The Mysteries of Awilix is a space/fantasy roleplay set on a distant planet far, far away. This roleplay has been a concept of mine that has been continually tweaked and modified ever since it's very first iteration almost 3 years ago under the previous name of "Escaping Extinction". While the overall design may be different through each generation there are a few key factors that have always remained the same.

» The Roleplay is always set in the distant future on mysterious planet.
» Mankind will be challenged with their right to survive, both through their own actions and the will of the universe.
» The world is filled with an assortment of mysteries and secrets, created by both players and the GMs.

For the most part this roleplay will be a mixture of some Slice of Life, Adventure and maybe some traces of Action on top. I do have a few plot elements thought up as possibilities along with a log term expansion goal, but I've never been the type of person to lead an audience on a grand journey of wonder and awe through story telling and narrative. In a nut shell I'm more of a creator and a designer. I can whip up mysteries and twists for my own characters but tend to have difficulty driving other players with manufactured objectives. If you keep that in mind you should enjoy this RP quite well.

A celestial object known as Lunosity's Comet was discovered at the turn of the century on the outer edges of the Sol System. It was granted the power of an unshakable path, a path that would lead into the largest meteor impact seen since the dinosaurs. It was only a matter of decades before the human race would cease to exist and widespread panic engulfed the very world itself, plunging it into a period where despair and sadness flooded the very lands.

H U M A N I T Y ' S L A S T H O P E
In a desperate attempt to challenge the will of the universe the leaders of humanity bonded together to create the Noah II, a space craft with the capabilities of transporting 100 million, cryogenically frozen bodies to the outer regions of space. It was on the 11th hour of the impact that the vessel finally left Earth's atmosphere, set on a predetermined course for the nearest inhabitable planet. As with all good plans variables were missed, surprises were discovered and the last few decades of preparation were almost all for naught as they left their home world for the first and last time.

The Noah II had managed to guide itself into an uncharted cloud of debris that originated from Lunosity's Comet itself. With heavy damage to the outer hull, a mass power loss resulting in the death of millions of sleepers and a contamination breach that was unable to be resolved, the transport was plunged into turmoil leaving speculation for whether avoiding the destiny of death was nothing more than an illusion.

T H E A C Q U I S I T I O N O F A W I L I X
It was five years later when the Noah II eventually reached it's final destination, Awilix. This small moon is a satellite beaming with an endless variety of flora and fauna. Much of it's surface is blanketed in a thick jungle that spreads from the highest of mountain ranges to the lowest of valleys. Oddly enough there is little in the way of large oceans but rivers, lakes and streams spread their roots throughout every crevice, ravine and gully, leaving many to believe that the plant life is nurtured by a mixture of bore water and underground seas. Awilix itself orbits a dead shell of a planet, a parental rock appropriately named Husk.

Husk is a very different world compared to Awilix. It is a lifeless body with a deep crater that spreads over a third of it's entire surface, leaving it's exposed core visible to anyone that casts their gaze up to the pseudo moon. The core itself glows with an intense heat, forming a dim, orange hue that warms up the coldest of nights.

On the surface of Awilix there now lies a one month old city known as The City of Landing or simply Landing. Landing was formed when a Noah II drop pod that was launched down towards the inhabitable surface, touching-down on a location that has a perfect view of it's parent world throughout it's day and night. With every passing day the city expands, carving it's way through the jungle and wilderness, slowly growing like a virus to cater for the millions of people that are trying desperately to survive.

T H E D I S C O V E R Y O F L U N O S
Upon awakening from their slumber the remaining surviving members of the human race began to notice several abnormalities and changes to their bodies. This sparked a period of widespread confusion and concerned, resulting in an immediate investigation. What they discovered was the most peculiar of discoveries.

The Human genome had been altered, a section of DNA twisted and manipulated by the very contamination that had infected the Noah. Five years of being untreated had resulted in each and every human being granted a unique, magic like ability; allowing people to control the very elements around them, to perform tasks that were previously impossible. These abilities were dubbed the name Lunos, a tribute to the comet itself, and many viewed it as the next step of human evolution.

While there are endless possibilities to what abilities one would gain, a series of key traits were discovered.

» A Lunos does not vastly alter the appearance of one's body.
While there have been some noticeable changes, there have not been any recorded cases where the human body has changed to something that is far beyond human.
» Lunos acts in the same way as magic casting.
A Lunos ability takes time to master as it is a skill as well as a power. Lunos also uses the body's natural energy meaning that the person's fitness, stamina, mental health and food intake will affect it's overall usability. Each user will need to learn where their limits lie and how their Lunos affects them as an individual.
» Not all Lunos will have positive effects.
A large majority of Lunos users have abilities that are classed as safe, manageable, or completely useless. For the small minority there are abilities that can be quite dangerous, not only to the individual themselves but those that may be around them.
» When a Lunos is in use the user's eyes will glow a gold colour.
Some users may have a permanent gold shade in their eyes while others may only express a quick flash. The general rule that seems to be expressed by the people is that whenever the ability is activated the eyes will change colour.

