Callie led the way towards the pancake place, finding a table, she looked at the menu, trying to decide what she wanted, while also trying not to think about the coming day. She just wanted to have a little fun, before it happened. She looked to caius, and felt a little better
"I'm thinking chocolate chip" she said.
She looked down at the menu again, pondering the choices, leaning on the table with her left arm, the charm bracelet there sliding down her wrist slightly, and she yawned.
Caius watched Callie as she browsed through the menu, a soft smile on his lips. She was a sweet girl and he was sure he would follow her to the ends of the earth. But he worried for her. Would she be able to bear the pain? Would she truly be okay when the full moon came.
"Chocolate chip sounds good," he said.
Callie looked up, and smiled.
"Great, lets order" She waved a waitress down, and ordered the pancakes, waiting until the waitress was gone, before saying
"I'm stronger then I seem...I know I don't look like much...but some spells require a lot of strength, and some do have pain. I'll be okay." She touched her charm bracelet, hoping that she would be able to use a potion, or spell, to try and at least ease it slightly. But she didn't know what would help, and she doubted she'd have the time to figure it out.
"I know you're a lot stronger than you look. I know that you'll get through it. But I still can't help but worry," Caius said. He reached out across the table and took her hands in his.
Callie smiled and gave his hands a squeeze,
"I know. And that's why I know I'll get through it. Because I have you" she thought for a moment and then said softly,
"what will happen to my powers, do you know? I only really make charms with spells everything else I do with potions""I see you've found your mate, Caius," came a deep male voice from the next table. A tall man sat there. He had gray eyes and scars running through his left eye and the left half of hi lips. He looked at Caius.
"A witch is she? I can sense her powers fading though." He looked towards Callie as if he was sizing her up.
"You will cease to be a witch. Any magical affinities you may have will disappear. The general knowledge of mixing potions will remain but everything else..." he shook his head.
"You will be pure wolf."A wide smile crossed Caius' face.
"Darric.""Ah yes, that. I'm afraid I have forgotten my manners. I am Darric Shadowforge, alpha or the pack Crimson Keepers and blood brother to both Caius and Claudia."The loss of her powers was somewhat daunting to Callie, but there were ways around that. Potions themselves were often powerful. She studied the man-wolf she was sure from his scars, and confirmed as he spoke-a little intimidated. She studied him as he studied her, aware she was being studied perhaps for what potential she could have. So why appear intimidated?
"it's a pleasure to meet you, Darric. I'm Callie. Thank you...for telling me what will happen to my magic. It's good to know" She gave him a smile offering him her hand,
"would you care to join us? We were just having an early breakfast"Darric nodded and then turned his cunning gray eye back to Caius. Blue to gray, gray to blue. A silent understanding passed between the blood brothers. But when Callie offered breakfast to the alpha wolf, Caius chuckled.
"I don't think the food here would interest Darric. It would be like dangling a carrot in front of a hungry wolf," he grinned at Callie.
"I believe he is here to see you."Darric laughed and nodded his head approvingly.
"Sharp as ever, Caius," he smiled at Callie.
"I haven't heard from Caius for a few days so I thought I'd come to see what he's been up to."Callie felt like there was something she was missing. She frowned slightly, and then shocked, she said, a little panicky,
"see me? Why?" had she done something wrong? She looked to Caius, as if she could get some idea of why, before looking back to Darric.
"I haven't even turned yet" but soon, and she shifted nervously at the thought.
"You haven't turned yet but Darric can smell that you're one of us now. And I assume he's here to offer you a place in the pack."Darric grinned and nodded.
Callie blinked. A place, in a pack? Just like that? Even when she hadn't turned? She didn't know what that would mean. With the coven...it was just simply...it. She knew nothing about wolves, or their ways of life, and she knew that she had a lot to learn.
"I...A place, really? Wow. I...Well, yeah" she knew she sounded nervous, and yet she couldn't help herself.
Darric stood up and nodded.
"Good luck with your transition, Callie. Don't cripple Caius too much," he winked and then walked away to leave the couple to their early breakfast. The rest of the night was relatively uneventful.
The next day, Caius woke up naked beside Callie. It was a little later than his usual waking time but he didn't mind. He was sure Claudia was already in the bar. She didn't come home the night before and he assumed that she was still with Alex. Not that he minded it. It was, in fact, working to his advantage. He leaned towards Callie and began kissing her shoulder, the mark he had left there the night before already almost gone. As soon as she woke up, he pulled her to him.
"Hi," he greeted as he began kissing her, fully planning on making quick love to her before they needed to leave.
Callie decided that waking up to kisses was definetely something she enjoyed, leaning into him as he pulled her closer, she smiled, and muttered a sleepy
"Hello", but she returned his kiss with a lot of energy, somehow quickly reaching that point of desire, where she was sure she would just combust.
Yes, she had to say that this was a good way to wake up.
Gods, how could she want him so much? How could she keep up this pace? She didn't know, but she decided it would be a good way to go, if that was possible.
The quickie Caius planned turned out to be not so quick. Over and over he made love to her until he collapsed on the bed grinning like a fool.
"Hungry?" he asked.
"Yeah" Callie said breathlessly, managing, after a moments struggle, to draw in a few deep breaths. She gave a laugh,
"God, Caius, we're going to wear each other out at this rate!" She managed to sit up, and she blinked about the room, wondering where her clothes had ended up...she remembered...nothing but Caius after they returned back to the apartment.
Caius grinned and gestured towards the bathroom.
"Go ahead and freshen up. I placed your clothes in there."Callie smiled, and she rose, not even trying to hide her naked form-why, after everything? She took a little bit of time to shower, running her fingers lightly over where Caius had bit her. Thoughtfully, Callie tried a few spells, able to use them, she didn't appear to have any difficulty, although they were simple spells. One to dry herself completely-always a handy spell, did appear to fail slightly, not drying her hair, but that wasn't a big deal. Pulling it back into a pony tail, Callie dressed, soon coming out, ready to go.
Caius closed his eyes while Callie was in the bathroon. But as soon as Callie came out, he stood up, kissed her as he passed by and then freshened up himself. In a few more minutes he was dressed and showered.
"Let's go get something to eat and then head on over to the bar."Callie could indeed get use to this. The simple touch, kiss just because? It made her feel special. Worthy. Cared about. She could do this. Caius was the price after all. She nodded, and when they decided what to have, she glanced about the city as they walked.
"It's nice to be able to walk around like this. But was is coming. I don't know the details to it. I don't know how or when it'll start. But I can feel it."Callie nodded, knowing it was coming too.
"I think it's already started. I think it started when Samuel killed Salazar and it's just been building up since then" would she be of any use in this? She didn't know. Not anymore.
"We just need to do out best to get through it alive," Caius said.
"No need to talk about such depressing matters. Come on, let's go eat."Callie nodded, knowing that he was right, and she tried to put that out her mind, as they went to get eat. She bit her lip in thought, before saying
"I want to do one last thing with my magic, if you'd like to help"Caius looked questioningly at Callie.
"Sure," he said without hesitation.
Callie smiled,
"it's a silly thing, really...and it's more manual then magical, but well, I just thought that with everything negative going on...fireworks all over the town might be nice, and I can light them all at the same time."Caius chuckled.
"That would be nice."
