The room was refreshing, a lot simpler than the room provided for him at the Brandt estate, which suited him better. He saw the TV and wondered if they could get a game console for it, he bought one when he was adopted while he wasn't expected to train or anything, something to do. Reading didn't suit him, too slow, and watching shows were too passive, unless it was an action or something.

"Yeah, pretty simple too, which is just how I like it", not as messy as he would usually leave rooms in. His butler always cleaned his room at home, so he never quite felt like the room was his, someone else was always taking care of it. He wondered what living with these three would be like.

"Well, this bed in the corner's mine", he was first to call dibs on something, naturally the rest would follow suit, they needed to assign beds after all. Each one seemed to have their own bedside table, and he also spotted some desks along the wall.

"This is great! My room back home wasn't even half this size." Cedar was more than contented as he flopped onto a bed himself and sighed as he sank into the plush mattress below.

"Very simple, effective. They know their design." Yasmin perched on a bed and sighed a little as she could let her posture slack slightly before she began to unpack her things, the moon shining through their window.

"I'm kinda excited about tomorrow... how about you guys?" Cedar spoke up as he started setting a bunch of little figurines on the shelf.

Once the others started unpacking, Julio contemplated whether or not he should as well. His eyes went to the shelf and the mini-drawers for their clothing. In all honesty, he hadn't brought a lot stuff unlike the other two it seems. Well, in all honesty, he only brought along two book, multiple dust cartridges, his weapon and extra clothing. That was practically everything. So, he decided to just place his entire backpack onto the shelf, not bothering to take anything out and just continued to sit idly and watch them.

"Well, it is the first day. So yes, a little bit." Besides, it was finally time he could show his father that he could do something on his own. This was what his father wanted him to do. And to make a mark on Lustre Academy. The latter wasn't really his main objective, but it would be easier thanks to Asher who was in his team. He felt good about it.

"I don't really care, I like to deal with things as they come", he responded. He didn't bring much with him, just a few dirty trinkets, one of them seemed to be a broken part of something, regardless he placed no special attention to it as he brought out a few other things. Among it was a letter from his sisters to stay safe, and a small box containing food from his favorite stand, there was a note on it, indicating his butler had prepared it for him. Otherwise, the rest was just some changes of clothes and the academy uniform. As he pulled that out, brand new, it was pretty formal looking stuff.

"I'm never going to get used to these...", he said as he looked at his uniform.

The uniforms weren't much to look at, despite Lustre's rich appearance on the outside. They were simple enough, a short sleeve dress shirt with a yellow line on the sleeves, a choice of either a yellow tie or ribbon for the boys and girls. There was an optional light brown vest to go with it, made more for the colder months. A brown blazer with yellow lines on the sleeves was also part of the attire, ending in cream coloured slacks for the boys and a similar cream skirt for the girls. It was nothing to get excited about.

Uniform Reference

Before long, the moon rose high in the sky and the new students of Lustre Academy settled in to their beds, their first night in the walls of the prestigious academy, dreaming of what could possibly await them in their future.

Before they knew it, morning was upon them, their alarms going off at 8 sharp. Classes would start at 9, so they had about an hour to get themselves ready and have breakfast. In team JAYC's room, Yasmin was the first one awake, occupying the bathroom for a decent period of time as she did up her hair and made herself look pretty, always tutting to herself how she could look better. Cedar, meanwhile, slept past his alarm and rolled over in bed slightly.

In a room nearby to JAYC's room, team VALT (Valentine) had been able to settle in. A late arrival on campus, their group had done a pre-exam prior to the other students and kept private for reasons the academy kept close to its chest. No-one had probably even noticed they were there yet, but just like the others, they were first years.

Their team members consisted of a seafaring lass named Lynn Pilchard, a mostly happy go lucky girl who kept a certain amount of class to her, Terra Cottra, a quiet and mysterious fellow who oft kept to himself but had immense skill in battle, Azura Cerulean and their leader, Venator Aurea. For them, it was also their first day.