E V E N T S O F C U R R E N T
One month after the arrival on Awilix and the City of Landing has become quite a busy location with much of the local population set to immediate work in helping expand the metropolis into the nearby jungle. A large portion of these people were given the important task of bulldozing the surrounding foliage in order to make room for a bombardment of drop pod style homes, all launched towards the surface directly from the Noah II. Others were sent off on exhibitions to learn about the surrounding areas, catalogue the available resources and discover any traces of past civilisations; no stone was to be left unturned.

Due to the delicacy of terraforming an urban environment onto a foreign planet only 20% of the population has been awaken and sent down to Awilix with the remaining humans still sleeping in hibernation. The current plan is for 5 percent of the population to be sent down to the new home world every three months, a four year plan that aims in introducing the entire human species successfully onto the moon. Sadly of the remaining total approximately 30 million humans were discovered to have passed away during the journey. This is mostly due to the stresses of deep space hibernation, the intensity of the Lunos contamination and failure in the cryogenic management system within certain sectors.

Unfortunately the act of trying to replicate thousands of years of history into a single month only brings about an endless list of problems. Without a fully functional government, a lack of agriculture, a disjointed military force, and the chaos of Lunos, a series of crime and corruption has begun to leech it's way into the city. Rumours of black market dealings have travelled like Chinese whispers, a recent document was found showing a series of high profile criminals that managed to secure a spot on the Noah II's short list, and murmurs of a psychopathical killer known as Eidolon are amongst the many problems that are slowly erupting.

Nothing more can be said except that with each passing day humanity will eventually uncover The Mysteries of Awilix.

Technology has advanced quite remarkably ever since the first sightings of Lunosity's Comet with every day bringing about something new and exciting.

T H E N O A H I I
The Noah II is the most complex creation that humanity has ever bought to life, a godly sized spacecraft who's sole purpose is to transport as much of the human population away from Earth as possible. It does so by placing the inhabitants into a deep hibernation, thus protecting their bodies along the harsh journey and only awakening them once they have reached their destination.

Once in orbit the space craft is be able to launch it's payload down onto the new home world planet. The first deployment that was issued was The City of Landing along with 20% of the entire population. The locals on the ground would have to work tooth and nail to ensure that they can create a suitable clearings for the subsequently smaller facility pods. These pods are able to spontaneously create an assortment of residential and industrial districts, eliminating the need for on world inhabitants to set up a traditional construction industry.

Inside the core of the galactic transport is a fully automated assembly center, a facility capable of building almost anything from micro satellites to personnel vehicles, from various robotics and even weapons. These items are then able to be shipped towards the city in a week by week basis or, in the case of satellites, sent into outer space. In order to prevent the population from abusing this system a financial exchange has been set up inside Landing, monitoring the work and income of each civilian.

Finally, the Noah II has been equipped with a uniquely crafted AI system; a slave conscious who's sole purpose is to assist the human race in it's quest for relocating to another world. The decision to make the Noah II self aware has resulted in little need for there to be any working personnel on the craft itself as the AI has the ability to perform it's own maintenance and daily rituals. For the people of Landing they barely have the opportunity to interact with the Noah interface directly, instead they will regularly receive job sheets and important information that allows them to go about their daily and working lives.

M E D I C A L S C I E N C E
The primitive days of surgeries and pills are almost fully forgotten, replaced with advanced medical healing pod and synthetic liquid concoctions. Rather than allowing the body heal itself the individual is placed into one of these capsules and falls into a brief coma, all whilst the artificial fluid is injected into the body. This fluid is able to reads the genetic structure of the patient, flow towards the damaged cells and reverse engineer any abnormalities that the body has experienced. It is an effective method of healing that only takes a few hours to complete. One limitation of this technology is that it can only reset the human body back to how it is described in the human genome, meaning that the Lunos ability can never be removed through this level of tech.

R O B O T I C S
If one was able to afford it they can purchase a personal droid. These robots come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours; never going beyond the size of an average human, never smaller than that of a football. They do not have a fully functional AI with most used as pets, security bots, or personal servants. Several robots have been shipped into the black market so they can be sold off and refurbished into something a little more exotic. Any individual caught with a black market bot is dealt with heavily, but with so many custom variations it has become a hard task to police the illegals from the authentic bots.

T R A N S P O R T A T I O N
The Noah II houses a large library of vehicular blueprints, selecting out the best options for the planet's unique conditions including ATBs, Wasps, Haulers, and Carriers.

