Name:
Li Yang (Surname is Li, given name is Yang)
Gender:
Male
Appearance:
Personality:
A fairly humble young man. He's quite reserved and can often be shy, mostly around powerful and/or influential people. Fancies himself a heroic type, though that's more a dream based off his grandfather's old tales. He's still nice, but no where near as brave or strong as he wants to be. While not exactly "lazy", he's fairly simple and lacks ambition. A creature of habit who's habit is easy-going with occasional pride in his work. Unafraid of youkai, though he does have a healthy amount of caution and has a general policy of "Don't piss off strangers" so he doesn't have to worry about their power. However Yang is not religious and generally distances himself from the gods or other religions like Buddhism and Taoism. He will pay his respects, but he won't give them faith.
Species:
Human
Abilities:
As standard for all Gensokians, Yang can fly. He is able to achieve this thanks to his telekinetic powers, which while powerful enough to allow him to fly around easily, it has a very short range. So short it can only work on either himself or things that he is close enough to touch. Thus, he mainly uses his telekinesis to bolster his physical abilities. Yang is notoriously bad at Danmaku, having never won any duels he enters. While he has had a few close wins, they were only against opponents on easy modo. Previously he's only fought Danmaku duels using kunai, though he's currently trying to learn how to use illusions to create a wider variety of spells. Only problem is that he hasn't found a teacher yet, and the only illusions he can create are said kunais.
Skills:
One of Yang's few noteworthy skills his is swordsmanship, which was taught to him by his father, which was taught throughout Yang's ancestors. It is a dual wielding style that utilize Butterfly Swords. Despite his considerable skill, Yang has never actually gotten into a real fight where he would need to use his swords, either managing to scare off his opponents or doing danmaku instead. He mostly does it as a form of exercise and dance, and on festivals he would put on shows where he does his techniques with (Fake) flaming swords.
Aside from that, Yang has many useful skills for a laborer, supplemented by his telekinesis. He's as strong as an ox and can often pull wagons that would require many oxen or horses to haul, and thanks to his youth he has plenty of energy to work long and hard. Yang is mainly a carpenter and can often be seen wherever there is construction. A fairly talented carpenter himself, he actually made his own home (A shack) within a week when he was still a boy, and it has been in good condition since. All he needs is a sturdy blade and access to raw materials, and he could make you a home or building within a month by himself.
Yang likes to boast his skill at throwing knives, though while he's certainly competent enough to throw a knife and get it to land pointy-end in, compared to other knife throwers Yang is mediocre. He does, however, have a knack for throwing things that aren't aerodynamically suited for throwing, typically his rice hat. But he can throw just about anything he can pick up with decent accuracy.
Lastly, Yang has a very good taste. If he tastes something, he could often identify the ingredients down to the detail, though obviously he can't really know things he's never tasted before. His sense of taste has allowed him to become a pretty good chef, and he hopes to one day open a restaurant once he figures out important things like where it'd be, what he'd serve, how he'd get food, etc.
Brief Backstory:
Yang is the only child of the Li Family. Much like the Hakurei clan, they once protected Gensoukyou of various threats. However overtime the relationships between the humans and youkai improved, and ultimately the need for people like the Li family decreased. While they still hold pride in their martial ability, most family members now pursue other interest and occupations. Yang grew up on his grandfather's epic tales of battles that the Li family fought in, and dreams of having such tales of his own. However between these fantasies and imaginative streaks, Yang is but a common laborer with more humble desires to open up a restaurant, though he lacks the drive to start.
If Yang isn't working for someone, he is either training his family's martial arts form, cooking/eating, or trying to find a teacher to improve his illusion magic. He has a fairly small shack located near at the Misty Lake, right across the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Yang has a crush on the gatekeeper, but is too nervous/scared of the SDM's master and maid to approach without a good reason. Has a small garden where he grows sugarcane and spices.
