"Blissey, Heal Pulse on Smaug! Smaug Focus Blast Yamamoto!" Blissey healed her partner and Smaug fired the attack at the Tyranitar, since it just used Protect, it had a high fail chance, meanng odds were not be negated by the green shield.

"Yamamoto, Dig at Blissey!" Hoshi returned for another attack while Yamamoto went underground, avoiding Smaug's attack.

"Smaug! It's time for the Meteor strategy." Smaug swooped down and grabbed Blissey. He began to use Seismic Toss on her, fliging her toward the ground. She slammed her fist on the ground, using Earthquake. Yamamoto would take severe damage from being underground when Earthquake goes off, not to mention to points Shiranui would lose from the combo.

Yamamoto burst out of the ground and attacked Blissey while Hoshi swooped in for a third Rollout attack on Smaug. The Mega Tyranitar had survived the Earthquake purely because of Blissey's very low physical stats. Shiranui had indeed lost a lot of points from the combo and the time was up after his Pokémon executed their attacks.

Blissey and Smaug were both tired, the scoreboard showed that Liam had barely pulled into the lead on points with the risky maneuver.
"The winner of the Kanto Grand Festival is, 'Dragon Master' Liam Coleman!" The crowd began to cheer loudly. Mr. Contesta came forward and presented Liam with the trophy. Liam thanked him and held the trophy proudly over his head for the whole audience to see. Afterward, Contesta took the mike.
"I want to thank not just all of our skilled coordinators, but our lovely audience for a fantastic Grand Festival!I hope everyone has a safe journey home, and remember in one month's time on this very stage, the Indiago Leauge Tournament will be taking place, so be sure to come back and cheer those hard working trainers on". The crowd cheered as his words.
Afterward, Liam carefully wrapped up the trophy and put it in a box to be shipped home, as that would be the safest way to get it there. He did this while Smaug and Blissey were healed. He praised them for their hard work afterward.

Chuck ran down with his parents to congratulate them both, wondering when the tournament would start.

Shiranui praised Hoshi and Yamamoto while they were healing and had Poké puffs at the ready for all the Pokémon he had used during his Grand Festival run.

"You both fought really hard, it was such a close match!" he said, still surprised at the turnout.

[James Davy]

"What can I say?" replied Shiranui, "Liam and I are both equally good."

[Azure Flame]

"Well, I can't wait to face you in the Pokémon League." he said, excited even more now.

[James Davy]

"Do well enough and you will," Shiranui encouraged.

[Azure Flame]

"Oh, I'm sure I will. We haven't been training in our free time for nothing!" he said, smirking.

[James Davy]

"Overconfidence can leave you blind to the element of surprise," rebutted Shiranui, "Keep your feet on the ground and your eyes on the prize and you can achieve all your goals."

Liam thanked Chuck and his parents.

Before too to long, the month before the tournament came and went. Being the reigning champion, Shiranui had no reason to be entered into the tournament, as he would face the winner, provided they also beat the Elite Four. Over five days, the 342 contestants had been dwindled down to eight.

The eight were shuffled into the following match ups for full six-on-six battles

• Harrison vs Nando
• Mike Featar vs Paul
• Liam Coleman vs Conway
• Chuck North vs Virgil

Harrison managed to defeat Nando, although Krikitune and Roserade made it difficult for him. Harrison advanced having all but Blaziken knocked out.

Liam would also adjust his team for his next battle.

Shiranui had been watching the battles from the spectator box he was assigned, noting some of the strategies he saw.

Chuck prepared himself and his team, having trained the entire time up until the tournament. He saw he woukd be up against Virgil and said to himself "We can do this! We've come this far!"

"Virgil is an interesting opponent." Liam stated. "He uses Eevee and its various evolutions. Personally, I wish I was the one facing him."

[Azure Flame]

"That certainly is interesting." he said. "Good luck with your match, I hope to see you in the next round."

"Back at you. " Liam said with a smile.

Chuck gave him a thumb's up and went to watch the next match.