All-Terrain-Bikes have become a very popular item within the limits of Landing due to the condensed nature of the city. These self-balancing vehicles allow the riders to nimbly duck in and out all the alleyways and street while taking up little room when placed within storage. They are useful on most hard terrains but have difficulty in soft and wet conditions.

Wasps are one of the smallest of flyers, a single person craft that can manoeuvre at breathtaking speed. They are excellent for scouting and regular patrols but lack any heavy armaments or protection. Most of these vehicles will be operated by authorities or loaned out to aspiring individuals.

Haulers are a two pilot craft, capable of lifting several tonnes of weight thanks to it's powerful, robust engines. These vehicles are slow, sluggish and lack all weapon capabilities.

Carriers are amongst the largest of craft that traverse the skies above Landing. With the capability to move approximately 1,000 civilians at any given time they are excellent for transporting people and workers around the city. Local authorities do have their own carriers which are heavily plated, allowing them to enter any dangerous areas relatively safely.

W E A P O N S
Gauss has become the industry standard for any firearms, a system that uses electronics and magnetism to fire a desired projectile faster, more accurate and with less wear and tear on the machine. Other types of projectiles available include laser and plasma but due to their inherent nature the weapons themselves can either be power hungry or dangerous to use.

Compared to the past on Earth there is a heavy emphasis on weapon registration and ownership within Landing. All shipment sent down from the Noah II are required to have an assigned user's ID before the weapon can be accessed or operated; a process designed to monitor any dangerous or criminal activity. While this system works well, it does not account for black market dealings and modifications.

Sometimes I dislike the fact that I have to add in rules when most people should know what they are doing in the first place, but alas, if I do not then I am only hindering the roleplay itself.

» Treat one another as you want to be treated
Yes I am going all religious on this one, but this should cover the majority of attitude based problems. Respect your GM and any Co-GMs, treat your fellow players with the decency that they deserve, and understand that my primary concern is the progression of this roleplay and the comfort of the players. Any individual who challenges that will be removed from the RP.
» Powerplaying, Metagaming, Godmodding, etc
Don't do it. If you do not understand any of these terms then please read this page: [Common Rules of Roleplaying]
» Posting and Collaborations
This roleplay will be moving along at a pace of about 1 or 2 posts per week, leaving enough time for each player to comfortably respond with a decent post. Any collaborate posts will not contain more than two players unless discussed with a GM or Co-GM. My reasoning is to prevent an accidental hold-up in the story progression while waiting for other players.
» The Inevitable Timeskip
If you have been paying attention to how the Noah II is populating Awilix you will notice that it will take several years to complete. I am planning a future timeskip much later down the line, which should be about 2-3 years. Not only will this allow players to start up later on, but it will aid in the plot progression.
» Discord [x]
I do have a Discord server set up for people that wish to chat. It's easy to join and will help connect you with your fellow players. Guild/RP rules will apply there so don't do anything to jeopardise your chances in participating.
» Inactivity and Dropping Players
Your own activity is your own concern. I will write out players that are unnecessarily inactive after a given amount of time, and I will not be chasing up players to post. If something should come up please inform me ahead of schedule.

A section for additional details that have been created throughout the roleplay by GMs and players alike. If you would like anything added and it will be a reoccurring piece in the roleplay, then pass me the details so I can review it and add it to the listing.

As in androids? No.
The most you will get is a artificial dog with an animal instinct program or a security bot with a protect and serve program, but these beings cannot think on their own, make decisions, or communicate beyond giving pre selected commands.

Edit: or do you mean aliens?

Ehhhh......... There's possibly ancient artifacts somewhere. At this point in time the answer is no to other, higher thinking lifeforms.

I mostly wanna set up the current world and make sure things are going smoothly before we expand into other territories, if it goes that route. That will vary depending on the eventual outcomes.

Colour me interested, just a quick question: does the character have to come with a picture? I prefer to just go with descriptions, but if the GM wants it, I can scrounge the net for a picture.

Tends to be care free and in high spirits. Keefer makes an effort to get along with everyone, even people who might not like him or visa versa. Regardless of their past or how they treat him, Keefer doesn't wish ill will on anyone. While he gets along well with most people, Keefer does like to keep to himself most of the time. Despite his apparent carefree nature, Keefer can become very serious when someone runs the risk of getting injured or killed. He tends to be more aggressive when using his lunos.

A P P E A R A N C E
Has shaggy brown hair and wears the cloth of the working man. Keefer has no problem being seen as a brainless grunt. Comfort is more important than design. Despite the disrepair his attire may be in, he has better hygiene than most people. A squeaky clean man in rugged clothes.

When he does go to socialize, he keeps to his motto of comfort before fashion. He's not so uncouth that he'd wear sweat pants to a birthday party however. He likes to layer his clothes, usually dark exterior shirts over brighter undershirts. Keefer is very much into versatile wear, like hoodies, and loves things with decals and symbols on them.

