I sell all of the basic stuff you need to play. Health potions or ammunition or whatever, depending on the genre—whatever the one thing is that you actually buy regularly. I sell it cheaper than every other vendor, too, and my stall is closest to where you first appear when you fast travel to the market.

The catch? My stall's closed for plot reasons. You need to do a fetch and rescue quest to save me from kidnappers for me to open my stall. You can't fast travel to the market after you kill my kidnappers, you need to walk all the way back to the market and keep me alive against waves of attackers along the way. Afterwards, when I open my stall, you need to go to a bunch of far-off locations and solve unintuitive puzzles, the answers to which you will almost certainly have to look up on the wiki; this will increase my favour towards you and gradually work towards the full discount for the shit you need.

I'm the helpful merchant whose shop is in a very populated and easily accessible area. My goods are shit but I have infinite money so you can get rid of your over-encumbrance and sell me all fifty of your leather gloves and short daggers.

Alternatively, I'm a completely unimportant merchant who happens to sell a unique item, so all the perfectionist gamers need to go back and scour through the entire game again to find me and buy that item.

I sell insects in glass jars, am a tad bit too eccentric, require going through a few lines too many of dialogue until the shop menu pops up, then give a side quest that seems mundane to start but ends with you crawling through the tunnels under my basement roasting car sized ants with a flamethrower.

The super ant quest in fallout 3 may or may not have been my favorite quest.

I sell witty comments that are generally random bullshit with tiny useful tidbits scattered in there (85%), partially duh "Did you know (something about a boss you killed 15 minutes ago) with a following comment of "Oh, you did that already? Oops." (5%) Something that ends with "zzz" and you get your money back (9%) Tiny chance of an easter egg (.5%) and finally the rare something ridiculously useful "Oh yeah, I picked this up after you one day. *plops a specialized sword that doubles your damage output on the ground*.

All at a price of only 750-1000 gold or so per comment.

I'll try to buy all the somewhat important stuff from other stalls and slowly release them with a decent price, before making it skyrocket in price, making sure to shoot the competitors down using my friends as pawns.

EDIT: Actually, just someone who sells not so important stuff for a very high price, just to make newbies waste their money on it.
