Emerald gets cranky a lot for reasons. He then whines about anything that doesn't make sense to him (or he sleeps, which he does about 14 hours a day of.), e.g., in the last rp a few irl days ago he complained about yet more Homeworld Gems coming from out of nowhere and somehow causing trouble. Tropes in literature don't make any sense if you think about them at all, and Emerald, being a work of fiction, is subject to those, which he can't make sense of.