B A C K G R O U N D / H I S T O R Y
Keefer had what you would call a fairly boring past. He was raised in the country, and spent most of his teen years helping out on the farm or working as a handyman. He couldn't afford higher education, but eventually decided to specialize in construction. Everyone really liked Keefer's work ethic and quality, but he was kind of clumsy. Sometimes tools or things around the work site would just disappear. He always took responsibility, it was never anything of much value, so no one had the heart to punish him. It wasn't like Keefer was stealing, right?

It was a miracle that Keefer even got aboard the Noah II, being such an unremarkable human. His father was, however, and passed away from illness days after receiving an invitation to come aboard. Because they had near matching names, he was able to board unhitched. (Same first and last name, same middle initial. However because the middle name was different, he's not a Jr.)

His life hasn't changed much, save for the loss of everyone he ever knew and loved. His sister being the only exception. while it's not nearly as large an issue as Eidolon, some are concerned that Keefer looks two or three decades younger than his profile says it should. There's also the matter of his entirely different skill set.

He can not exclude people from it's effects, and the longer he keeps it activated the higher his blood pressure gets. This gradually makes him more aggressive, triggers his adrenaline, and can cause him physical harm if not properly managed.

Aside from his tools, Keefer doesn't really carry anything that can be used as a weapon. However, you never know what might disappear from a job site...

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Lenna is serious, and can be very intense during a disagreement. Jokes and small talk tend to annoy her, as she prefers to only talk about the task at hand. In relaxed settings she can be more approachable, but most are put off by her abrasive nature. Those that can deal with her rough edges often find her a dependable, passionate person.

Holla on the other hand tends to be bubbly and takes little of anything very seriously. Her flirty, friendly nature makes her easy to get along with. She can seem like a bit of a spaz, and has a reputation for being an air head. But those that know her are aware neither of those are true.

A P P E A R A N C E
Lenna likes to look business like, always in uniform, always with black curtain hair. This doesn't ever change, even when off the job site. You can feel her presence as a professional when she enters the room. This isn't to say she doesn't switch up her colors. Her favorite uniforms are white, grey, navy blue, and crimson. With an exception to white, Lenna tries to avoid wearing bright colors, and never wears black.

Holla on the other hand likes to look feminine and cute. That's what she'd tell you, but there are plenty of guys (and some girls) that find her outfits provocative as well. It isn't far from the truth to call her outfits costumes, as her clothes are typically inspired by maids, nurses, club wear, and the like. She also loves to accessorize. Holla also has long, golden hair that she styles differently each day.

B A C K G R O U N D / H I S T O R Y
Lenna was always the family favorite, which is why she was too damn proud. As the oldest daughter, she took over her parents family owned mining operation and became owner, manager, and overseer of the entire mobile operation. This happened after years of studying and putting time into her job. She ruled with an iron fist, suspending pay or firing people who couldn't keep up with her. But those that could enjoyed pay and safety that only Lenna's expertise could provide.

Not much is known about Holla's life on earth, but she was a huge internet sensation. She never worked with any official companies, but the world of mass media was flooded with her pictures and videos. She stared in some home made movies, and did singing as well. She never became famous in real life, but she was an internet sensation that spent a fair bit of time in the lime light.

Lenna's fame and Holla's charm were both things the people felt could be useful in a new world. while both received invitations, only one of them boarded the Noah. It's unclear who entered and what became of the other woman. What is known is that miraculously, both woman are now on Awilix.

Lenna has resumed her mining, but Holla has gone from becoming an internet sensation to a real celebrity. She's started appearing in holo magazines and rumored to appear in the first movie ever filmed on Awilix. The survival efforts aren't really focusing on the return of modern entertainment at this time, but Holla is still pushing strong for this. In her words: "The only way to return to the modern times is through entertainment! We will stop being survivors when we can sit down and enjoy stories about tantalizing woman, and the men who abduct or save them!"

When active, She can alter her physical body to look like someone else. Specifically, she can grow out or shorten her hair, change her hair's color, skin tone, body shape, and apparent age. She cannot change the shape of her skeleton structure, sex, or change her mass.

» D R A W B A C K S
Her eyes will always be lit up when she's using imposer. This can make people suspicious of her, and makes it almost impossible to take the form of certain people.

W E A P O N S
As a miner, Lenna has access to lots of deconstructing tools, from mining tools to explosives. She seldom carries such tools on her person. However, the two tools she's most likely to carry are...

