Velt's a monarchy, Ithillin's a monarchy(even if it's ruled by a Lord rather then a king)... given the setting, they're pretty much all monarchies. ^^;

@VitaVitaARwell I mean that's not always intuitive given the prevalence of Holy orders in Thaln. Okay so what's the deal with Velts humans. Got any info on them? I'm feeling motivated so I was thinking about fleshing out then hills people I accidentally created if that is okay with you. Just to give Garrett some depth

Well, Velt's people are largely Reonite/Mayonite. It's even got the largest temples for both goddesses on the continent. They have a fairly long history of nobility and knighthood, though much less of a warlike past then Thaln does(even if they played a large part in a few conflicts). Due to the influence of their religion, slavery is extremely strictly illegal in Velt, though it still happens as it's hard to monitor. Paladins of Reon are known for their particularly zealous extermination of slave traders and slave owners. They have a large magic college and several educational institutions aside from that, mostly in and around the capital.

I would love to see a full matriarchal society, women are the life givers, so it is easier to trace lineage of who came from who.

A lot of the countries are actually pretty egalitarian when it comes to the sexes at least. Exceptions are basically some high-ranking Reonite and Mayonite clergy, who have to be female to reflect their deities.

I was wondering about that myself.

Could I have a little more info on gender in the world and whatnot, if that's okay?

I think I am going to change my guy's weapon and it's power a little. Somehow it feels like I am stepping on the other heavy-fighter's toes by having a dagger that becomes a greatsword.

It would probably help him to not have to master two opposed fighting styles, at least. xD

@Monochromatic Rainbow: Like I said, generally the countries we'll be dealing with are pretty egalitarian. Both men and women can be soldiers, knights, have important positions, teach, hold religious positions... in fact, in the Reonite/Mayonite Church there's a few high-level positions that can only be female for religious reasons.

I think I am going to go with a more standard sword with the power to cause sudden overgrowth, to embody the Gardener name.
I'm deciding between rapier and longsword.

@knighthawk

Actually, a rapier would have a considerably longer blade than that first one there, it's a weapon designed for maximum reach and thrusting, that there looks more like a sidesword. Terminology nitpick, sorry.

As to which one to choose, I would say that having a longsword that grows would make much more sense - the rapier isn't a battlefield weapon, and it uses a style of fighting that would differ massively from that of a standard european arming sword.

Could potentially join. I have two ideas, since I'm not sure if you'd accept another non-human.

The non-human idea is a lovechild of an affair of a noble and a nonhuman, and thus inducting it in the order might have been the most gracious way to settle the issue (Half-Elf or Half-Giant).

Even so, the idea of a fairy knight claiming to be THE STRONGEST cracks me up tho.

The human idea is a talented, smart but ultimately self-centered slacker that joined the old-renowned order to get an easy time of showing off in times of peace and woo maidens.

You might want to read some of the Ooc, friend. Generally speaking, your character should be a knight - obviously with exceptions such as in my case.

Mmm, yeah I saw it. Old order in times of peace, kingdom of thees and thous, some magic, some fantasy races, some pantheon... have I missed anything?

If you're wondering for the fairy knight I wasn't even serious.

Don't think thees and thous are required, thankfully, I just figured I'd mention it in case if you do decide to work out how and why a talented slacker would go about getting knighted.

And I wasn't actually wondering, no need to be so snippy, just trying to help >.>

For the chicks, obviously. Duh. Work hard to enter the super elite order,then just parade cause it's a peaceful era and it's a way to avoid being cast in petty wars and noble powerplays.

Nothing will go wrong...right?
