Something like New Year, just that the Lunar/Chinese Calander is about 1 month apart, so we celebrate New Year one month late, we go to grandparents' house, receive Otoshidama/red packets, eat dinner, and gamble those money on Blackjack

Yeah I know about Chinese New Year, I just didn't realise it had already rolled by XD
Being Australian, it never really came up that often as it's not really a major tradition here.

Yeahh, I mostly slept at home throughout Christmas as a Taiwanese, our family doesn't celebrate it much, most of us aren't in Santa Claus' good list here o3o ~~

Eh each to their own I suppose. Christmas is more a predominant in Christian countries after all (BTW I am atheist myself, as in I have no religion, am interested in no religion and in general completely disagree with religion XD)

I am a bit religious heheh, my religion is something like Shinto/Greek religion, there are a lot of Gods, like King Enma for example, but my family offer joss sticks to Guanyin(or Kannon in Japanese), and we burn alot of incenses & the dead's money on the 7th month ^_^ ~~

Hmm... I thought Christmas is mostly about Santa Claus & his Reindeer O.o ~~

Well actually Christmas is a christian holiday to start with. It celebrates the birth of Jesus, who was apparently born December 25th. I never cared much for Christmas besides an excuse to eat some food and catch up with some family.
Santa Claus came later. Pretty sure he was introduced by Coke Cola or something. Anyway Santa Claus was based off Saint Nicholas, basically a guy who helped out some prostitutes. Not too sure how he ties in with the whole mess, but he does
Not entirely sure on the origin's other than bits and pieces, but it is always fascinating learning the origins of such mainstream holidays in the western world.
Such as Easter or Halloween. Both started off as religious festivities (At least I think Halloween was religious >.>). The origins of both are fairly interesting reads. As is most festivals and holidays.