Vein Buster: This device isn't much bigger than a pistol, and acts like a caulk gun in it's operation. The Vein Buster rapidly pushes out an explosive gel. The gel formulation is fairly stable, and will only detonate when electricity is sent through it. Miners detonate the gel by inserting a microchip into the gel, and then commanding the chip to spark with a remote. The Vein Buster is also used by law enforcement to breech locked doors, and by assassins to set traps.

Pocket Pickax: As the name implies, it's a one-handed tool for chipping apart rocks. It works by shooting photon bullets designed to break up smaller rocks. while surprisingly accurate, the tool's bullets aren't very strong. This lower energy level is to ensure the tool lasts long enough to do it's job and not throw debris into the miner's face. while effective on harder substances, the bullets aren't as effective at breaking apart softer objects like human tissue. Getting shot with this feels a bit like getting punched by a bare knuckle boxer. Head shots have the potential to knock out people at close range, but often just daze tougher people.

Holla on the other hand is always in possession of a home made "pepper bomb" to ward off overzealous fans and lustful stalkers. The pepper bomb is actually made from a native plant called "Venus thorn." The red plant is ground up, mixed with distilled water, and then stored under pressure in a fogging canister. Venus thorn is poisonous, but non-lethal. Touching the poison on it's ground up flesh causes a severe yet momentary burning sensation by tricking the nerves into thinking they are on fire. As soon as the poison is absorbed into the body, the effect wears off. The effects seldom last longer than four or five seconds, but the pain makes it almost impossible to stand or handle tools properly.

Konstantin (or Kostia) is a stubborn and determined young man, who sees anything other than achieving his goals as a failure. If anyone tries to stop him, Kostia is prone to violent outbursts, although these are more often than not followed by guilt and repeated apologies once he calms down. Having lived all his life with the thought that he will most likely die soon after his 19th birthday has left him searching for purpose on this new planet, as he never thought he would live to see Awilix. This causes Konstantin a fair bit of anxiety.

Being young and having little experience, it is no surprise that Konstantin's worldview is somewhat naive, with a lot of black and white and too few shades of gray. This is why he approaches new acquaintances with openness and energy, but might also judge them too quickly and make enemies where others would just let sleeping dogs lie. Believing most people to be good, he is quick to strike up conversation and might annoy those less passionate about the great weather we're having.

A P P E A R A N C E
Konstantin is a young man with an unimpressive physique. While he stands at a fairly average 178 cm, his body has very little in the way of fat or muscle, giving a sinewy, even malnourished look. This is even more pronounced by his almost ghost-white skin colour. Konstanin's face is elongated and just as thin as the rest of him, with very prominent cheekbones and chin, but a small and round nose, which sits awkwardly out of place in all the jagged edges of his profile. His hair is medium length, which he refuses to part in any way, leading to a lot of hair in eyes situations. While originaly dark blonde, the stress of cryosleep has given his hair a grayish-yellow colour.

Aside from his work clothes, Konstantin's wardrobe consists of fairly simple apparel - jeans, t-shirts, jumpers, sweaters. Aside from a few pieces of clothing, most are pretty drab - shades of gray, brown, white and black.

B A C K G R O U N D / H I S T O R Y
Before boarding the Noah II, Konstantin was a young man with little direction in his life. He finished school, but had no time nor desire to study anything which might increase his chances of going into space. He dreamed of getting a degree, becoming a teacher and settling down somewhere in the suburbs like in those old shows. Of course, with the impact of Lunosity's Comet just a few months away, his dream sounded about as useful as spending his last few months on the couch at his parents' house watching TV. Which he briefly considered as a sort of plan B, although it did not take him more than a day to discard such defeatist thoughts. He was just beginning the best part of his life and he would figure out a way to get on that vessel or face orbital annihilation knowing he did all he could.

The problem was that all of the people to continue humanity's journey were already picked and being prepared for the journey. The solution came unexpectedly - Konstantin won the lottery of a lifetime. His prize? A place among those chosen to board the Noah II. Even with advanced medicine, young people died all the time - car accidents, muggings gone sour, heck, even suicides, as grim as the reality might be. So with 100 million passengers, naturally quite a few never made it to the Noah. This, of course, presented an opportunity to those doomed to see the Earth's destruction from the planet's surface. A lot of these free spaces were handed out to the highest bidder or to the next person of the list of scientists and engineers that would be needed on the new planet. Some, however, went into public "lotteries". You did not have to buy a ticket to participate, a person was drawn at random from all inhabitants. And Konstantin got his ticket just three weeks before launch. So he said a quick goodbye to his parents and the few friends he had that were not also coming and boarded the Noah II.

His awakening from cryosleep was rough and his first days on Awilix even rougher. On Earth, he did not know what he wanted to do, but at least he had a choice. Here he was assigned to a scouting party and tasked with examining a part of the planet just south of Landing. And that was it. Being productive was nice, but he felt like he could be so much more than just a scout.