Azura silently slid off her covers with a mischevious grin on her face. She'd set another alarm for herself, five minutes before the academy one. This meant of course, that she was first into the shower! Her first day of class started today, how very exciting! Of course she didn't hog the bathroom by any means and was actually done faster than most would expect of a girl, especially considering her mass of hair. It was a shame they had to wear uniforms but they weren't actually that bad so Azura wasn't too bothered by it, at least they hadn't tried to make her cut her hair or something silly like that. Azura exited the bathroom and sat on her bed, fully dressed and ready for the day. Well except for breakfast of course! She hummed merrily to herself and was lost in thought, thinking about how the day would go.

"The uniforms? I know what you feel." Julio said with a light chuckle. His uniform was neatly folded inside the bag but he'll take it out tomorrow morning. He looked out of the window and saw that the moon was already up. Huh... that was quick. Ah well, they have an entire three years to get to know each other so there wasn't any hurry. Muttering a quickly goodbye, he covered himself in the blanket and then fell into a light sleep.

The alarm blared out and he groggily sat up, exactly to see Yasmin head inside the bathroom. He walked towards the alarm and turned it off. Everyone was probably awake by now. He headed towards his bag and then shook his head to wake himself up. Following that was a yawn and he opened his bag and took out the uniform. He looked back at the bathroom.

She was taking pretty long in there.

Girls.

He then sat down on his bed as he waited for her to finish up. Once she did, he immediately headed inside. Compared to how long Yasmin was inside, he was done in a flash. He came out wearing the prescribed uniform with the vest on, despite it not being all that cold. He felt more comfortable with it on. He then sat down on his bed.

Venator opened a single golden eye at the sound of an alarm and checked his scroll, carefully hiding the light from his teammates. 7:55. He was about to question why someone's alarm was going off early until he heard the sound of someone sneaking out of bed and into the adjoining bathroom, thus answering his question. His sensitive hearing caught the sound of the shower being turned on, so he pulled his legs out of the bed and stood up, stretching his limbs with a few soft pops and clicks.

As his blue-haired team-mate exited the bathroom, he quickly stepped around her and closed the door behind him, hanging his uniform on the back of the door. Pulling his pyjama shirt off, he traced an old scar on his chest before he sighed to himself and stripped the rest of his clothes off. He had a quick shower and brushed his fang-like teeth before pulling on his new uniform. He stepped out of the bathroom, adjusting his tie to see Azura perched on her bed, humming to herself, and his other two team-mates still waking up, the pre-set alarms having gone off not long after Azura had left the bathroom. Pulling the blazer on, he spoke.

"I'm going to get something at the dining hall, I'll save a table for you guys. You coming, Azura?"

His hand was resting on the door handle as he looked at her, head slightly tilted in question.

Asher was one of the first ones to wake, although it was a bit later than usual for the last few months. His butler usually roused him up for his daily training, but it seems that was no longer the case, the training included. He was tempted to fall back to sleep, but he wasn't sleep enough to just go out like a light so he decided to get up. Yasmin was visibly up too, but instead of heading to the bathroom or anything he just headed out to the commons to grab a drink to wake him up properly before returning to the dorm to see Cedar still asleep, and Julio getting up.

"Guess I should get changed...", he noted to himself as he headed to grab his uniform after brushing his teeth in the bathroom. Yasmin was there too, but it wasn't like she was taking a shower or anything. After that he headed off to change in his corner of the room.

"What's first period anyway? And when is it?", he asked, he hadn't checked the time since he woke, as he woke mostly out of conditioning.

Azura was brought out of her thoughts by Ven asking if she would come to the dining hall. Ah, it hadn't occurred to her that they served breakfast. But of course they would, it was a school and there wasn't anywhere else to get food. "Of course!" Azura practically bounced off the bed and walked off after Ven. She then proceeded to ask the first thing that came to mind. "Hey Vennnn," She started, drawing his nickname out, "Why do you think you got to be leader?" It seemed like a loaded question at first glance, or perhaps an envious one, but she was really just asking out of idle curiosity.

