[IC] Pokémon Battle Frontier

"Just know that not only is this gym'snew leader a former Champ, rumor has it that he also has Mega Evolution. " Liam warned.

"Well, now we're on an even playing field!" he said, heading towards Viridian.

"I'm sure that you'll come out on top." Liam said

[Azure Flame]

"Yeah, me and my team are ready for anything!" he said. "Heck, we could even win the tournament and be the next Champions!"

"Be careful not to get too far ahead of yourself." Liam said as the heroes entered Viridian City.

[Azure Flame]

"I know, I'm confident, but not cocky."

"Well, I say that after a quick pit stop at the Pokémon Center, we go to the gym so you can get the last badge. "

"Which is a simple trek up Routes 27, 26 and 22," added Shiranui.

The Pokémon Center came into view. Liam entered and handed over his Pokémon for healing.

Shiranui handed his Pokémon in for healing, musing over the fact that the Viridian City Pokémon Contest was his last chance to qualify for the Kanto Grand Festival.

Liam was thinking about what Pokémon he would bring to the final Frontier Facility.

Once they arrived in Viridian, Chuck headed straight for the gym. There he met Blue and said "I, Chuck North from Lumiose City in the Kalos Region, challenge you to a gym battle!" Blue accepted and the battle began.

First, Blue sent out Tyrannitar and Chuck sent out Nissa the Clefable. Tyranitar used Stone Edge, but Nissa dodged and unleashed a Moonblast, scoring a direct hit, launching it into the wall, and KOing it.

Up next was Gyarados, who got a clean hit with an Iron Tail, knocking out Nissa. Chuck then sent out Tesla the Jolteon. Gyarados tried to force it out with a Dragon Tail, but Tesla was able to jump over it and fired off a Thunderbolt, dealing massive damage due to the double weakness, scoring Chuck another KO.

Blue then sent out Exeggutor. Chuck recalled Tesla and sent out Azriel the Alakazam. Both stood there, having a mental battle, both using Psychic on eachother, however Azriel was able to overpower Exeggutor's mind, and sent it flying across the room, getting another KO.

Out came Pidgeot and, unfortunately for Azriel, Blue had recently come back from the Alola Region, and managed to pick up a Z-Ring and a Z-Crystal. Pressing it, and doing a special pose, Pidgeot was able to turn it's U-Turn into Savage Spin-out, dealing massive super effective damage to the Alakazam, and knocking it out. Chuck decided to combat flying with flying, and sent out Tri the Dodrio. They both clashed, Aerial Ace to Aerial Ace, however Pidgeot had the advantage in the fact it could actually fly, while Tri was unable to, it could only jump high enough to clash. So it wasn't long until Pidgeot was able to overpower Tri and knock it out. Chuck then sent out Titan the Golem, who was able to easily take down the weakened Pidgeot, with a Smackdown/Earthquake combo.

Next was Arcanine, who retaliated with a Sunny Day/Solar Beam combo, which easily took out Titan. Down to two Pokémon each, Chuck sent out Zenni who got Arcanine good with Hydro Pump, forcing it against the wall while it's cannons continued unleashing a torrent of water until it couldn't take anymore and was KOed.

Finally, Blue was down to his last Pokémon, Blastoise. Both activated their keystones, and it was a Mega Blastoie beatdown between the two of them, unleashing pulse moves left and right. However, still being new to it, Zenni couldn't keep up the pressure and was KOed. Both down to their last Pokémon, Chuck sent out Tesla, who was able to easily avoid the Mega Blastoise's attacks with it's superior speed. By now, the Sunny Day had faded, and Chuck took a chance on Thunder. He got lucky and scored a direct hit, knocking out the already weakened Mega Blastoise, and earning Chuck his 8th and final badge.

Liam congradulated his friend on the good job. Now, they just needed to watch Shiranui in the contest and see if he got his fifth ribbon.

"Thanks Liam, I wasn't expecting that from the Pidgeot though, I guess that's what they call Z-moves." he went to the Pokémon Center to heal his team, and gave them a nice long rest for doing a great job.

"Yeah, I didn't know Blue had that either." Liam admitted. "Since he has both Mega Evolution and a Z move he is likely one of the strongrest Gym Leaders in the world.

[Azure Flame]

"Yeah, but not exactly surprised either, I mean he is a former Champion as well." Chuck said. "But that means that he must have spent some time in Alola as well."

Shiranui saw Chuck's battle and was somewhat glad he wasn't facing Blue for an Earth Badge; though he admitted to himself that Giovanni was still far more of a challenge at the time he battled at the gym.

With his contest plans sorted out, he made a call to Prof. Oak and had a party ready.

Liam went to the contest hall and took a seat in the stands. He noticed other cooridiantors, such as Harley, in the seats as well. Liam figured Harley might be trying to do some resarch on possible opponents, as cooridnators will be competing very hard to get that final badge.

Shiranui went to the Contest Hall, registered for the contest and was soon in the green room preparing his Ball Capsules.

The Contest started and Shiranui was the last coordinator to make his appeal. He had Zoro show off various legendary Pokémon and their signature moves, all done through illusions. Needless to say he got a perfect score for that performance.

His entrant for the Battle Round was the legendary Diancie named Diamanda. Shiranui blitzed through the quarter final through point depletion and breezed through the semi-final after Diamanda knocked out a Jynx with Diamond Storm. During the grand final match, Diamanda was against an Arbok and Arbok tried to use Glare, but Shiranui played his ace in the hole when he Mega Evolved Diamanda. Diamanda's Magic Bounce reflected the Glare right back and Arbok was paralysed instead. The battle was over when Diamanda showed off an Explosion that gave Shiranui the win through knockout and point depletion.

Shiranui had won his fifth ribbon and qualified for the Kanto Grand Festival.