L U N O S A B I L I T I E S
High Voltage
» C A P A B I L I T I E S
Konstantin's body can generate elextricity, which he can distribute and discharge through any part of his body. This can be used to shock wildlife as well as humans, power-up electronics or fry them. The amount he can generate varies with physical condition, but it is never more than to stun an adult human for a few minutes.

» D R A W B A C K S
His powers use up a large amount of energy, meaning he has to eat a lot between uses to replenish it. Discharging a large amount all at once or using it several times without rest puts Konstantin at risk of passing out.

Keefer: The only questions I have about this character is how the Lunos actually works.
» C A P A B I L I T I E S
When active, Dead cell suppresses the activation of Lunos abilities within a ten foot radius. That's a twenty foot diameter sphere FYI.

» D R A W B A C K S
It's EVERYONE'S Lunos but his own! Keefer cannot select just one person and turn off their Lunos. This also doesn't stop people from standing outside dead cell's radius and making a Lunos created power enter the dead cell.

Dead Cell suppresses the activation within the area, but what if a Lunos was already active while in the zone? If it does suppress an active Lunos then maybe the word nullify might be a better option. A little more clarity on how it works would be advisable so people can understand any consequences for if they interact with your character.

The drawbacks might need some expansion as well. People can enter the Dead Cell with an active Lunos, but it doesn't tell us the consequences of entering, ie: does the ability deactivate or is it still active? There is also the limitation of use. While I don't like time based abilities, as time in a roleplay is indefinable, how long does this ability last for with opposing players and is there anything preventing the character from spamming the ability?

Lenna/Holla: To be honest this character confused me a little bit until I reached towards the end of the character sheet, but I'm still scratching my head a little bit. I'm assuming that they are the same person with two different personas? It's just a little vague on some of these details to help grasp the image on who the character is as a whole. Remember, this is OOC information so if you need explain something here and state that it's not IC knowledge, then other players should take that into consideration when interacting with the character.

The Imposter ability does raise a question, not to do with the ability, but how it will be played. What sort of indication will you be using so that players don't interact to your character and refer to her by the wrong name? If you're using a header title of some kind for when they swap over between identities then that should be fine. I just need some comfort in knowing how you would like to play her out.

Overall... It's not much, just a bit of expanded info in some areas. Pictures were curious at first but I understand the reasoning behind them with one being a different passenger and the other being unknown with multiple identities. Did you have any plans of eventually showing off their face claims? (Just a curious thought, not related to the critique)

@Mr Donny Your character seems quite fine. I might get you to change the age to words so that it spreads out a bit more under your long character name. Also...
Colour me interested, just a quick question: does the character have to come with a picture? I prefer to just go with descriptions, but if the GM wants it, I can scrounge the net for a picture.

A picture is preferred of some kind... but... it doesn't have to be a character image. Similar to this. You already have a fairly fleshed out description of what they like to wear and their visuals so I'm happy with that.

Aside from those things which aren't really deal breakers, the character is accepted!
Post it up in the Character Tab when you get a chance. Also, check out the Discord link.

I'm making twins! I already have one. I'll get the other one up before the day ends, hopefully.

Got the twins finished. Might polish them up some more later, but they're done.

Keefer: The only questions I have about this character is how the Lunos actually works.

I had a much longer version written up, but it seemed cumbersome and confusing. I guess what's left of the description needs some editing.

In a magical setting, Dead cell would be an area where everyone who enters it has "silence" cast on them. If you're in dead cell, you can't cast spells. if you're outside of dead cell, you can cast spells. It's that simple.

It's impossible for me to say how someone will be affected entering dead cell because i don't know how everyone's abilities will work. Entering dead cell suppresses the part of the human genome that allows Lunos to be used. If your lunos was to make a car appear out of thin air, you could get in it and drive into dead cell unafected. However, if your ability required constant input, like if you could fly or emoliate yourself, those abilities would be shut down as soon as you entered dead cell. Or in the case of flying, you might just not be able to change direction. I think other players will have a much better idea of how their lunos abilities will be affected by dead cell than I do. But if I had to guess (and as an example) here's what would probably happen to your characters.

I get the impression Jackson is constantly in control of gravity, and it's not something he "sets up." So entering dead cell would immediately cause gravity to return to normal.

Cerridwen could go either way. If she's actually placing her contentiousness inside a machine, dead cell would only prevent her from returning back to her own body, provided the original body was inside dead cell. But if it's a proxy thing, like she's controlling a robot remotely, dead cell would cut the communication off instantly.

Eidolon could teleport into dead cell, but not out.

There's nothing preventing Keefer from "spamming" the ability, but keefer doesn't really have the tools to exploit it. He's a carpenter, not a body builder. He also doesn't have access to firearms. But if we wanted a drawback, I guess it could be that his blood pressure rises, causing him to get increasingly irritable and for his adrenaline to start pumping. Over usage could cause him to black out, if not have a stroke.