"Sorry dear. I must look my best when wearing this drab uniform." Yasmin smiled at Julio as he passed her. She gave a brief morning greeting to Asher as well. "I believe first period is combat class with Miss Lariet, after breakfast." She informed him, checking her scroll. "The school's schedule has likely been sent to your scrolls as well, if you need to reference them. I'm ready to go whenever you guys are."

Cedar got up last and rolled onto the floor, picking himself up and rubbing his eyes, going about getting himself ready, last in the bathroom and last to get changed into his uniform, though he kept his goggles in his hair as a little mark of personal interest.

"I'm ready!" Cedar said strongly, trying to psyche himself up a little bit, fluffing up his tail.

In team VALT's room, Terra was the next one up, rising silently from his bed and taking the bathroom after Ven had been in, leaving his hat on his bed as his teammates could briefly catch the eight spoked wheel symbol tattoo'd on his forehead. He didn't take very long and when he came out, he gace them a slight nod, indicating he was ready to leave as well, trailing behind the two quietly.

Lynn was the last one awake and only woke up when all her teammates had left. She sat up in bed, looking around and frowned.

"Oh bloody typical. Great teamwork guys." she grumbled to herself and hurriedly went about preparing herself for the day to catch up with her team.

The dining room was just as nice looking as it had been yesterday with its diamond shaped tables, large open windows and clean floors. The menu had been swapped for a breakfast menu, serving a range from porridge to a full cooked breakfast, the servers behind the counter ready to prepare whatever they asked for. Thanks to team VALT getting there early, the line was fairly short and it would only get longer once they joined it. They could spot that team SILC were already at their table though.

"It's fine, I'll just have to get used to sharing a single bathroom with three people." Julio mused. He always roomed by himself, despite having a sibling both in his original family and adoptive one. Asher had asked about the schedule and Yasmin replied, prompting the monkey faunus to check his own scroll to look at the schedule. Combat training this early in the morning? He wasn't complaining though... what's a better way to pump your blood than fighting with others right?

Cedar rolled off his bed and landed on the floor. That must hurt. "Morning Cedar." His fellow faunus rushed to the bathroom to get changed. Julio took his cap and then fitted it on his head. "Hey, they never said we couldn't add something to the uniforms right?" He asked the others. Either the rule doesn't exist, or he has never heard of it. Hopefully it's the former, he never left without his trusty cap on his head. It felt alien to have nothing blocking the sun.

When Cedar came back, all prepared, Julio was the first one out. "Well, let's go then. I think we need to finish early if classes is on 9." He said, looking at his scroll to check the time. Yeah, they could probably finish breakfast by this time.

Asher headed down for breakfast with his team. Combat classes first huh? Wonder what's gonna happen, don't they usually do these classes first to better gauge the potential of their students? Well in any case, off they went. Asher wore his uniform a bit unkempt, for lack of better word, he looked like he was going to skip classes and stand in alleyways threateningly, which he probably is going to do a few times. There wasn't much else to say, Yasmin spent a lot of time getting prepared, he somewhat hoped that it wasn't going to always be that long.

"Ven? That was certainly quick...". He'd been here less than a week, and he'd already gotten a nickname. He sighed and shook his head slightly before he thought about how best to answer Azura's question.

"I suppose it's because I have a little experience when it comes to leadership... Nothing impressive, mind you, but I got the job done." He shrugged. He briefly thought back the group he had left in the city, but dismissed it. They could handle without him. He instead turned his attention to the servery, and went about selecting his breakfast. Settling for a liberal helping of bacon, sausages and fried egg with a mug of coffee, he found his team an empty table. He waited for the rest of his team, sans Lynn, to sit down before he asked them a question.

"So, what brought you two to Lustre? and no smart answers like 'a bullhead' please, Azura." He pulled the expression of someone expecting a bad pun, but smiled a bit.

