels it is unnecessary to dress to impress when there is no reason to do so.

Character History:
Nero was born into the House Reynard on New Avalon in 3028. His father, a New Avalonian Duke, occupies a seat on the governing council and a voice in the Federated Commonwealth. Reynard Davion, President of the Federated Suns from 2340 to 2371 is related to the House of Reynard through his mother's side of the family. The former President was named for his mother's maiden name. The Reynards have always enjoyed a close relationship with the House of Davion over the past 700 years. "Loyalty Until Death" is the family's motto. Francois Reynard, an ancestor whom Nero is in direct lineage to once held the position of Commander of the 1st Avalon Hussars in the late 28th Century. Military tradition is an important value to the House of Reynard.

As a child Nero enjoyed reading military history, about the wars that plagued the Federated Suns and the Lyran Commonwealth. Both sides of the alliance are equally fascinating to the youthful Reynard. He often spent time playing war games or battlefield simulations either in board format or on a computer; occasionally with his brother, Tiberius. Learning small unit tactics and strategy is something Nero thrived, it was his passion, paying very close attention to learning these skills while at NAMA and later at The Nagelring.

Another hobby Nero enjoyed as a youth was taking things apart and putting them back together. He liked disassembling small engines and rebuilding them as well as computer components, electrical systems and hydraulics. This hobby helped him learn about the BattleMechs he would later operate. He loves tinkering with the mechanical and technology that make a Mech work.

Nero had a relatively easy upbringing, receiving everything a young boy needs to grow up with. He never missed a meal and always had a place to lay his head. His mother, Marguerite (Davion) Reynard was a loving woman who was also third cousin to the current First Prince Hanse Davion. Nero and his siblings, Gemma and Tiberius received the best education on New Avalon and on other planets in the Federated Commonwealth. Marguerite had significant influence in the House of Davion. As the eldest son, Nero was sent to the New Avalon Military Academy; The College of Military Studies to learn how to operate Battle Mechs.

In his Junior Year, Nero transferred to The Nagelring, the premier military academy in the Lyran Commonwealth. He continued his studies in Battle Mechs, excelling in his field of studies. Nero has always been a rule follower, with a very disciplined perspective. Operating by the book is important to Nero Reynard, enforcing rules amongst his peers when discovered. He does not care who he offends in enforcing the standards of the military arm of the Federated Commonwealth.

In his senior year at the Nagelring, Cadet Reynard was promoted to the rank of Cadet First Sergeant. As the Cadet First Sergeant, Nero was the principal advisor the commander on the state of morale, discipline and training of cadets within the company. He advised the Company Commander on planning, coordinating and supervising activities of the class. In this position, Cadet First Sergeant Reynard conducted all company formations; responsible for training and execution of all drill and ceremonies to include the Company Color Guard.

As the class neared graduation, many of the top students at the Nagelring were chosen for a special joint FedSuns/Lyran field-testing exercise in Lyran space. They would work with lostch and prototype weaponry in various conditions. Nero jumped at this opportunity anticipating decent hands on experience with an operational Mech. It was his expectation once his class graduated that he would be able to choose the regiment he would ultimately join, that unit being the Davion Heavy Guards Regiment.

Psychological Profile:
Nero is a pensive individual who enjoys being able to think things through. He spent most of his youth learning from the past about various tactics and strategy. He enjoys roleplaying various scenarios in his mind about how he would react to a given situation. When action his required, it takes him very little time to determine a suitable course of action, preferring to act quickly when the situation demands it, yet taking his time and thinking things through when the situation affords him the time to do so.

In sporting events, Nero can be very aggressive and will not hesitate to assert himself on the playing field.

Nero is a rule follower. As the oldest child in his family growing up, following the rules, doing what his parents told him to do was very important. In like, enforcing those standards on his brother, Tiberius and sister, Gemma were equally important. He had been considered a brown-noser or tattle tale early on, which isolated him from some of his peers during his primary and secondary education years. Nero preferred to distance himself from Negative influence, surrounding himself with positive friends who shared his values. This trait has served him well.

Those who do not understand Nero's drive to be competitive and do well academically and athletically consider him to be overly arrogant; misinterpreting his natural aggressive and assertive tendencies as arrogance.

Skills::
- In school, Nero excelled in military history, small unit tactics at the Lance and Company level and in maintenance of a Mech. He enjoys learning the lessons of the past in an attempt to apply them to future scenarios. He role plays possible situations in his mind regularly analyzing terrain as it suits the weapon systems available to him on a theoretical battlefield. Nero enjoys taking things apart and putting them back together. He has become quite skilled at maintaining the various technological components that go into making a Mech work. He is familiar with the engine, the hydraulic systems, the wiring, the computer components and the software. His attention to detail and stickler for the rules got him the posting as Cadet First Sergeant of the Company of Cadets at The Nagelring.

- Of all the things about school, Nero enjoys, piloting a BattleMech the best. The first time he slid into the cockpit, he felt a rush of excitement overwhelm him. After his first testdrive on an older rebuilt Shadow Hawk, he felt like he was home at the controls of this magnificent beast. Thrilling!

- Nero likes salvage operations and does well in those classes; learning what components are a piority over others. But this goes hand in hand with his innate technological and maintenance skills.

- With a natural aggressive nature, Nero prefers the offensive. It shows in his fighting style. If given the option to defend or attack, Nero would tell you that the best defense, is a spirited attack; get in close with your opponent and open up his weaknesses for exploitation. He prefers to be at the tip of the spear, the point man in an operation in order to identify threats early and report them back. He understands the value of a good reconnaissance and how to use the intelligence recon elements acquire to exploit the enemy's weakness. Nero views the defense simply as an opportunity to recover strength and evaluate an opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Spending too much time on the defense sacrifices opportunities to advance and take terrain.