The character is intentionally difficult to grasp. I enjoy surprising people, and I feel that revealing the impostor's true identity takes away from some of the fun. I feel that understanding both of these "personas" should let people interact with her well enough, better so than if they knew the full story. If that's not a satisfactory answer, then i'll gladly explain things over PM. But if I have to write down the impostor's true identity for everyone to see I'd just as soon not roll them.

The Imposter ability does raise a question, not to do with the ability, but how it will be played. What sort of indication will you be using so that players don't interact to your character and refer to her by the wrong name?
NuttsnBolts

If she's Lenna, I'll call her Lenna. If she's Holla, I'll call her Holla.

I guess it would also be okay for people to call her impostor if they feel confused, or they look at my last post and scan for the character's name. The personas are so radically different it shouldn't be too hard to tell who appeared in the last post. Of course, people who plan on interacting with my characters should be reading my posts in full anyway.

...Right?

Did you have any plans of eventually showing off their face claims? (Just a curious thought, not related to the critique)
NuttsnBolts

Keefer I might do. I don't really like browsing for art much, but if I see something that makes me say "That's Keefer!" I'll put it up.

Impostor would be tough, if not impossible. Lenna would be easy enough to get a picture of, but Holla changes her look so much it would be hard to find something that matched her every form.

EDIT: I made the following changes to Keefer's ability section:

» C A P A B I L I T I E S
When active, Dead cell suppresses other human's abilities to control Lunos within a ten foot radius. That's a twenty foot diameter sphere FYI.

» D R A W B A C K S
He can not exclude people from it's effects, and the longer he keeps it activated the higher his blood pressure gets. This gradually makes him more aggressive, triggers his adrenaline, and can cause him physical harm if not properly managed.

Also, his aggression is no longer something he does automatically, it's triggered by his lunos.

@BrokenPromise Just read over your response to Lenna/Holla and the adjustments you made to Keefer.
Characters is are Accepted.
(Can you do us a favour when you post it and post each character in a different post? Thanks)

Know it's not much in the way of adjustments but sometimes a single word can throw in a spanner. Just making sure that everyone is balanced out and clear on the basics of how their abilities work. Of course, we will discuss events as they come to clarify details, but you never know. xD

Will be reading the new applications in a moment.

@Leoven
Jaica Borré:
Furtive Assimilation
» C A P A B I L I T I E S
Furtive Assimilation allows its user to instantly assimilate into any society or social group, including subconsciously removing the abilities of others around them to identify the user as a stranger or alien to the social group. With this ability, Jaica easily inserts herself into any group to gather intelligence or internally sabotage her target group.

» D R A W B A C K S
Jaica's abilities will not affect the sensory abilities of mechanical constructs such as robotics and DNA-based locks.

Reading over the ability, I think it needs rewording 'or' you really could take the easy route out and copy the Power Listing explanation.
The user can instantly assimilate into any society or social group, subconsciously nullifying the ability/need of others to recognize user as nothing else than part of the group/social structure they place themselves. They could walk into a restaurant and immediately assume a position of waiter, or go into a crime organization and assume a the role of domestic servant.

It really comes down to this line "including subconsciously removing the abilities of others around them to identify the user as a stranger or alien to the social group" which is really repeating the already described explanation of exactly what the Lunos ability is capable of.

This then links a bit into the drawbacks where you mention DNA based locks. Furtive Assimilation is a form of social cloaking, it doesn't affect the user's DNA. Therefore it's already assumed that her DNA will not change. What you could use is some of the drawbacks from an ability such as Shapeshifting.

- May revert back to original form when unconscious or asleep.
- May be limited on how long transformation can last
- Staying extended periods in single form may start affecting the users behavior or even make them forget their true self
- May retain characteristics of their original form in their new shape (i.e., color scheme, birthmarks, scars, etc.).
Examples

Talcri Borré: When I initially set up the roleplay I actually avoided the topic of cybernetics because I felt that it can be an overused theme in which people can latch onto. Hence, I created the Medical Pods which can be used to basically grow back limbs and body parts based on the DNA genome... Or in simple words, going back to the instruction manual and rebuilding.
[YT Vid of how a Medical Pod somewhat works]

(Plus there's the point where if someone created Robocop with the abilities of the Avatar... It might be a little too OP )

So for your character I'm happy to have the cybernetic arm as it does create diversity and was probably cheaper than growing back a limb, but I'm inclined to state that since the Lunos incident her Genome was locked with the contaminant meaning that if she was to enter into a Medical Pod her arm won't grow back.

Not much, but if you make those adjustments to Jaica and let me know what you've done, then I can accept the two of them.

