While I can't/won't go into any details regarding the grim reaper in this thread (I'd have to save that for PM), I don't know if it'd fit the atmosphere to have a 'Monokuma' running around, per se. Granted, the sort of thing you've mentioned isn't something that's unheard of in anime, but we're aiming for a fairly serious/mature tone to this story -- obviously excluding any humour the players end up bringing to the stage due to what's appropriate for the guests of this little shindig. I've got quite a few NPC characters in the woodwork right now, but I can't really detail any of them without spoilers.

Edit: I figured I'd fix a typo that got mentioned. I've only just woken up after the train wreck that was this morning.

Monokuma... Got it mixed up with another character's name. I'm not coherently yet. If it's not clear, I was put into a very bad state yesterday thanks to sleep deprivation and stress, and, honestly, I haven't really recovered from the mental half of it yet.

Anyway, big update for the interest check coming soon. I'll probably ping you all.

I was not entirely serious with the idea. But virtue's last reward also had a puntastic animal that mocked the contestants.

My theory about comedy VS drama is that when done right, they feed off of each other. A joke that makes light of a tragedy is that much funnier, and a joke that ends in tragedy brings that much more despair. Of course when done poorly they just cancel each other out and not much of anything is achieved.

I did 'Murokuma' there, not 'Murakumo'. The ironic thing is that it's a mistake I never make when I'm speaking, only typing. I've got a lot of typos like that though -- sometimes my body just will not bloody write what I'm thinking in my head. I blame stress, and sleep deprivation, and oxygen deprivation, and---

Yeah, there seems to be a few different Japanese takes on the genre that have implemented similar asshole mascots. Arguably, Lucifer is fulfilling the role you're referring to, but I imagine it'll be treated and come off differently.

Dark comedy works for some people and doesn't work for others, so it can be as much about subjective tastes as it can be about whether or not it's handled poorly, but overall I agree with what you're saying under the context that this sort of drama is what the audience enjoys. While I'm aware that several (not all) of the people joining this role-play are fans of Danganronpa or 999, I don't want to obligate myself to copy those works, especially when I never said I would. I'm not implying you're suggesting I do it though, so this is mostly trivia.

It's been a pretty irritating day so far, and I'm still not making any progress with work, but I'm trying to fix my pattern again.

I noticed you saw my recent update in the interest check. Any opinions or comments regarding what I've brought up? Obviously, don't ask those things here, since it's better if everyone sees it in that thread, but I'm curious if there's anything.

Hopefully the character sheet goes well for you. I'm planning to have the template up for GRG's character sheet in the next few hours.

I didn't have the time to check it in full detail. I plan to go back to it and give it my full attention later today once I have a better chance of being able to do so.

It'll be interesting to see what you bring to the role-play. Just so you (and others reading) know, there's two character sheets. One of them is public information that gets posted into the thread, and the other one is private information that's sent to me over a PM. This is to prevent you guys from knowing the histories and wishes of each other before they get discovered through the IC.
