The Vanitas Remnant, takes their attacks, sending it flying through the wall and out into the street. It quickly gets back up, but just as it does so, Terra is on it, attacking with brute strength, each hit causing a ton of damage. Terra and the Vanitas Remnant clash blades continuously. Terra calls to the others without turning around. "Hurry! get Ven to safety! I'll take care of this!" As he's talking, his foe manages to hit him with a slash to his torso, the wound dripping blood. Terra presses on, ignoring his wound and continuing to fight back with brute force.

Most people do as Terra asks, but Erza joins in the fight, striking out at the Vanitas Remnant.

I stand up and stretch. "It's cool, I needed to think about stuff anyways..."

This is basically what remains of him after Ventus finally won against him in the dream. If Terra and Erza defeat him, not only will he be gone, but Ventus will possibly awaken. This version of him is very strong and will put up a very good fight.

Terra doesn't complain about Erza joining in on the fight, for he recognized her as an excellent swordswoman a while ago when dealing with the Unversed prior to this new, stronger version of Vanitas. By now, the Vanitas Remnant has been taking many hits, but it seems to have a strong will to fight, for it gets back every time Erza and he knock it down. "He's almost out of the will to fight. Let's keep going!" He says to Erza as he strikes at the Vanitas Remnant as well.

After a while, we end up in a place with some actual freaking vegetation. A kind of field or something. "The Fields of Trenzalor... where no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer..."

Their efforts pay off as the Vanitas Remnant falls to the ground as a result. It gets back up one more time."Let's finish this!" Terra exclaims. Both he and the V. Remnant attack one another with a Zantetsuken, dealing one powerful samuraiesque blow to each other with their blades. The Vanitas Remnant falls, disappearing for good, but it leaves Terra with intense damage, resulting in him dropping his blade and collapsing fully to ground. "Augh!" Terra coughs up blood.

This is the first time in ages that I've had to defeat Vanitas. Heck, in a sense, that wasn't even him. It was just Ventus' memories past memories of him brought to life.
