A group of college-aged friends gather in an apartment. Summer has finally come around, and rather then head to the beach, go outside or do anything boring like that, the first day of summer vacation begins with what they consider to be the best thing in the world: A VIDEO GAME MARATHON!
Busting out the NES, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Gameboys, PSP, Dreamcast, N64, DS, Playstations, Xboxes, and their Laptops, these friends are ready for the greatest week-long tournament of the champions, to see which one among them is the ultimate gamer! Loaded with a couple kegs of beer, energy drinks, pop, chips, and enough delivery pizza to choke a Ninja Turtle, these gamer guys and gals are ready for anything... Except what happened next.
The lights go out, and I mean everything. TV's, laptops, handheld games, even the sunlight peeping through the curtains. Everything goes dark. An old CRT in the corner powers on, the low-grey glow becoming the lone source of light. It suddenly begins to grow brighter and brighter, until a blinding flash of light from this old television becomes a vortex, a portal to another world, that sucks the gamers inside, bringing them to a place that none of them could have possibly imagined- The Mainframe, a digital realm where fact becomes fiction, and fiction becomes fact. Upon their arrival, they learn of a grave threat to our world, a viral scourge called The Default who have taken over the DataCore, the central processing unit of both the Mainframe and the Earth's internet. The only way to stop them and return home is by travelling into the Game Realms that make up the network of Mainframe, defeat the Default-infected Bosses, and gather mystical artifacts that together make up the access code to the DataCore.
Armed with the power of their chosen game mastery and ready to face this gauntlet of game worlds before them, The Gamer Squad steps forward as the Title Screen comes up, playing an epic pixel tune, preparing them for the awesomeness that lays ahead. A sole option appears on the massive door before them, containing the portals to the game worlds:
So, as you've probably guessed by the little overview I've written up, this RP will centre around a group of gamers who are pulled into a video game and must defeat the many evil Bosses in order to escape. Think something along the lines of "Captain N: The Game Master" or "ReBoot"
This will combine elements from our favorite gaming companies (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, SEGA, Capcom, ect) and our favorite game series (Super Mario, Little Big Planet, Halo, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, and more!) This will be a very relaxed and comedic RP (although we'll definitely have to get serious at certain points), where the characters simply try to interact with the worlds around them and most likely get into all kinds of jams (ex. In the Kirby world they would argue over killing the adorable enemies, while the Call of Duty or Halo world would reluctantly pit them against each other in a randomly generated death battle). Some worlds will change them and allow them upgraded versions of their gear (ex. Going to Skyrim will make all the equipment more medieval based, while landing on Planet Zebes will force the weapons and armor to get as futuristic as humanly possible)
So, let the games begin!