@Kyrisse
Yazmin: Unfortunately there is going to be a fair bit that I need to discuss, both in the back story and the ability. I'll start off with the ability.

Energy and Lunos Absorption
» C A P A B I L I T I E S
Yaz has the ability to absorb energy and lunos by skin to skin contact. She is able to copy any skill or lunos that a person has for a short span of time.

» D R A W B A C K S
Touching a person drains them of their energy and they are temporarily rendered weak. Skin to skin contact also gives Yaz a fragment of the person's memories. The longer she touches a person, the more she siphons off their energy and the more she sees into their past. Afraid that she might end up killing someone, she rarely uses the power and keeps every inch of her skin covered (with the the exception of her face, of course). Curiously, people touching her does not seem to have the same effect as when she touches them.

This ability doesn't have a set theme and some of the drawbacks are actually advantages. Touching a person to render them weak, and able to see into their memories is a positive effect, not a drawback. I also don't see the connection with ability copying to telepathy which leaves me to wonder if you're casting a wide net for an ability you're not sure of.

I do have concerns about the ability itself, as well as this line: "Curiously, people touching her does not seem to have the same effect as when she touches them."

The ability relies on you understanding what every Lunos is capable of and how each player interprets their own creation, then applying that knowledge to your own character (ie: a risk of metagaming). Making an error in replicating that same idea in your own character could spell spell confusion when your character starts throwing fireballs when the original ability was only able to manipulate fire. On a side note, touch is touch and you state that she wears gloves because of her Lunos, it gives the impression that whatever makes contact with her skin will instantly be absorbed. As I said, not all Lunos abilities are positive so I would hate to see what happens when she was to make accidental contact with someone that can go nuclear when she doesn't understand, or possibly know, what the new ability consists of.

As mentioned, there is the backstory that is of some concern. The planet was destroyed by a comet the size of let's say half of Australia; a big bugger of a thing. For Yazmin's family to be killed by the incoming impact, she would no have had enough time to escape to the Noah II seeing as it would have been out of orbit and leaving the planet behind. Her mother, also being gravely ill, would have been placed in a Medical Pod. The only reason why she would be dying is because of natural old age or the inability to reach a Medical Pod, which seems unlikely seeing as her brother was in the Air Force.

If possible it might be best to ease up on the assorted death and dying stories, leaving her sadness to be that simply of how she left her family behind.

There is also the detail of her wanting to transport people down from the spacecraft. The ship launches it's occupants in a drop-pod to the surface. As of current there is no craft that can leave the atmosphere back up to the Noah as there really is no reason to have one yet.

@NuttsnBolts

Thanks for your input! I made the following changes to Jaica's Lunos ability. Yes, I took the easy way out with the capability by copying it from the wiki, and changed the drawbacks. Hope it's all good, friend!

Furtive Assimilation
» C A P A B I L I T I E S
The user can instantly assimilate into any society or social group, subconsciously nullifying the ability/need of others to recognize user as nothing else than part of the group/social structure they place themselves. They could walk into a restaurant and immediately assume a position of waiter, or go into a crime organization and assume a the role of domestic servant. The user can feel the general emotions of a society or group of people by having an internal social mirror. With this ability, Jaica easily inserts herself into any group to gather intelligence or internally sabotage her target group.

» D R A W B A C K S
Jaica's cloaking abilities doesn't come with a limit on the length of its usage, but prolonged use takes a toll on Jaica's psyche. It's too easy to lose herself in a role - her memories of her true life turning foggy and her opinions joining the hive mind of the group she's inserted herself in. Should she find herself in such a state, releasing her from its hold can prove quite difficult. Furtive assimilation also requires Jaica to have a certain grasp on the group she's inserting herself into, such as their general outlook or names of some of their members.

As for Talcri...

I'm guessing that Medical Pods can cost quite a fortune, especially when it comes to something as big as growing back an arm. What I thought when I wrote that was that the mob boss that paid for her cybernetics really didn't want to dish out too much cash and thought that having someone with robot arms would be good for the business. Don't worry. The arm won't be OP though. It's just there to provide light for her Lunos and a bit of boost in strength. Not a lot, though, compared to someone whose actual Lunos is enhanced strength.

Oh, by the way. Do you have an idea on what the crime ring in the Landing is called or if there's a name for whoever rules over the black market? It's really awkward just putting "boss" and "crime ring" in their character sheets.

@BrokenPromise Just read over your response to Lenna/Holla and the adjustments you made to Keefer.
Character is Accepted.
(Can you do us a favour when you post it and post each character in a different post? Thanks)

I hope I was correct in assuming both were accepted despite the fact that you said character instead of "characters."

I did make one change to Lenna/Holla, and that was just to add the impostor's title next to their names. In OOC it might be easier to refer to the character as such.
