[OOC] Create-A-Hero: A Superhero RPG (Closed)

Something I totally forgot to ask everyone. At some point we'll need to make our Doc information available to view for everyone. Those who are interested in joining mostly. So I have two ideas.

I could create a couple of lore threads for the information and NMS could link to them. Or idea two. I could get all the collaborators' emails and we can change permissions and make it so only we can edit and change the Doc and it's contents.

Now I'm not sure how everyone feels about that last one, so give me your thoughts on the subject. Alternatively NMS could just copy and paste everything into the OP. But that might be a lot of work.

@VATROU I would like to contribute some of my ideas at least regarding opening dimensions or faerie realms :). I think having the ideas in one thread or two would be a good option. From there whoever is interested can discuss or expand on ideas before submitting things to an official lore guideline.

Just one thing to remember about these docs, the information you are putting in is only one way that things can work. Like with magic, there are many different ways for things to be accomplished.

I mean, we've always just established these things IC, and in my experience (running this game for almost 9 years), it's always worked

True, and I don't disagree.

However, some people do like to work and include the mechanics of other people's things. Some people find it easier if someone already established a base for them to work with and on with. It's a bit hard to do that unless you share or have information publicly displayed. Werewolves and Kitsune, for example, I divided into species so if someone doesn't like the type I made, they can make their own breed and still be classed as a werewolf. They don't even have to have appearance or anything really and still be a werewolf. So I did make it possible for variety without restrictions. :P

The timeline isn't perfect as I don't have exact day number, but between the riot and collab (Jacqueline and Cowl) it's been about 8-9 days, give or take a day. Racheli was brought in on the day of the riots, toward the evening, when the chaos was dying down and police were trying to restore order.

I mean if Icon needs to testify against Doctor. Super McEvil and the Confrontational Clause is brought up? Can Icon keep his identity secret and still testify?

Interesting question. As the video mentioned, the easy why out is having some law or amendment that allows superheroes to testify in court without revealing their identities (cf. DC 12th amendment). However, since superhumans are a new phenomena in this world, it is unlikely that such a law/amendment has been created yet. So, I don't really know the answer.

I suppose they could just plead the Fifth? Eventually a Law might be helpful. Or I suppose some Criminals could just get away Scot free because there's not a lot of evidence against them save the hearsay the Heroes gave the Police. I mean that's all it would be. "Say Icon mind testifying in court? We're gonna need you to reveal your identity but this Super Evil guy has done some bad stuff but we haven't had a lot to pin on him."

I can't see Icon agreeing to that. I mean it defeats the purpose of a secret identity yet. It would still probably eat away at him knowing full well he could have put someone away (Until they get out which they will)

It's probably best not to consider the legal implications too far. Before even getting to anything as complicated as Heroes testifying in court, when you look at it from a legal perspective the Heroes are the ones who are committing crimes. Unless the government forms some kind of sanctioned organisation which Heroes can sign up for, any time they fight crime they're essentially vigilantes.

I guess you just have to foil whatever plan the supervillains carry out and hope they are already wanted for other crimes, so you can just drop them off at a police station without having to testify.

@MelonHead I suppose that's the best answer as terrible as the thought of letting Villains go free can be. I mean until there's a reason for there to be a law to protect heroes that's the best we can hope for right now.
