Appearance: As a Reaper, Daisy can appear as anything from an eighty-year-old Black man to a four-year-old Korean girl, depending on the souls she reaps, and what makes them most comfortable, or, at the very least, most amenable to the fact that they're dead.
In general, she chooses the appearance of a teenage girl with green eyes, freckles, and bubblegum pink hair. It's a pastel this time, because she's matured. That said, she still wears a lot of pink.
A handful of former and current B&H employees have seen her true form, somewhat similar to the form she often chooses, insofar as being a teenaged girl. That, however, is where the similarities end. She really prefers not to discuss, or even acknowledge this form, and will exert whatever extra energy it takes, even in Death, to remain cute, pink, and bubbly.
Powers + TraitsThe Walk: Offense, Transportation, Minor HealingDaisy's primary talent is her ability to enter Death (based largely on
Garth Nix's Nine Precincts), with or without others in tow. Unlike other Reapers, Daisy can take a soul into Death (though not beyond the shallow-watered Gates) without killing them, and is able to transport several physical bodies at once, though the process is draining.
Due to certain events immediately following the uncovering of the missing Pieces of Eights, Daisy has made herself a powerful target for many of the greater dead who exist on this side of the gates, most of them seeking to use her as a conduit to return to life.
While in Death, Daisy can:
- cover great distances in very little time, provided a dying soul is somewhere nearby
- heal minor wounds
- slow imminent Death (though not forever, by any stretch of the imagination)
- communicate with denizens of the dead
- move from the Gates to deeper realms/planes of the dead to confront greater souls
The Scythe: DefenseAs you might expect, Daisy has a Scythe. It is an ethereal weapon she generally keeps 'hidden'. Summoned in life, it can take on the appearance of anything from a pen to a motherfucking trident (or a Keyblade, if you're into that sort of thing) [
default form]. In Death, it takes on its true form. As with all Reaper Scythes, the Scythes appears according to the soul of the Reaper who wields it. Daisy's is more than twice as long as she is tall with a shaft made of translucent obsidian. The blade appears to be made of a violet-white light made solid.
The Scythe is the only tool Daisy can use to lead a soul into Death (aka, kill that sumbitch). It is unequivocally more powerful in Death than in life, though on this side of the realm, it can still cause a healthy dose of damage.
Shifting: Defense, ReconAs previously mentioned, Daisy, like all Reapers, can take on a variety of human forms. Hey, is that your dead twin brother over there? NOPE. It's Daisy.
Artie: Offense, Defense, TrackingArtemis (see below) is Daisy's overgrown puppy of a hellhound. He has teeth and claws and, in his true form (invisible to all humans and most mortals), is about the size of a Honda Civic. He is impervious to fire, but susceptible to holy water, iron, and silver. A pentagram'll do him pretty good, too. He can, like Daisy, sense Death in all forms, and is a decent match for all but the greatest of the undead. He can also track all mystic, pentecostal, supernatural, or other such items with his nose.
He does not require food, water, or rest, but he really, really,
really likes a good dog treat.
Limitations:Contrary to popular belief, (most)
Reapers cannot actually kill their targets, though they are capable of injuring and severely weakening them. Daisy is able to send a soul beyond the Gates, though for reasons unknown, this is, like, super bad news.
Daisy
cannot reanimate or revive a soul who has moved beyond the Gates.* NOTE: Some restrictions may apply.
Daisy
cannot kill an immortal creature.
Daisy
cannot heal a creature/being who cannot die.
Daisy
cannot be killed, as most mortal creatures, simply by moving beyond the Gates of Death. She
can be killed within Death, though, again, this would be a bad thing.
Daisy
cannot stand it when you pop your gum like that. Don't do it.
HistoryDaisy's knowledge of her own history is spotty, to say the least. She has a vague recollection of waking up one day, or one night, or one something, in a large, flat, sepia-colored plane she would later come to recognize as the Gates of Death.
An old dude stood over her. He offered her a chance to 'live', and then never really gave her the opportunity to say no.
Daisy has, in her time as a Reaper, gathered a few things so far:
- She's dead. At some point, she died. Violently. She has no memory of how and no knowledge of why. Certain circumstances have led her to believe it might be best that way.
- There are many, many Reapers in the world, both Veiled and otherwise. For whatever reason, Daisy is outstanding in her field.
- For the aforementioned reasons, Daisy is not very popular in the realm of Death. Well, let's rephrase that. She is well-known, but she is, in no way, well-liked.
She had been with B&H for a little over a year when the Pieces of Eight case fell into their laps. Following a series of unfortunate events, Daisy ragequit to continue being a lovesick teenager who just happened to moonlight as a servant of Death. While not particularly good at the idea of 'friendship', she holds a (somewhat reluctant) soft spot for Henry, is/was loyal to Atticus (though she's still a little pissy about what happened to Max/Thad), and only rarely leaves Veti's side, though guilt tends to make their conversations incredibly awkward. Still, she feels beholden to the werewolf, even to the point of being a little overprotective.
Daisy also holds herself responsible for the Death of two former B&H members (including Veti's former beau, whom she was reluctant to kill in the first place). She is very careful to hide her guilt from others, though, quite frankly, she's a teenage girl who pretty much wears whatever heart she has right out there on her sleeve.
BONUS!This is Artemis, aka Artie, Daisy's pet/slightly overprotective hell hound. A loyal demon straight from the depths of Hell, Artie's soul was bound to Daisy's when she became a Reaper. Like Daisy, he can take a variety of forms, though all are restricted to solid black members of the canine/vulpine family. While he is much less reluctant to show his
true form (again, something only a few members of B&H have seen), he generally only does so in Death, and only when he feels his charge is in danger.
Also like Daisy, has a difficult time taking anything seriously.
He also has yet to differentiate Cornelius from a chew toy. By his logic, if it
isn't a chew toy, it shouldn't squeak.
