Tabitha, Alex and Lucinda
with
@CaitsAlex looked at Tabitha as she stared at him. It was only then he realized that she was smelling Garrett's blood on him. He walked towards her slowly.
"Tabitha, Lucinda sent me to get you." Alex reached over and gently took her hand in his.
"Aunt Tabby, Garrett...Grant killed him...I walked in just after it happened and I killed Grant."Tabitha shook her head wildly, trying to move further away from Alex, she pushed around the table, not sure what she was even thinking. That if she moved far enough away, it wouldn't be true?
"No. No, you're wrong. Go away, leave me alone" It couldn't happen again, could it? She couldn't lose someone she loved again, not like this, not just after finding it, not after...not after it made her feel whole. Perfect. It couldn't be true.
It simply couldn't.
She turned away, beginning to move through what clients were left in the bar, seeking an exit, a place to run, something, anything. Because it just couldn't be.
Alex grabbed Tabitha and pulled her to him. He held her for a moment. His heart was breaking for her and his own tears were starting up again. This had been his uncle the man had been in his afterlife for 850 years.
"I have to take you there. I'm sorry." Alex picked her up and dodged the flying punches and even though she was an original and could pack quite a punch Alex tossed her over his shoulder and ran back to the house. When he put her down he looked at Lucinda.
"Did you figure out what happened?" Lucinda nodded.
"Tabby...."Tabitha snarled, kicked, scratched, hit and even for a brief moment considered bite Alex, anything to get him to put her down, to let her go, to simply leave her alone. She fled as soon as he put her down, ignoring Lucinda, knowing she didn't want to hear the words, knowing she couldn't. But there was no where to run to. No safe place anymore.
There was nothing.
She darted outside, the sun for once feeling like doom and gloom. And then didn't know where to go.
Lucinda stepped in front of Tabitha and she grabbed her in a ferocious hug and she cried with her. When Lucinda got herself under control again she looked at Tabitha.
"I know you loved him, I did too. You don't have to see him if you don't want to but you need to know what happened because we have to find out who helped Grant to do this. You know that there is no way that he could have killed Garrett on his own. Do you want to know what he did?"Tabitha pushed Lucinda away from her. How could Lucinda understand? Tabitha hadn't had the luxury of having any feelings for any man that had come through. Lucinda had. She couldn't understand what Tabitha was feeling, experiencing. she shook her head, stepping back from Lucinda.
"You don't understand" She roared,
"I can't wait around another eight hundred years for someone to love me again. I can't just love anyone that comes along, I can't make myself feel something if there's nothing there.
Garrett was it for me. You can't understand. He was it, Lucinda.i don't need to know what happened. I don't want to know what happened. My projects, my eccentric behavior, made it easier to bare the fact that I couldn't have Garrett. And then when I did? It made life so much better. It made me feel like I was actually living. There's nothing now." Perhaps Lucinda had never understood her at all. She didn't want to be there. How could she be? She moved around Lucinda, shaking.
Lucinda looked at her in disbelief. Tabitha had had many admirers in the past but apparently she hadn't seen them in her attempts to bury herself in her projects.
"Tabitha, you are very loved. You have a family that loves you so much. I love you! We've been sisters for twelve hundred years. There will never be another Garrett...there can't be but...you don't have to grieve for an eternity. Open your heart when you are ready and let people in." Lucinda was feeling so overwhelmed. Alex looked up as Piper came outside.
"What happened? What's going on?" The fear in her eyes was exacerbated when she saw Tabitha's face.
"No!..No!" She peered at the head just past Alex's feet. Grant's head made her stop and she glanced at the shed which was open and she walked over to it and saw the bodies. She screamed and cried. Alex watched as Lukas came flying out the door and cradled her in his arms. He turned away from them. His concern was Tabitha.
"Tabitha," Alex was an odd one to be comforting her but he felt so terrible. If he had any idea that this would have happened he would have killed Grant the first time he saw him instead of allowing him to live after trying to wrestle him into a hold that he obviously thought he couldn't get out of. Instead he had let Piper handle it because it would have upset Garrett if he pummeled his kid into the dirt. Hindsight was always 100%. If... If... If... there were just too many ifs that would have changed this.
"Please let me hold you." Alex put his arms around her tightly and hugged her. He needed her forgiveness for not knowing and doing something about it beforehand.
"See, you don't understand" Tabitha cried,
"Some people don't get many chances, and I've lost the only two people who made me feel alive. Two people, Lucinda, in 1200 years. I'm not like you! There will be no one else!" It just made it a thousand times worse when Piper appeared. It was all her fault, all Pipers fault that Grant was even around, that none of them had attacked him because it would have upset her. Her fault they even gave Grant a chance.
Tabitha might have done something drastic, if Alex hadn't hugged her.
She broke, utterly and completely, her small frame somehow smaller, turning to hide her face, tears breaking through, she clutched at Alex, but he wasn't what she wanted. She didn't want to be there, didn't want to be at the house, on the grounds.
Lucinda came over and put her arms around both Alex and Tabitha.