Azure nodded to Ven's explanation: that made sense; after all, someone who was used to leading would generally make a better leader. Her eye's widened at the large amount of breakfast items and she loaded up. Pancake. Bacon. Pancake. Eggs. Pancake. Sausage. Pancake. And drizzled syrup. It was a mountain of food but Azura was clearly going to devour it all, along with the aid of a large glass of orange juice. Azura followed Ven to the table and took a seat, not even noticing Terra. When he asked his question Azura tilted her head quizzically and once could practically see question marks popping into the air around her head. "Ehhhh?" A bullhead? What could he mean by that? Like a bull's head? Or like some weird sort of fish? Wasn't some part of a ship called the bullhead? But none of those made much sense for a reply. If she said she came here to be a hunter was that a smart answer? If anything it seemed like a dumb answer. A diminished sound somewhat like a teapot whistling could be heard from her for several moments before Azura figured it out. It was the airship they'd come in on right?! Azura had never had much of a head for tech stuff so it was no surprise she hadn't bothered learning the name. It was like a person not knowing the difference between the airplane and a AEG J.II "Psh, I wouldn't say something like that. Anyway I came to be a hunter of course: plus I live in Vault so it makes the most sense to come here after all!" With all that said in one rapid breath, that way she could get to eating faster, and with the end of her sentence the top layer pancake vanished into her mouth. One might question how this feat was accomplished given the disproportionate size of her mouth and the pancake, but such questions were would be in vain, as there was no answer.

Terra helped himself to nothing more than a bowl of porridge and a cup of tea, eating quietly at the table as he listened in. When Ven spoke up, his hat tilted slightly so his eyes emerged, looking upon him.
"My family believed Lustre was best for me. They claimed they used to know the headmaster personally during their hunting days. They trust him, as I do." He returned to eating.
"Thanks a lot for waiting, guys. REALLY appreciate it." Grumbled Lynn as she strutted over to the table with a full English breakfast, sitting it down and glaring at each of them individually. "I thought we were supposed to be a teaaaaaaam." she complained.

"They didn't. I think it should be ok... besides, I use these for combat, i'm sure they'll be ok with that." Cedar claimed, his tail twitching behind them slightly as they made their way down to the hall.
"Interesting they decided we have combat first, isn't it?" Yasmin commented as they entered the dining hall, the clamor of the other students echoing around them as the morning sunshine shone through the windows and across the tiled floor.

"Good." Julio said. He never knew why, but he was attached to the cap. Perhaps it was because it's the only thing his father ever gave him without him doing anything. He immediately lined up after reaching the dining hall and then looked over to Yasmin. He shrugged, "I guess it is. Get the blood pumping early in the morning." It was nothing new to him anyway. Training even started earlier than this. Julio wondered why he slept through his usual waking time.

"Looks like it's just an evaluation to me, figure out who's going to need the most or least work in the skills we use for our future careers", that career being slaying Grimm. As they entered the hallway for breakfast he yawned before he made his own way to get some breakfast before he would join his team back at a table.

"Besides, I hear it's normal in other academies anyway, killing Grimm is the main thing they teach at these places after all", he continued.

Venator laughed a little through his nose with a slight smirk at Lynn's complaining whilst he cut up some of the food on his plate. "Sorry about that, sleeping beauty. The rest of us got up fair bit earlier than the rest of the teams, so I figured it wouldn't be fair to make you get up while you were enjoying what seemed to be a good night sleep. I don't know what their excuses are, although Azura was probably more wrapped up in her own head." He gestured to Azura and Terra with his knife before loading up his fork with bacon, sausage and egg. Finishing his mouthful, he returned his attention to the pirate-esque girl. "So, what about you? I've already heard from Azura and Terra, What made you decide to become a Huntress?"

Azure grinned cheekily at Lynn, "We did wait up silly, we're right here aren't we?" She laughed a little to indicate that she was joking. "Besides you can never tell when people are morning zombies that'll try to eat your face off if you wake them up so better safe than sorry!" She inhaled another layer of food and pointed at Ven with her fork accusingly, "Hey, at least I have something in my head to be wrapped up about! Plus you haven't even told us why you decided to be hunter."
