Did anybody have any close runner-ups when choosing their character(s)?

For me, I had a bit of a difficult time.

Characters that barely didn't make it

2 in one picture, actually. Dan Hibiki AND Cirno. They were my original choices.


I'm glad I didn't choose this fat prick, Wario, since we got Mr. L. He was going to be the local asshole.


Sadly too overpowered just by existing, but the Gun/Rap God Yung Venuz himself was something I considered.


Aah, Nick. Lucian and Sal are the only ones who will remember the dynamic trio he was once apart of.

I was pretty set in stone about Pridemoor. I've been dying to play him forever. Before Kled though, I was gonna pick League's version of Wukong. Though that's kinda overpowered character-wise...

Hmmm... If we're talking about runner-ups, I do have a few. Admittedly, I was similarly set on Star Guardian Jinx (normal Jinx is just a tad too kooky for my liking, so God bless Rito).

With Jibanyan, however, I had a couple of other choices as well. I was thinking of using Jin Kazama from the Tekken series at first since he would feel at home in the foresty village and was himself a decent fighter. I also considered Ky Kiske and Sol Badguy from the Guilty Gear series, but, with Ky, we already had Sans and, with Sol, Fuma, so I decided to bring in Jibanyan to add a more unorthodox species into the village.

To answer your question @Raddum, I kept bumming around a wide variety of video games and a few anime and manga trying to narrow down who I wanted to play as.

I seriously considered dragging out a Zelda character but the question would be which one and from which timeline. I kept going back to the Mega Man franchise what with the insane selection within each individual game let alone series. In general I kept crossing back to digital life-forms such as NetNavis, .hack// players (or even AIs), and so on. I even considered old favorites like Marina Liteyears and Waffle Ryebread (I know the name is very very silly but policedogman in a mini-mecha is just pure silly fun). As much as I like Puella Magi I refuse to inflict Witches or QB on any setting and the same more or less goes for bringing Kingdom Hearts and a surprising number of Squaresoft, Enix, and Square-Enix titles.

@Raddum As much as I sympathized her Midna just bugged me. I could play her but I wouldn't want to. Link from any era, a blending of Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time Ganondorf wish a dash of Twilight Princess for build and Hylian atrocities, the Twinrova, Volvagia, the Oracle Nayru... Heck I'd do a Skull Kid before Midna or any of the Fairies.

Unfortunately it is some sort of hivemind or has a very rapid clone respawn. So dead and/or blown to pieces doesn't last.

Not at all, in fact. I think the interaction would be quite funny because he is is a Youkai. Granted Fuma isn't prejudice to all Youkai as some help him on his quest.
